    I've the same SFF (an EliteDesk 705 G4) and the exact GPU that I had just upgraded last night. I'm definitely also getting the same temps as yours (mine has junction and hotspot temps going up to 104°C) and I am kinda worried about those high numbers. I'm trying to find out if those numbers are still within allowable operating ranges.

    Great video! I have the same model prodesk 400 g4, however with the i5-7500 cpu. I have been looking at using a rx 6400 for this unit but had concerns about the stock 180w psu. Is the PSU in your video the stock 180w? Do you have an issues using something rated under what AMD recommends at 300w?

    • @TechLionPCs
      @TechLionPCs  11 місяців тому +3

      It is using the stock 180W PSU, which is working just fine. Never an issue with anything tested!

      I5 7500 is 65w tdp and rx6400 is 53w tdp so youre fine

      @@TechLionPCs I have the same build with the same PSU, identical however I did notice an issue and I wonder if you had it too.
      When I was gaming under full load the PSU got very hot and at some point there was some sort of burnt smell coming from the PC
      I checked temps of the GPU (which was at 90c) and the CPU (which was at 70-80c) and they were alright, however the fans were spinning under full load.
      Did you have similar issue regarding heat?

    • @TechLionPCs
      @TechLionPCs  9 місяців тому

      @@mall142 I never had a "burnt smell" experience but can confirm that the card does run HOT as there isn't any space between the GPU and the PSU. Plus the single fan in a single slot barely can keep up with the card. The 2 slot variant of the 6400 doesn't have this issue but unfortunately is not viable in this tiny case.

    • @mall142
      @mall142 9 місяців тому

      I checked and tested it again and the smell wasn't from the PSU but probably because the GPU was very new when I tried it. The smell disappeared later on, thanks

    Does yours get hot? And does it randomly stop loading adrenaline software? I’ve had these issues with mine and I’m worried it could be a faulty card

    • @TechLionPCs
      @TechLionPCs  10 місяців тому

      I can definitely attest that the 6400 LP model does get spicy so the fan on it is going full tilt at all times. The ones that are two slots or regular size with better coolers can handle the heat well. However there were no issues with the AMD Adrenaline software nor any problems with playing anything from there.

      Pairs of 2x8GH 3200mhz sticks from 51Risc. The i5-8500 doesn't support anything faster so stuck with what was cheap and available. Plus since it's an enclosed case, didn't need to think about internal aesthetics.

    Added an RX 550 (got for $35)to wife's Prodesk 400. Even undervolted it got too hot for my liking. (90c+) Got out the Dremel and cut a hole in the case directly above the gpu and added external 90mm fan blowing in. (did have to get a fan splitter as I could only find one fan header) Now stays around 65c under load. Eventually will put a RX 6400 in there if she even wants to play something more demanding than Stray ;)

      @@juggernaut5860 positive pressure and I monkeyed around and added smaller fan (very small, don't remember size) to the rear for exhaust, I ultimately removed it because it was too loud. Already had the 90mm blowing in and honestly never thought to flip it...also removed the cpu shroud. There is ALOT of airflow exiting from the rear. I know it's quite ghetto, but ultimately she can "game" on a machine I bought for her circut and 3d printer.

    Would the A2000 work with the stock PSU? Thanks

    • @no-barknoonan1335
      @no-barknoonan1335 3 місяці тому

      Yes, the A2000 at stock clocks works fine on anything 240W or better tbh. It says 300W, but you won't see it pull more than 70W. It does depend what kind of CPU you have and how many fans, drives, RAM, etc..
      My build uses a 10400 and A2000 and I get below 150w in total system power draw when measured.

      Nope. Don't appear to. Not sure what this guy's magic is but I tried two units and neither worked... they recognized an Rx 550 but not the 6400. Updated the bios too and it didn't help.

    • @matthewward5828
      @matthewward5828 9 місяців тому +2

      Ok... got it to work. For whatever reason you can't get into bios with.the card. You have to 1) install an operating system with either integrated graphics or a different card. Then 2) enable legacy boot and disable secure boot in the bios. Then 3) disable igpu in favor of pcie in bios, save and power off. 4) add the 6400 and power on - it takes a minute because nothing displays until login screen. This worked with Debian 12 but would work for Windows as well I assume.
