@dennisleonardo2992 vapaad is a Saber form not a light or darkside ability. It used darkside powers against the ppl using them against the wielder. But was a high chance of turning ppl to the darkside when they utilized it
A Sentinel has a balance of saber combat skill and mastery of the Force, they also compliment those with skills such as stealth, hacking and other non-Force abilities. They even develop social skills with the citizens of the galaxy outside the temples. They are able to hide among the civilians with ease which helps them stalk their targets and gain access to areas where Jedi normally aren't allowed.
I wish they would make a show about a Jedi sentinel. It sounds like an awesome concept! A Jedi that uses dark side force abilities? Hell yeah! One that's paranoid of the dark side but also steadfast and rigid in their pursuit to destroy dark side artifacts as well as agents of the dark side... They could make it about the last sentinel or maybe a Jedi that never fully became a sentinel but was on their way when order 66 was issued. Watching their master get killed, they go into hiding like all the other surviving Jedi... Yes, it's an old concept but it works. Mando uses an old concept that's been done many many times, and look how it did. As long as they found the right actor, this could totally work and would show fans another part of the Jedi order.
They keep touting their abilities but they couldn't even sense palpatine. Edit: If you can't comprehend how flawed their writing is for saying, "because the force was trying to balance stuff herpderp!" then don't bother replying here. Some other dude doesn't see how pis the writing is for doing that instead of going into better detail of how it actually could have been. Unfortunately he can't grasp reality of that and got butthurt by it. Dude said and I quote, "the sith look down on people that hide their presence because they see it as cowardly." Not my fault he got destroyed by his own words and lost even though he stayed in denial the entire time.
I think that’s bc they were pretty rare by that time, if there were even any left. Pre-Ep 1 there were no known Sith for 1000 years so there wouldn’t have been a need for their skills so they were likely re-assigned to temple guards and other smaller jobs.
@@brightlord-ov7cm True, maybe just another example of the council’s arrogance. I believe had more of the old sentinels been around they would’ve figured Palpatine out shortly after the Battle of Geonosis, maybe even before
Even if they did, it’s not like the council let them anyways. Windu, and others wanted to make it their personal mission to stop the sith when they weren’t even trained to. And assigned to essentially be guards only when they should’ve been the ones sent to fight. Guaranteed it would’ve been a different outcome if sentinels took on Palpatine instead of windu and the other council members
Shadow Jedi was trained innthe use of Force lightning, Force telekinesis (force choke, push, and pull), and mental manipulation. But to prevent themselves from fall to the darkside. They spent hours, sometime days in a meditative state to suppress and control the human emotions.
No Jedi was ever taught force lightning it’s a dark side power. And force choke is just using force push or pull any decently trained Jedi could do it they just wouldn’t. Mind you if your referencing the Disney canon then sure as I don’t know what’s happening in there
Maybe the guy from the Ahsoka show was a Jedi sentinel. He looks like the one with the beard and the hood at the beginning of this. Plus yellow plus red = orange lightsaber.
To be a “Grey Jedi” is to dilute the Light side of the Force. When the Force is clearly inherently biased towards the Light. The Force is balanced when the Light is dominate, as shown in the movies, by George himself, SW Legends, and SW “Canon”. One could say the Force IS the Light, and the Dark side is a corruption. Luke’s Jedi Orders is a better representation of the Light, than past Jedi orders. So, why be Grey?
There is no such thing as a grey jedi. It’s made up. Rogue jedi is the term for people like Ashoka. Or a rogue force user. It would be like calling Maul a sith after his initial defeat by Obi Wan on Naboo. Even though he lived he was not part of the Sith order. He was just a dark side force user. The same is said for those who left the jedi order. There is no Grey because it’s not part of the order.
