Kinda seems like Dawn of War 2, but clunkier. And yellow. Yellow orcs, yellow map, and golden stormcast all blend together to look like a mess.
Yes thats the idea 😂
It's the Ghur 🤷
They need to make the units pop more, its a sucky spectator experience when you have brown units on a brown background.
Yes. This. They also look strangely meager to me as well
Not just bad for spectators. Easy as a player to lose track of how bad a fight is going or quickly glance across enemy units without noticing if they all blend in.
The game has a full army customiser you can change the colour of all your units armour, skin ect to customise and solve this issue
Needs some slaanesh purple and tzeentch blue
@@postpwnmalonetzeench is on his way 🤷
i hope alot of this is beta the UI is awful looking and the entire interface looks very bad
Professor Pwn, PREACH! I've almost worn my SSD out on the early access of BG3 and I've never been so hyped for a game release. The passion in that game is beyond words, not to mention the voice acting. So, so many potential builds, so little time when you have a job....
The last Panel from Hell today ❤️
I WANT MY PRECIOUS!
Whats BG 3?
@@bigmike93atx-puregamer68 Baldur's Gate 3
The unit design and unit size seems a bit off, if you had said this was a lotr game and those were mordor orcs and just showed a bit of game footage, I wouldn't of known any different.
Unit movement speed is awesome I love how slow it is, you really need to think about positioning, graphics animations look great, nice unit variety and abilities. Unfortunately units die a bit too fast for my liking but I guess I can’t win them all.
Lastly, I do love how the units don’t clump up in combat and respect the space around them unlike many other 3D RTS.
Honestly doesn t look as exciting as coh 2 for example
I think it would been much more popular and fun to play if it was more like traditional RTS IMO
The game seems super Haggard and not in a good way with serious bugs and ability balance issues
No map interaction at all. Without buildings, cover or element destruction.
Those are basic. Please devs, put that in the game and is top top top!!
Why does the game have ability attacks with such massive damage when no units are fast enough to evade such attacks? Unfortunately, it looks like they tried to make a game like DoW 2 or Company of Heroes without understanding the mechanical depth of those games. Fighting for objectives is boring when there are no cover, no suppression arcs, no grenades, no destructible terrain and no proper retreating mechanic.
it's a beta.
@@mogwaiman6048 beta nowadays means mostly finished , don't act like it doesnt
@@VigilantGuardian6750 Yeah I don't have high expectations. But it's not like the beta should either.
I'm getting the impression that some of the haggard is the result of like making a decision that seems cool, and then realizing the implications, and then trying to solve the implications rather than stepping back and re-assessing the original decision.
It seems like the intent of the weird retreating only from melee might be that because melee gets locked in combat but ranged doesn't seem to get locked, maybe they felt it was imbalanced for ranged to have an auto retreat and making it that you have to manually send them back is meant to balance that.
If that's the line of reasoning, fair enough, but it seems to be a better solution might be something like when retreating ranged units they don't get that unstoppable status and they get a speed penalty? That strikes me as a better way to balance it without being frustrating.
Or maybe I'm way off base and don't understand the game at all 🤷♀️
I think it might be trying to design the game around consoles. A lot of the UI and control issues with the game originate from them designing the game for gamepad first instead of mouse and keyboard.
if you take DoW2 as a great example of it done well - retreating gives big buffs to mov speed and ranged resist; but you become extremely susceptible to melee dmg and can't end the retreat until the unit touches the TC. It becomes a game of cat and mouse in that sense and some of the best parts of a battle are watching retreating units get intercepted and wiped due to either a smart move or poor decision depending on which player you look at
Honestly this game could have good potential and bring in other factions, fingers crossed they do Nighthaunt if all goes well
C'MON ADD THE KHARADRON !!!
Tried it. It plays like a really crappy version of dawn of war.
I think this looks like a good time. Definitely reminds me of DoW 2 I think it was and even seems like it has some similarities to Halo Wars. Ill definitely have to give it a shot.
Looks like they didnt learn anything from Dawn of War 3
man oh man i hope they eventually add all the factions (especially OBR and skaven)
And units. Although come to think of it that'd be terribly hard considering some factions like Fyreslayers have like 5 diff units lol
Probably better if they can’t figure a good work around for smaller factions that they just make them special merc units with their own special objective points you capture.
Fyreslayers, Ironjawz, Sons if Behemat, etc. you capture their point certain maps have, build a contract building on it and they become part of your roster until the point is taken by the opposition.
On further reflection, Fyreslayers can get 3 Magmadroth riders options in tiers(Runesons, Priests, Runefathers) and make the Infernoth an actual unit to pad them out as the big monster faction. Then it’s a smattering of all their variety of different hero units for the rest.
They could push things further by making Grimwraths an actual unit instead of the hero hybrid it is too for a healthier looking roster.
@@ce4879 That's a really cool and interesting suggestion! Sons of Behemat might be a little boring or OP though...
