Love Vanessa's talk about The Minutemen's influence, that's definitely encouraging me to revisit them, and love both of your passion talking about those albums
I've had the pleasure of seeing: Uncle Tupelo, Son Volt, Wilco and Jay performing solo or with one other musician. The UT show was a few months before the breakup, you could sense that something was off. My favorite UT album is usually the one that I am playing.
Yay bifecta! is that a word? great video because you seemed to be aligning and enjoying it :) nice follow up to Wilco. Because it's not a genre I'm that into, I might be judging more with the sonic and atmospheric qualities than the songs, actually no the songs too, I just really liked March, I've played it a couple of times and it always sounds great, tranquil and heartfelt, and makes me feel good, I tried the debut last night and it wasn't bad but just didn't do much for me, probably because haven't been in the mood for raw music lately, so will definitely revisit it and the others.
I got into them at the time of the release of Anodyne. I remember being very excited when I heard that Jay and Jeff each started their own band. I LOVED Trace, and it’s still an all-time favorite. I was a little disappointed in A.M. I still love both bands but I definitely think Wilco’s discography is better. They’re more of an actual band too, despite many lineup changes. Son Volt’s two iterations seem like just backing bands for Jay.
@@robforzese5496 I have actually heard it since this video. Windfall and Tear Stained Eye are excellent songs, but can't put it above my top Wilco and Tupelo albums yet. Maybe with time!

For me I have the following order.
4. No depression
3. March 1992
2. Still feel gone
1. Anodine
No drums on March. My fav album.

Don't know Son Volt at all, but as the Wilco video showed, I'm a super fan of them. Thanks for watching!
@@williamsschmilliams7812 Trace is a must listen and possibly the best alt-country album ever. The next two are quite good too.
@@adamp2029 Trace definitely been on my list to check out. Definitely interested after this deep dive!
I would agree on Trace 100% it maybe a hot take but I think it better than any uncle Tupelo album or any Wilco album. Trace is phenomenal!
