You aren't likely to see a diesel in any of the 150/1500 series pickups. They are too small to qualify for the less stringent EPA regulations that come once the GVWR/GVM goes above 8,500 lbs.

I need a ute to carry stuff and a bigger car for touring and towing a caravan so I’m hoping to replace my 2022 Hilux and 2020 Sahara with one Tundra. Waiting to drive one and pricing. What do you mean “not too many squeaks and rattles”. I don’t care if it’s a factory vehicle or a RHD conversion, for the price these things will be I won’t accept any squeaks or rattles. The difference with Tundra and the other big American pick ups sold here is, I believe, the Toyota dealer network will be servicing and supplying parts. Can you confirm this? because if that’s correct that’s a huge incentive. That’s the reason I didn’t buy an American pick up previously, no dealer support. Thanks.

Being lease vehicles for trial doubt Toyota will let them have usual 4WD drive mods that RV crowd would typically fit. If they go on sale the big plus they have over USA competitors should be good after sales support by extensive Toyota dealership.

Great to see the tundra here. But until they can import them RHD there not worth it. Walkinshaw charge $90k for the conversion, 100% or more the value of the truck to start with. There’s recalls already on there ford conversions. Import them RHD or don’t bother. There’s a market already here for them. Drop $90k off the price and they’ll outsell hilux at its best market sales.

The 3.8L Cummins 4 makes less power and isn't rated for on road use. The 5L Cummins out of the Nissan Titan would make more sense since the Titan is no more. The issue is that the Tundra is not big enough to make a diesel viable under US regulations (Toyota does not compete in the Large Pickup segment) and the Tundra is primarily for the US and Canadian market.

The Tundra has established a reputation for exceptional reliability like any other Toyota model. even though this was designed and built in the US it’s still a fully fledged Toyota. In fact the Tundra shares the same platform, components, and 3.4 V6 (albeit with a hybrid battery) as your Land Cruiser 300. Surely that’s not crap now is it

”Australians will have to get used to the fact that these large American pickups don't have that much seat bolstering and they are built for bigger sized humans". That's a very polite way of saying that the vehicle's seats are designed for fat Yanks and that they will offer little support for normal sized humans.

Different brands and even different trims of the same brand will have different seat setups. I'm not the biggest fan of heavily bolstered seats since I don't want to be held in one place when I'm behind the wheel for 15 hours. I have the 8 way adjustable Ford seats in my Super Duty and they are very comfortable on long days. I'm about 5'9" and 185 lbs. Any lighter and I get flattened when I play hockey.

At 160 grand drive away for Australia it will be a big No from people no thanks , are they really so stupid, they will sell two if they are lucky . What's this nonsense they are letting some customers now lease it for 18 months first for about 2500$ per month and hand it back ? oh then then will see in dealers for ridiculous prices 150+ K used vehicles at the end of this experiment trial around the end of 2025 for these used ones . These Toyotas are cheap in usa around 70 grand for the top spec . Just buy the new F150 for 100K drive away or the Ram much better priced .

What an ugly, hideous looking truck. Big mistake with a petrol engine, such a behemoth 3 ton monster needs a 3.5L V6 twin turbo diesel as the bare minimum. Hate to see the real world fuel consumption which will be more like 20L/100km without any load or towing. It will struggle to tow anything over 3tons.
In addition, 4wd is not required given we don’t drive in snow covered roads & a complete waste of extra weight (+200kg) & higher fuel consumption.
Hate to see the hideous & ridiculous cost price given Walkinshaw conversion.
