This should’ve been a 10 part series! Car looks great but I’d like to see you chop up the content and make us all watch the process. Keep building classics no matter what.
Thanks. I didn’t plan on making this a video but I have seen other people doing 4 door to 2 door conversions and thought maybe sharing my pictures might help show my journey. In the future I will try to make content with some of my other projects.
Wow! Tires have sidewalls, no dragster, no pimped out low rider gangster P.O.S. no stupid tacky crap! Just a regular guy kind of daily driver! Very nicely done. I'm probably a minority of one against 8 billion, but I love it. It actually looks sane.
Thank you sir, I’ve been following your ‘61. I took the easy route using 2 door parts, I think your ‘61 is more unique and has that “Something is different but what is it”look. Thank again.
You will probably have better results starting with a good car, this car was a parts car and I really didn’t know if this would work. Try to google Jack’s Auto body in Lexington,North Carolina, he does a lot of early 60’s Bel-Air and Impala 4 door to 2 door conversions.
Thanks, I bought this car as a parts car for a 2 door Impala I was restoring. After the Impala was finished one of my friends and I were at a salvage yard and I saw a basket case 62 Bel Air two door and realized that the tops were the same so I bought some doors, quarter panel patch panels and started cutting it up.
@@johnmccree8941 I think the hard part of chopping the top on this would be the glass. I have watched videos of people keeping the glass standard size and sinking the lower portion of the glass into the cowl and package tray area and cut down the chrome trim. Thanks for your comment.
Yes it should be about the same. You should be able to use 63 or 64 doors and if you can get the door jams it will make the job a lot easier. Thanks for checking out my slide show.
Thanks, I am still trying to decide how I am going to do the interior, I have a original 2 door bench seat with a nos red plaid seat cover or a set of 64 gto bucket seats with old school diamond tuck seat covers. The back side windows are fixed close.
How did you make the new doors? (Or extend the original front doors??) I’d like to attempt something similar with a specific European car; the four-doors are dirt-cheap while the two-dr. costs $40k+
I was able to find two door front doors that were in useable condition, I also had a set of two door jams that I was able to use. On the rear I cut the original doors down to fit between the two door jams and the rear door jams. There are other UA-cam videos showing how to extend the front doors but I was lucky enough to find good useable doors. Check out DD Speed shop on UA-cam, Dan has some good videos how to do 4 door to 2 door conversions.

Thanks for the compliments. I didn’t know if I could make this look like anything nice but I was trying to make it look like a late 60’s street car.
Splendid work.
Thanks
Looks like a official 2 door, nice
Thanks, I started with a $600 car so if I messed it up I wouldn’t be out a lot.
Nice job! I did the same with a 61 hardtop.

@@michaelhuddleston9262 cool, thanks for watching. Yours is awesome; great job!
I literally inherited the exact same car. My aunt bought it new and its been garage kept. Now I'm going to find a professional welder and do this.

@@michaelhuddleston9262 yep!🙂
Really nice, i would love to see how you do the window and interior trims for tye rear
Thanks, I have had questions about the rear glass and interior so I will try to make another video or slide show to cover that.
@@michaelhuddleston9262 what about chopping the tops? No?

Any interior pics? Do the back windows roll up and down? Nice work.
