it's so much easier with tabs on the screen ,please keep it this way for the rest of your videos ;)
This is such an underrated Tool song, and features some great riffs and musical elements. Thanks for the lesson!
Agreed! One of my favs for sure.
Everything that ever happened is underrated
Finally a full version!!!!Thank you !!
Love these tutorials and Thank you for putting in the effort to show the TAB as well
Great to see Tool Guitar lessons back. Adding the tabs into the video is also a nice touch. Awesome stuff my friend...as always
Thank you!!! Youve been super helpful in my guitar lessons. Cant thank you enough,, youre my first teacher and you make it pretty simple to understand and follow. Awesome work!!
This guy, along with Carl of Guitar Lessons 365, are my favorites. They’re able to take the somewhat difficult phrasings and chord progressions and make them easier to understand and play. Very instructive!
Love all your Tool lessons bro!! Thank you super helpful!! 💯💯💯
Think I've never needed this song as much as I do now during the quarantine. Been looking to learn this song and this video it's just perfect. Thank so much!!
Thank you for this, brother. You're the best in the business
Your lessons/videos keep impoving, i'm glad you decided to add the tab in the video itself really helps. (That guitar looks so comfortable)
Thanks
Best lessons on UA-cam by far !
Great lesson Greg. Thank you!
You are awesome!
Love the lessons
Phenomenal lesson thanks so so much. Respect.
WOW.... the tab notiations displayed helps soo much... awesome
Gracias karnal, You just made My Day... Por siempre TOOL!!
“So hopefully that helps”
Lol you don’t even know how much that helped on the turn around very simple and never heard it right but that did help immensely
awesome analysis.
Great idea vith the tabs! This lesson just needed "Eon Blue Apocalypse" as well, sice it's basically a prelude of "The Patient". As for me, I never play "The Patient" without "Eon Blue Apocalypse". But overall great job, buddy.
Thanks. I've actually have a lesson on Eon. Should be in the Tool Tuesday playlist.
thank you for this!!!
effn love you for making this vid :)
awesine thing! one of my very best songs!
Very good lesson! Also like your haircut!
Thanks man, that's awesome.
Great lesson and great playing. That guitar looks and sounds pretty damn good also.
Thanks for this, fun song to play and not too hard for a beginner like myself.
This dudes amazing.
One of my favorite songs. Loyal Tool fan since Opiate(dating myself). I remember watching a show called 120 Minutes on MTV, back when the M stood for music. Absolutely destroys weaker forms of so called "music"
Alex Grey in the background. 🙌🏾🙌🏾
Full song tutorial, finally
legend, thanks!
Thanks. Your work is appreciated like always. Still waiting for eulogy...
awesome full song
thank you very much :P
Thanks man
thanks so much.
I LOVE U, MAN!
Nice haircut!👌🏻
And just as i started to learn the song.....this will make it easy
Great lesson! I would like to recommend Eulogy as the next one. Keep up the good work
I think I'm going to do that one next.
axeofcreation Awesome! Can't wait
omg here goes another week of my life
Should do one for the slide intro for third eye
can you do Third eye guitar lesson please ? :D
I've done the two solos in my Tool Tuesday series. Most recent guitar ones too.
axeofcreation Do a full lesson man! it's a song I just can't figure out but only 2 parts.
hopefully they release a new album soon just to see you make lessons of from them
I'd like to me make those to!
Your patience pays off in a week
You rock bro. Not many tutorials for this and one of my favs from Lateralus. \m/
I love the tabs popping out even though it's on your face.
I dont mean that in a bad way, just the idea of seeing the tabs as you go along the lesson.
You know what I mean. 😉
Thank you for this...
Better my face than my hands. I'd rather you see it being playing than watching my stupid faces.
Hahaha
1 question though.
The 16:25 part of this video, part of the breakdown.
You played it on the 7th fret.
