    I’ve started using a scale eliminator in line with my water supply. It’s made a marked difference to maintenance and the longevity of my coolers. Living in CA we have hard water.

      How Did you do that? what is a scale eliminator?

      vane varnel SCALE or commonly called calcium deposits are caught in an IN/LINE filter like the kind that Amazon sells. To
      attach to your cooler you may need fittings to go to the 1/4 “ fittings on the filter and then to your cooler. The Bonaire has 1/4 inch fittings so it’s easy to attach. Here is the Amazon link.

    Excellent video (audio was a little low), helped me tune up a Bonaire unit and now it's running great for the summer heat.

    I have a champion with Aspen pads and if I don't run it every night without the pump on to dry them out they will mold and smell. I like that this unit is made out of plastic and won't rust but I don't know if the hard water I have is it going to ruin that type of pad.

    Great video very helpful. I just bought a new home and previous owner has this same model installed. I opened it up to replace filter and the pump was not attached to back of unit. Plus it didn’t have a filter on bottom of pump. What does the bracket look like? Maybe I can make one so my pump just isn’t sitting in water

    I have trouble putting the back panel on. It doesn't slide in...quite a problem....the hose that connects to the back pad is too short is it ok to make it longer also there's a smaller diameter hose coming out of the larger hose for what reason????? My first time doing.

      You have to make sure your panel is high enough and flush before pushing down to hook it back into place

      Small Hose is to keep it primed

    One thing. Your audio seemed low, even with my phones volume up to max.

    Wondering about this small hose that extends off the water uptake hose just above the water line. Does it get submerged when reassembling or does it need to breathe air? I can't figure out it's function. TIA

      that is a bleed hose that goes outside the unit it will allow 1.5-3 gallons per hour to exit this allows the pads to last longer

    Can't thes pass just be soaked in distilled vinegar?

      I heard that someone contacted Bonaire and they recommend that. I wasn't sure if it was water with vinegar, but I think you could use the same pads for a few years that way, And they are kind of expensive. So good thinking.

    Is there a water bleed off to help keep the water fresh/stop the deposits?

      having this unit it is designed to always purge/flow water. It is a waster of water. the tube thats normally there has an adjustment that lets you tune the amount of water it will let thru... I plugged up mine as it was a considerable amount of water when I used a 5 gallon bucket. I do purge the water manually every week or so.

    What if I accidentally break the stakes that are on the back of the bigger pads? What is an alternative to use?

    • @tavi58
      @tavi58  7 років тому +1

      The new stakes that you get with the new pads will hold them in as long as they are placed in the bottom. Because the flow tank in the top will hold it in place. Or you can use a plastic zip-tie to hold them in. But not to tight to mess up your pads. Or use one of your old ones that you took out.

    How often do you need to replace the pads and where can you get them?

    • @tavi58
      @tavi58  7 років тому

      I replace them once a year at the start of the heat. I live in Las Vegas. The water here is real HARD water. I have a dealer here I get them from.
