    Seems like only the most strong willed could be sentinels. Able to use some dark side abilities without being consumed by the dark side. I like to think Ventress would’ve become a sentinel had she decided to join when I was reading Dark Disciple. She did work alongside the Jedi towards the end and was able to use the dark side without being consumed by it.

      From multiple Lore videos.
      Search up the Mortis Arc, and there's a video (Geetsly, I think) talking about the actual relation of the Mortis Gods, and how the Son and Daughter aren't "Dark and Light" respectively, but they have certain aspects of what leads to those sides.

    If only Rey had been written more like this. Her background as a scavenger on a hostile planet would’ve made it PERFECT for her to be a more suspicious, cynical, and neutral Jedi. She easily could’ve seen Dark Side abilities as useful enough to learn. And it would’ve been a good point of contention between her and Luke. Would’ve presented a good parallel between her and Kylo Ren too.

    Difference between Yellow, Grey, and Purple Kyber Crystals since they are often confused:
    Yellow: Shows one as proficient in the knowledge *and* execution of The Force. It symbolizes their balance between combat and scholarship in The Force (The Light Side)
    Purple: Is aligned to the Light Side of The Force but is aware and accepts not only *their* darkness, but the darkness of those around them. Accepting and using the chaos within themselves *and* their opponents, fighting more with their mind in an effort to remain balanced.
    Grey: Accepts and embraces *all things* in The Force as they are. Sees people for people and judges their *actions* and not the belief in which they act on. Is able to not only recognize, but embrace their light and darkness in a rational way that grounds them in clairvoyance. Where the Purple would *use* the chaos, the Grey revels in it. Balancing it out with Light in a way to create a clear and calm mind. Represented in the crystal.

    Would "electric judgement" be considered a Sentinel style ability?

    • @b1_boom411
      @b1_boom411 Рік тому +27

      I would think so, because those like Plo Koon, who used it, had to be extremely disciplined, so that they would only use force judgment, (another name for electric judgement) and not full-blown force lightning

    • @foreverofthestars4718
      @foreverofthestars4718 Рік тому +16

      I'm sure they can, electric judgment is actually a light side ability, so any light side oriented force user should be able to use it. Force lightning is fueled by hate and anger, electric judgement is typically fueled by a strong sense of righteous justice and is typically weaker than force lightning (though the strength of the force user is more important, a strong jedi will have stronger electric judgement than a weak sith's force lightning). Despite being a light side ability, it's still looked down upon by Jedi and often banned because its only real purpose is to inflict harm, though it does less damage than lightning and is mostly used to stun or incapacitate enemies rather than torture or kill. So despite all light side users having the capability of using it, most don't because of the stigma or rules.

    • @talisredstar1543
      @talisredstar1543 Рік тому +6

      Electric Judgment was a game mechanic from a crappy SW game that I loved as kid, but it has zero canonical truth. though there are alot of people that would love to see it made "Real." I have never look for it be.
      The Light side of the Force is as Yoda said. Knowledge and Defense, never to attack. Electric Judgement is strictly aggressive. No it is not as abhorrent as Sith Lightning, but it still goes against the principals of the Jedi.
      I am also old school when it comes to the definition of the Jedi Sentinel. Jedi Sentinels were a mixture between the Jedi Guardian and Jedi consular. The Jedi Guardian focus on the physical aspects of the Force. IE Lightsaber Combat and body enhancement abilities, and Jedi Consular focused on the mysterious of the Force, and use of the Force itself. Many times rarely ever using their lightsaber after constructing it.
      They were a mixture in that they had more skill n the lightsaber than a Consular, but not as much as a guardian, and they had more knowledge of the Force than a Guardian, but not as much as Consular.
      However, they also developed skills from those of the every day variety that would serve them best in their travels. Like Mechanical repair, Slicing, deception, and persuasion of the none Force variety.
      This is why many times Jedi Sentinels were given the positions of Jedi Watchmen. Jedi in charge of looking after and protecting various areas of the the Republic.
      This did leave them with an Iron Will, making influencing them or coercing them all but impossible. Hence the reason they were also chosen as Temple Guards.
      This is why I believe that more of the Jedi that Survived Order 66 were Sentinels than any other Jedi. Because they were more suited to survive when needing to hide their Force Abilities.

    They could make it about the last sentinel or maybe a Jedi that never fully became a sentinel but was on their way when order 66 was issued. Watching their master get killed, they go into hiding like all the other surviving Jedi...
    Yes, it's an old concept but it works. Mando uses an old concept that's been done many many times, and look how it did. As long as they found the right actor, this could totally work and would show fans another part of the Jedi order.

      To be a “Grey Jedi” is to dilute the Light side of the Force. When the Force is clearly inherently biased towards the Light. The Force is balanced when the Light is dominate, as shown in the movies, by George himself, SW Legends, and SW “Canon”.
      One could say the Force IS the Light, and the Dark side is a corruption. Luke’s Jedi Orders is a better representation of the Light, than past Jedi orders. So, why be Grey?

    • @znovosad555
      @znovosad555 Рік тому +34

      There is no such thing as a grey jedi. It’s made up. Rogue jedi is the term for people like Ashoka. Or a rogue force user. It would be like calling Maul a sith after his initial defeat by Obi Wan on Naboo. Even though he lived he was not part of the Sith order. He was just a dark side force user. The same is said for those who left the jedi order. There is no Grey because it’s not part of the order.

      I dislike when ppl call him Grey, just like when ppl say that Mace, Satele, and Qui Gon were as well, when they clearly were Light Siders. I would argue redeem Revan wasn’t really Grey as well. They just don’t have a problem killing a disarm opponent, if the ends justify the means. Or attacking first. Which isn’t inherently Dark Sided to do.
      Being fully Light isn’t an imbalance in Legends, being passive was the problem. …And being Grey is.
      Rejecting love and other Light Side emotions was the problem of past Jedi. Learning about the Dark Side also doesn’t make you a Dark Sider, nor is using some of its abilities. As long as you use it for Light Side purposes. Like saving others.
      You are Grey when you embrace the Light and the Dark, and the Dark should be rejected. Not banned. Funny how Grey Jedi are often weary of the Dark Side, though.
      Even the Imperial Knights forbid any practice of the Dark Side. Which just makes them, technically, another faction of somewhat strict Light Siders. Which is color, because “Light” doesn’t have to always be “good”. To their own people, they’re actually pretty “good”.

The only 2 Jedi I can think of who therefore would qualify for such a role, based off their pure devotion to the light, is Yoda & Obi-Wan. Jedi Sentinels are rare among temples and the Council, because they get involved in the galaxy and it's strife. They travel a lot, wander a lot, and explore a lot. They're basically knight errants, trying to help and uphold the code wherever they go. The quintesential RPG protagonist.
    Sith don't fear sentinels, but they're wary of them. See, Sith believe the Jedi to be stagnant, staying in their cozy temples trying to achieve peace and harmony instead of seeking conflict, which is what makes the Sith stronger (according to them, at least). But sentinels do. So they beware the yellow lightsaber as a sign of an experienced force user, who has seen the galaxy, and faces evil head on.
