    We have the same thing in Vegas. It's great, I love that it constantly brings fresh air in and pushes stale air out. An air conditioner uses heat to cool the same air over and over and cost 3 times the electricity of a swamp cooler.

    The power cord to ours comes inside below the opening, and we just plug in to any indoor outlet; can use a timer switch as well. We open an attic access to vent through the whole house, then back across the entire attic space and out a gable vent, a vast improvement to cool the residual heat stored in the roof by the sun. One minor tweak was the plumbing fitting was not exactly right for U.S. fittings. Compression fittings for 1/4" plastic feed line are cheap and ubiquitous, but look for the bevel on the inner brass lip, and not a flat, which doesn't compress the brass donut properly.

    When I was a kid growing up in eastern Washington we used swamp coolers to cool our house - back in the 1970s. They do work great. I'm also looking forward to the sena clone video :-) I have a Shark F9 intercom but have decided to get a sena so I can ride/talk with more guys.

    Hi from Australia. South Australia in fact. Good review. I've owned mine 5 years too. I installed in my wall in my 80 square mtr house and cools the lot all season. We can get up to 45C and it copes brilliantly. I only ever use setting 3 to rapidly cool house if I've been away. Ironically more of these units sell in America than Australia. Go figure lols Recommend the inside cover for winter. I just bought a portable air con for the really hot humid days that we get about 5 times a season. But as I type this the Durango is running and its 36C :)

      I love my Bonaire Durango. It works so well up until about 50 percent humidity. At 5 or 10 percent it is crazy cool. If not you are trying to cool too large a space or do not have your windows open right for the draft. I am in Southern California.

    My A/C thermostat is set at 84 daytime ( When we are not home.) and 80 at night. We use ceiling fans also. The fact that the air is dry helps. The key to saving on electric bills is having good insulation and the best windows you can afford.

    I purchased Bonaire's top of the line two years ago. It works good with a number of issues. If you purchase one of these be prepared to remove the filter panel / cover once a week to clean out the cooler and filters. After a week of use the air output smells like a filthy swamp. I have used every additive including an expensive water filter and after a week of use the air smells so bad it will gag a maggot. Next season I will be replacing the Bonaire with a conventional Evaporator Cooler.
    In our guest house we have a conventional Evaporator Cooler that only needs cleaning maybe twice during the summer and never smells like the Bonaire.

    • @wildlifeobservationunit1175

      That does not happen to me. I shamefully clean my filters out once a season but it works great. Must be different in different locales.

    it would prob work in august if you could keep it in the shade. Maybe you could build some kind of little roof over it.

    Thanks for that honest review. Towards the end of the video you said it doesnt work on those really hot days. At what temperature do these cease to be effective?

    • @vegasromaniac
      @vegasromaniac  8 років тому +1

      +Robert Reason after 100f with 10-15 humidity can't do it anymore, At that temp it pushes in 76-78f great if you sit on front of it but can't cool the house off

    • @Fucknuts4u
      @Fucknuts4u 8 років тому +1

      We have monsoon season in August and the humidity increases considerably at that time...since the swamp cooler runs on a humidification/evaporation process, it is far less effective as the outdoor humidity increase.

    How did you flush your cooler? When I installed my cooler, I followed the instruction to screw in the telescopic part using the 12 pozi-drive screws, mine is sticking out by a feet! So when I install it between a 4x4 windows, it's sticking out like sort thumbs. I like how you got yours all flushed mount, not sure how did you do that????

    just installed mine and can't get it to push cold air in. any ideas? should the pads be wet to the touch. mine aren't.

    • @vegasromaniac
      @vegasromaniac  8 років тому

      Yes your water pump is not circulating the water on top of the pad. Check to see if it works, maybe the hose came loos right to the top of the unit title left side inside, there is a hose about 1 inch thick that carries water up in the unit

    • @harryjones8275

    How well does it deal with dust? do you have to wash it out periodically or is that what the bleeder valve does?

    • @vegasromaniac
      @vegasromaniac  3 роки тому +1

      Dust gets collected in the water and drains out thru the bleeder valve, no dust comes in the house

      @@vegasromaniac Thanks for the quick Reply! I live in a really dusty area and was more concerned about dust than water minerals lol. Now just waiting for home depot near me to get them back in stock.

    I'm totally lost at what u said about how it was not an all-year-round product. You said at the end of summer, like in the month of August, it no longer works. I don't understand. You said it no longer works because it is too hot outside. But doesn't it get cooler after August? The hot months are June and July. I thought that this thing works all year round, especially in the hot months. I'm confused. I'm lost.

    Brother ,Your cooling pads are so dirty and with salt Deposits,looks like you havent cleaned them in a while.Not good .You should be using the commonly availabe cleaning solutions available for Evaporative Coolers on Amazon.

      +Punit Ojha that's the beauty of these cardboard paper pads, you just knock them and they shake off all those deposits,. Here in Vegas I do it once a year at the end of the season. Cost me nothing, work fine for 5 years, no money to spend, more savings, no chemicals.. Win win win
