Love the Driving the View mention. So underappreciated. Enjoyed the list but find it wild that I have A. M. so far ahead of you. It's really the only Wilco album I truly love.
Wow! That advance copy of No Depression is kinda rare. 🤣 great rundown of Jay and Jeff. This video takes me back. I wish I had picked up those first 3 Uncle Tupelo records when they were reissued in vinyl. I did get the recent Anodyne reissue. I discovered Wilco in ‘98 and saw my first show in Austin in ‘99 (Summer teeth tour) best concert I’ve ever seen. I saw Son Volt and Jay solo too. I could go on.. Anyways, great video! I might have to make my own Alt Country video. Thanks for the inspiration! - Zach
I'm a hopeless Uncle Tupelo nut. Any video that analyzes them Son Volt or Wilco, I devour. I still think the first UT album, No Depression is, by a hair, is my favorite. Greatest debut album ever. I prefer Jay to Jeff but their both monsters. Great video.
Man, I could talk to you for days about Uncle Tupelo, Wilco, and Son Volt -- thank you for this thought-out and reasoned top 15, it was a blast to see it! Hope to see a lot more from you. All the best from cold Denmark
For the record, my Top 10 would be: 1: Wilco - Being There 2: Uncle Tupelo - March 16-20, 1992 3: Wilco - Summerteeth 4: Son Volt - Trace 5: Uncle Tupelo - Still Feel Gone 6: Wilco - AM (really) 7: Son Volt - Wide Swing Tremolo 8: Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot 9: Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne 10: Son Volt - Straightaways
Nice rundown. INSANE advanced copy of No Depression. Extremely jealous of that. This would be a difficult process for me. I’ll have to revisit the Gibbard/Farrar album. It didn’t grab me when it first came out.

Anodyne is incredible. What an album.

You are 100% right.
Interesting list! Hard to top Anodyne but Being there would probably be 2nd or 3rd for me.

1. Son Volt - Trace
2. Wilco - Being There
3. Wilco - Yankee Hotel Foxtrot
4. Uncle Tupelo - Anodyne
5. Wilco - Summerteeth
That's a good top five.
Anodyne is indeed the best. Pegged it.
Great list. "Straightaways" and "Sky blue Sky" would make the list for me.
very hard to leave both off