On your previous video, you played it on the 2nd fret, D & G string. Y the change? Is it Bcoz of the next part where you play the octave on the 14th fret?
Which can be done also with your previous lesson where you just slide up from 2nd to 14th fret on the same strings with the same pattern.
Just my opinion. Nothing against this new vid...
Wow amazing video! Your guitar playing is so on point...Never stop playing you will bring lots of happiness to people this is fuckin great =P Tool for the win! \m/
Can you teach flood please
Jones really likes those 0-3-5s lol
Did you do the wah guitar part near the beginning? DId I miss it somehow?
Yeeeeeaaaahhhhhh!!!!
What effects are used?
Can you recommend any set of pickups to play Tool? I just bought a JB/Jazz set but I'm not sure if that will do (even though I've heard them in a metal context).. And thanks for the videos.
1990EAM Adam Jones plays with a JB in the bridge.
I used to run the JB and 59 in the neck. Sounded great. The JB is perfect.
Thanks guys. Can't wait to install them.
do Bottom pls
Digging the new haircut! Usually the guitar can stand alone in Tool songs. Not really a fan of Jones guitar on this one. The song as a whole is great.
For sure! The Bass and Vocals play a big part in this one. The whole breakdown section is great and very "tool". Thanks!
Just wanna say that I like the haircut.
How those Kiesels, I'm big on the schecters 7's and I use the upper end Ibbys, but I was a Carvin fan until Kiesel stepped in, so if you can't give an honest opinion since they sponsor u PM me please
I have a custom schecter 7 I had made years ago. I've outgrown it as a player. No fault of the instrument, just the noob who picked out custom specs not knowing anything. Feels great when riffing out but for me, it stops there.
I met Jeff and the gang when they were still Carvin. I would visit the shop and play everything. They were hit and miss. You'd grab one and it played and felt great, super fluid. Then I'd grab another and it had no mojo. I noticed a big change when they separated into Kiesel. Everything just felt better. The Aries model is efficient and fast. Very playable. Highly recommend. I'm a fan of Fender, just comfortable in my hands, so the Kiesel Bolt is killer, especially for the price point. I have a custom Vader and it's fucking awesome. Chambered body, resonant. Tone for days. Being an ibby guy, you'd probably like the Cresent/DC/Aries line. Thin neck profile. Very stable instruments, in my experience. You don't have to go nuts on specials woods, jacking up your price. Great bang for your buck.
Appreciate the input I have a 1980 fender tele with dmarzio rails for pickups that I use for Tool love love love the tele necks but don't like the fact that it's very easy to squash the sound, so I will try some kiesels out, if you know any dealers in S Jersey b very cool, I will look up also just hoping it's not all "online garbage" thanks my dude been an avid listener for awhile
What type of pick are you using? It looks THICK!
That's what she said.

YOOOOOOOOOOOOSO
Next lesson should be on haircuts
ded.
good lesson but since you put the tab up is it necessary to verbalize the fret numbers?
Yes. I don't know at what point I'm going to lay over the tabs. Plus, they're only up for a moment, usually when I'm playing it, not teaching it.
axeofcreation it's all good. You do a great job of breaking the songs down but I tend to fast forward past the parts where you say what fret your fingers go.
But I guess it is helpful for many people.
Dude looks like Ian cole from the Pittsburg penguins with this haircut.
Hey ever listen to porcupine tree
Of course. I actually just saw Steven Wilson live. Fantastic show.
THIRD EYE!!! WHY O WHY HAVEN'T YOU DONE THIRD EYE?!?!
Triad solo lesson maybe??
Covered both solos, recently, in the Tool Tuesday playlist.
Where , I don't see them anywhere?
Trying to play this gives me a bad headache
Hey man, SHOWING the time signatures would have been..more appropriate.... Oh, and the little cliff note before it..
Great job as always, but listen to my cover of The Patient. There are some differences that make my cover sound more accurate. Just a friendly advice. Keep up the good content.
I like the white nationalist haircut