@@90skidcultistLuke's order actually are Grey. Lucas believes the Dark Side is a acancer or a parasite to the Force. But in the EU even being totally embraced in the light is an imbalance which is why the Jedi fell to the TWO Sith. It must truly and totally be BALANCED
@@bobbycoltrane7552 Respectfully, Luke wasn’t a Grey Jedi. He was a die hard Light Sider, just as much as Naomi Sunrider. Look at some of his Light Side Powers😬! His Order was Light Sided, but took on Grey Jedi as well. I dislike when ppl call him Grey, just like when ppl say that Mace, Satele, and Qui Gon were as well, when they clearly were Light Siders. I would argue redeem Revan wasn’t really Grey as well. They just don’t have a problem killing a disarm opponent, if the ends justify the means. Or attacking first. Which isn’t inherently Dark Sided to do. Being fully Light isn’t an imbalance in Legends, being passive was the problem. …And being Grey is. Rejecting love and other Light Side emotions was the problem of past Jedi. Learning about the Dark Side also doesn’t make you a Dark Sider, nor is using some of its abilities. As long as you use it for Light Side purposes. Like saving others. You are Grey when you embrace the Light and the Dark, and the Dark should be rejected. Not banned. Funny how Grey Jedi are often weary of the Dark Side, though. Even the Imperial Knights forbid any practice of the Dark Side. Which just makes them, technically, another faction of somewhat strict Light Siders. Which is color, because “Light” doesn’t have to always be “good”. To their own people, they’re actually pretty “good”.
Completely contradictory - they have such singular hatred for the dark side that they end up embracing elements of the dark side, out of pragmatism. If you hate the dark side in such a way, the temptation of it should never even enter your mind. The only 2 Jedi I can think of who therefore would qualify for such a role, based off their pure devotion to the light, is Yoda & Obi-Wan. And it’s therefore no surprise that those two ended up being the actual true sentinels of the Jedi & the light side, through their actions post-Order 66.

Not many people know about Sentinels beyond the Rebels Episode... but THIS is why my blade is Yellow. Because I may act with passivity and reclusivity... but those who go to the Dark Side must be taught of the real nature of the Galaxy ... and need a lesson in humility.
i think the main reason is because you are not being controlled by either side of the force. they are free to explore the force themselves, finding new styles, which makes them a constant unkown for siths, one because usually sentinels dont dress as a force wielder, so they never know where one can appear, two their fighting styles will all differ, three they arent in the books; making it insanely hard to find them let along target them
They need to do a TV series (live action or animation) on these mysterious but cool Jedi Temple Guards with their equally too cool yellow double bladed lightsabers.
Jedi Sentinels are rare among temples and the Council, because they get involved in the galaxy and it's strife. They travel a lot, wander a lot, and explore a lot. They're basically knight errants, trying to help and uphold the code wherever they go. The quintesential RPG protagonist. Sith don't fear sentinels, but they're wary of them. See, Sith believe the Jedi to be stagnant, staying in their cozy temples trying to achieve peace and harmony instead of seeking conflict, which is what makes the Sith stronger (according to them, at least). But sentinels do. So they beware the yellow lightsaber as a sign of an experienced force user, who has seen the galaxy, and faces evil head on.
I was surprised the Jedi Guardians were not temple guards. Thought the Sentinels were busy roaming the galaxy while the guardians were kept in reserve until an enemy was identified.
I never played the SW MMO but I did play the KOTOR games, where my fav class were the Sentinels. Just so baller! And I loved their Yellow blades. Why mace windu was so beast he channeled a fighting style that used dark side fighting abilities but never tapped into the dark side. Granted his style he can only go heavy for 5 minutes before being winded

This is why many times Jedi Sentinels were given the positions of Jedi Watchmen. Jedi in charge of looking after and protecting various areas of the the Republic.
This did leave them with an Iron Will, making influencing them or coercing them all but impossible. Hence the reason they were also chosen as Temple Guards.
This is why I believe that more of the Jedi that Survived Order 66 were Sentinels than any other Jedi. Because they were more suited to survive when needing to hide their Force Abilities.
@@talisredstar1543 If the Light Side is for defense, and never for attack, then explain Force Push. It's a pretty potent attack, that clearly does rather serious physical damage to the target.
@@arekpetrosian4965 Force Push is more of a neutral ability. Jedi can practice Force Neutral abilities in addition to Light abilities. For Jedi can use Force Neutral abilities like force push to defend themselves and others when needed. any ability can became dark if added with darker emotions
I wish this dynamic was explored more in the video games. I love when they first came out with the first video game where you get to play as one - I def think they could've build off that and made it more intricately interactive in the video games rather than always having you play as the good guy
So they were basically Mace Windus?
Some of them might be so paranoid that they would've probably seen Windu as the next Dooku and tried to kill him.
Just Windu wannabes.
Windu was a Jedi Guardian
Windu didn't use dark side abilities. Vapaad is a light side ability and so is shatterpoint.
