Nice one Jethro, great commentary. But man those tyres on Adam and Nathan's bike look skinny. They look like 33mm cyclocross tyres but they are probably 38mm - do you know what they used?
Joel I know Matt Bird was running 33mm on his CX bike (max he could get in there) and Nathan from memory was running 38mm at the least. I think 38-43 was the sweet spot for tyre width on the day.
@@matthewbird1815 wow, 35mm that seems skinny, well done indeed. I've ridden my cx bike on 33mm in the hills but wasn't game on riding it for Seven. Trails seemed in better conditions than previous years though. Congrats on a top ride.
Awesome commentary. Loved the cows and aero socks part LOL! 😂 I'm actually thinking of giving this a try next year. I'm riding a Niner RLT 9 with complete 105 groupset (50/34 and 11-34T) and Hunt 4 Seasons wheelset with 45C Maxxis Riddler tires. I just want to aim to complete the race (125km). Should I go 1x (40T/42T and 11-40/42T) and use narrower tires (35C/40C/etc) or just stick to my current set up and start training? Advice appreciated 😑
Hey! Thanks for watching. You certainly should come and ride SEVEN in 2023! It sounds like your set up is pretty good - I would just try get a bigger cassette for the back so you have a 40t as your largest cog. Other than that, plenty of time to train between now and then 😁
I think he averaged near on 30km/h for the race so the skinsuit and socks still provide an aerodynamic improvement. Regardless of your position, the air still has to flow over the body/legs :)
This is not Gravel, or Gravel Bikes, this is Stoopid Cross, what a joke, in the USA we have had real gravel races for many many years, on real gravel roads, with freeze/thaw/rocks/potholes/sand/snow/ice/rain/sleet etc, the races go 30 miles to 100 miles, this is a money grab, a joke... how can you have a gravel World Championship without gravel roads, on road bikes, Stoopid Joke !!
It is super surprising to see an american say they do something better than the rest of the world, especially on the internet. I get the feeling Don didn't watch this video, and was more upset by the world champs course in Italy than this qualifying event in Nannup, Western Australia. Don, if you're out there, you should come to Nannup in 2024 when the World Champs will be there. I'll even let you pitch a tent in my front yard to save some dollars.
Great coverage of the race!
Thanks Wes!
A perfect race narration,at the level of the Lanterne Rouge,you’re a natural,kudos!
Now that’s a compliment - thanks!
This is the video recap the race needed! Good stuff!
Thanks brother!
Yes yes yes yes yes thank you!
Yeah AJ!
Fantastic commentary! Proper insights as well as a lot of laughs. And the video footage was epic in places. Chapeau sir.
Top!! The best gravel recap on youtube. Thanks for share!
Wow! This is a beautiful race. The scenery just majestic. Wow! I want to do this ride.
Brilliant commentary
Fantastic insight for those of us that have never ridden the race. Thanks very much for posting 😀
Thanks Stu!
The cinematography was terrific!
This was great, keep on with this type of local coverage!
Incredible scenery
This is awesome! Nice commentary Jethro. ☝🏼
So that's what was happening up ahead! Nice commentary.
Brilliant commentary ✌️
Awesome video and commentary! Would be nice to know the performance stats of the top finishers such as their times and average speeds.
According to Blazevich’s Strava file - 29km/h @290W average after 4h 20.
@@thepressroomcyclingpodcast thanks!
Enjoyed that video.
Thanks Gary :)
Nice job at commentary 💪💪💪
Thanks Luis!
"Cadence stops at the end of an ERGO set style" 🤣🤣
Love it! 😍
Great stuff Jethro! Gonna have to get myself some next-gen, recycled-whale kit for that competitive edge 😁 🐋♻
I’m keen for some whale bibs

Hi Joel, I was on 35mm pirellis because i can only fit up to a 38, I’m pretty sure Adam was running 40mm
@@thepressroomcyclingpodcast thanks Jethro

Will there be any footage like this for unbound?
I’ll make some enquires!
Good job, but 480p wtf? 🤭
The 19 place belongs at age group 50-54. Uau!!

Whoever 074 was, what's the use of wearing aero socks and a skin suit when your riding position is about as far removed from aero as possible? lol
I think he averaged near on 30km/h for the race so the skinsuit and socks still provide an aerodynamic improvement. Regardless of your position, the air still has to flow over the body/legs :)
But yes, aerodynamics less important here than in a 150km road race on flat terrain. It all counts tho!
You do realise he won? So perhaps he was right to chose aero?
Was he pressing on was he
Yes he was
Ya nomás con ver la palabra Trek eso apesta.