@dennisleonardo2992 vapaad is a Saber form not a light or darkside ability. It used darkside powers against the ppl using them against the wielder. But was a high chance of turning ppl to the darkside when they utilized it
I really wish we would have seen all these different Jedi in movies
Man Swtor should of had a inquisition style story line for the Jedi shadow, finding jedi who secretly have fallen or something
True Sith no feel fear just fury and hatred.
There should be a movie about them. They sound super bad ass. How did they get wiped out? I NEED MORE!!!!!!
Agree
Not wiped out ,but a 1000 years without sith did it work on them
A Sentinel has a balance of saber combat skill and mastery of the Force, they also compliment those with skills such as stealth, hacking and other non-Force abilities. They even develop social skills with the citizens of the galaxy outside the temples. They are able to hide among the civilians with ease which helps them stalk their targets and gain access to areas where Jedi normally aren't allowed.
Famous jedi sentinels include:
Not too many. Bastila shan is pretty awesome though. Her battle meditation was op
Plo Koon
Dagan Gera??
@@justjedi707 good point
@@filereaper good point I was unaware of
Seriously there needs to be a movie about Sentinels!
Hard to believe that the Sith were afraid of some Jedi. Awesome video.
💯
Fascinating.
It's a double edged sword, cause the sith end up underestimating their non sentinel opponents... they should have feared Obi Wan.
@@MenagerieOfMadness501 still wouldn't negate what they were trained to be able to do as sentinels.
@@brightlord-ov7cm True, maybe just another example of the council’s arrogance. I believe had more of the old sentinels been around they would’ve figured Palpatine out shortly after the Battle of Geonosis, maybe even before
@@MenagerieOfMadness501 true.
"Relentless pursuit of Dark Side adepts..."
So... they're basically Jedi Inquisitors?
Pretty much
Shadow Jedi was trained innthe use of Force lightning, Force telekinesis (force choke, push, and pull), and mental manipulation.
I would be a Grey jedi. There are aspects of the force that are good and bad. Like the universe that holds it.
I have bpd so I would definitely have had a anakin-Vader character arch lmao
Definitely getting 40k Imperial Inquisitor vibes here. 😳
There's the comment I was looking for :D! Perhaps there isn't much overlap between Star Wars and Warhammer 40k audiences...
Hay can you do atte vs atat
LOL "darkside bad unless we say otherwise " lmao
Because it takes real strength and dedication to urinate on your keiber crystal, in order to turn it yellow......
I mean what a sick story line for a character in a new star wars movie
Completely contradictory - they have such singular hatred for the dark side that they end up embracing elements of the dark side, out of pragmatism. If you hate the dark side in such a way, the temptation of it should never even enter your mind. The only 2 Jedi I can think of who therefore would qualify for such a role, based off their pure devotion to the light, is Yoda & Obi-Wan. And it’s therefore no surprise that those two ended up being the actual true sentinels of the Jedi & the light side, through their actions post-Order 66.
Sentinals would make a great movie/show
Everyone thinking of Rey and filling their mouth with puke
Underrated topic
On The Rise Of Skywalker,Rey wielded a yellow lightsaber, does this made her a Jedi sentinel or the saber just represent her personality?sorry if my question was wrong, just asking
Lot of People think that the color of lightsaber represent the personnality of the force user but that's not true.
@@baptiste1862 I thought that was new canon explanation? That all crystals start out as clear white and the user’s own force energy is what changes the color?
If competent writers were in charge, that might have been true. But it was Dizney. They just did it to make Rey unique.
@@MenagerieOfMadness501 its juste hasardous. Every crystal start without color, and when a connection is cretaed between the force user and the crystal, it take his colour but there is no link between the spirit or philosophy of the jedi and the colour of the crystal. Rey shouldn't have gotten a yellow. The entire sequel trilogy is heresey

So they’re the jedi version of inquisitors
Where were they at during order 66?????
Nowhere. It seems like the jedi high council did everything to undermine the Sentinels after the New Sith Wars and the High Republic era that they were next to non existant as power was consolidated within the council. Except for the Jedi temple guards
They got wiped out 😂😂😂😂😂
They left the Jedi order before episode 1 because they knew the Jedi order was corrupt by politics instead of focusing on the force. Well I don’t know it’s my head canon?
That why I love the yellow 💛
I feel like Qui-Gon Jinn would've made a great jedi sentinel, because Palpatine feared him for the same exact reason
Qui-Gon was deceived by a 19-year-old with no Force ability in "The Phantom Menace."
And fell to one of the weaker modern siths as compared to the amount of power his legend was given. I mean qui-gon is described as a master jedi on par with some of the best in the council and fell to maul?
@@psychocomytic9778 Maul used a cheap trick to defeat Qui-Gon, so it really wasn't a fair fight.
Palpatine didn’t fear Qui-Gon unless this is in new Disney canon then I don’t care

"it wasn't really a fair fight."
Two on one is not a fair fight either. Fights to the death between sworn enemies rarely have very strict rules.
Also, falling for "a cheap trick" is not really the mark of a brilliant investigator or spy, which is what sentinels are supposed to be.
I kind of Lawful Neutral Paladin Zealot. Very cool.

They are the best of the best, and you've never heard of them or seen them actually help the Jedi, but trust me bro.
Yeah, I've got a feeling the Sith feared Obi Wan, Yoda, and Luke more than Rey and whatever other people use a yellow light saber
They should have feared* them.
In other name they were more of a Jedi version of inquisitors or even worse because the empire inquisitors would make sure the person in a jedi before kill it or they would given a chance to convert to the dark side, these sentinels were paranoid and would kill you just because they suspect that you are a sith.
Not many people know about Sentinels beyond the Rebels Episode... but THIS is why my blade is Yellow.
Because I may act with passivity and reclusivity... but those who go to the Dark Side must be taught of the real nature of the Galaxy ... and need a lesson in humility.
i think the main reason is because you are not being controlled by either side of the force. they are free to explore the force themselves, finding new styles, which makes them a constant unkown for siths, one because usually sentinels dont dress as a force wielder, so they never know where one can appear, two their fighting styles will all differ, three they arent in the books; making it insanely hard to find them let along target them
Sentinels should be those very ones on the fringe of being Grey Jedi, if not the specific starting point of those outsiders, my kind.
Proof that balancing between the dark and light is the true path
Clone blaster go pew pew
Yellow is my favorite color!
Seems to me that a lot more movies need to be made. 💯
My favorite type of jedi
I’ve always thought mandolores and Jedi sentinels were my fav!
And then inquisitors and Knights of Ren when it comes to dark side
I never played the SW MMO but I did play the KOTOR games, where my fav class were the Sentinels. Just so baller! And I loved their Yellow blades. That's why in SW Jedi Academy I would first use Yellow and switch to Orange when I got my second lightsaber. Before it didn't mean anything but now with the Fallen Order games and the Ashoka series, YIKES! I may have to rethink my love of the Orange Blade, hahaha.
because the jedi sentinels are the only jedi who can basically says ”f*ck around and find out” to basically any sith they met
Whoa i have this epitome. They should start Galen Marek Starkiller story as one of the elite in Jedi Sentinels as starting story
Sounds like Mace Windu since his form of fighting flirted with the dark side
The exact dogma Dooku wanted to end
It does make them feared just cautious around or near them
We need a live action adaptation of the Jedi sentinels or one Jedi sentinel Canon. I think it would be something new out of the constant content being created regarding Star wars.
I would love to see a show about the Jedi sentinels.
How come they didn't sniff out Palpatine or even Anakin for that matter?
So basically Jedi borrowed from WH40k...
Why mace windu was so beast he channeled a fighting style that used dark side fighting abilities but never tapped into the dark side. Granted his style he can only go heavy for 5 minutes before being winded
Long live the Siths ☠️💀
Would make for some good movie plots, I think five would Living things up some in the universe.
From what I know Jedi Sentinels we’re trained to be spies and learned to pick up skills from normal non force sensitive people like shooting a blaster for example. So it became ridiculously easy for them to blend in with the normal population
Star Wars lore is so interesting
They are a perfect mix of knights and guardians I’m assuming
You had knight(blue) guardians(green) and sentinels(yellow) sith(red) and Mace(purple due to him being a knight but also harnessing power from the dark side (red) making it purple) when I was little
One day we will have the ultimate Star Wars game where our lightsaber will reflect our character choices, even to the point of wielding two sabers like Revan and others in the SW universe
"Any dark side use was and" "they used dark side abilities" hmmmm
Part 2 please
Never let the Jedi win. We need balance!
I guess my gray jedi would be on their hit list🤣🤣
Where did these sentinels come from? I read every book and comic in Legends and don't remember them. Are they from the newer books?
I have a Jedi Shadow in SWTOR, they're nasty. I love him more than even my Sith Jugg