For Sons mercenaries I feel the best solution would be you can only unlock them when you have a tier 3 or 4(they let slip there’s another tier in their camp video) base camp so when you get them late game they’re either facing a full enemy force or suplexing monsters.
Unfortunately, it looks like a crappy dawn of war. Hopefully it gets some big changes
Won't lie, it does not look too good. It certainly has room for improvement, but the base of it seems clunky, ugly, and simply not very fun overall.
Visually it's just ugly and hard to see.
Thought it was as reskin or mod of Company of Heroes TBH. :D
Here is hoping it gets some tweaks to be more dynamic, balanced, and easier to play from a UI standpoint.
...still a step up from the Dune game though. :D
Whew, this game has a lot of fine-tuning and polishing to do.
Based on format, this game should be build straight out of DoW2's textbook; most notably the QoL and balance included in the Elite mod that's sustained the competitive player-base to this day.
I just mostly watched the end part of this video with your and Profpwn opinion on the game.
But i just enjoy how cool your friendship is and how Pumped Profpwn is for BG 3...as am I. Probably my most hyped game in a decade or longer. With BG 2 and series being my all time fav game
Will you play again and if yes, will viewers be able to play against you? I wanna try you
I hate these 3 lane moba style maps a lot of RTS games have nowadays. They're so braindead and boring.
I def prefer basebuilding
@@turinRTSso do i. It's a shame they've not made a dawn of war 3.
Game does look like fun if clunky and definitely need to do a better job of distinguishing things like units but hopefully they fix some things.if we do get more stuff down the line I hope we get more units for existing factions and at least a few more factions my hope would be for the beastclaw raiders and mawtribes as a whole
orks look more like lord of the rings than warhammer
game looks bad imo
I'm just here for the "I hate AoS but I never supported WHFB anyway" comments. 😎
I understand the need to slow the game for accessibility, but this speed is narcoleptic. Also by being locked in combact the micro potential is just not existent. Everything else can improve , but this core i don't think can really change and is just not for me
Aye I really dislike being locked in combat, targeting was rough also
Looks like a dawn of war 2 mod....
Only problem is RTS games need to be snappy need to be quick and responsive, and this beta was seriously lacking. The devs have some work still to do
not every rts game needs to be fast like starcraft
@sharkpyro93 yeah but this is that slow it's actually painful. Did you even try the beta
@@GG21188 yea its a bit slow my point was that a middle ground is the perfect spot for game pacing, i really dont like starcraft/aoe2 that requires you go in korean apm god in order to play properly
Mediocre GW game number 467 on board.
This is the snooziest RTS I've ever seen.
Feels like an extremely scuffed version of Dawn of War
You really need to micromanage your battles better man 😅
Tier 1 vs tier 3 is not a good match-up
You kept avoiding buying a killboss on Gnashtooff
This game is looking very Dawn of War 2 which I love (I love DoW 1 more though) so give me Skaven and Chaos then I will be even happier.
Game looks quite bad. I think this is the kind of game I'll just play on PS5 when the disk goes on sale in the future. With this glacial pace it feels like a waste to even sit at my desk and touch the keyboard, might as well be on the couch...
Its a moba not a rts
im so excited for this game!! i really hope it does well it would be awesome if ANY age of sigmar game got some traction, love your videos turin been watching since the haggard days of early total warhammer 2
>capture points
sigh nevermind, maybe next game will be good.
Admittedly I'm starting off from a position of not enjoying the AoS Lore or World. But this isnt impressing me, seems derivative and clunky on top at that. Think I'll be passing on this one and engaging more with CoH3 once the patch comes out soon (around 18 July).
Agreed
Cities of Sigmar should have been the Order faction so the many members of the community like you could immediately have a home and start dipping their toes in the setting with something familiar: Elves, Men and Dwarves in one army just like Warcraft 3. Pushing the posterboy Stormcast just isn't drawing new people in.
@@goodoldaley6375 Can't use CoS right now, the faction isn't finalized yet.
To be fair it's an early access beta and WHFB is the most derivative setting GW has.
@@mogwaiman6048 Man you are a weapons grade copium addict, when people give legit criticism of the game's mechanics don't go GW Defender mode. This game is really rough around the edges and needs solid work if they do it then it might be a decent RTS as I don't mind build plot base building mechanics. I'd rather see this game take inspiration from Warcraft 3 using your commanders as chess pieces to turn the tide of battles and support your force.
This game feels like an expensive mobile game, it just feels shallow.
Doesn't look too good tbh... another rushed warhammer game...
I love AoS, but this seems a touch undercooked. In particular the UI feels more like a mobile game than anything else. I will probably be skipping it myself unless serious improvements are made, though at least the models look great.
I think a lot of people are wary of this game because of the setting, which is inevitable with how clumsily the End Times were handled, but as the years go by I'd like to think (at least hope) it'll eventually be forgotten and those last few people will either move on or give the setting a chance for what it is.
For what it's worth, Turin, if you feel the 'Space Marineness' of the Stormcast is distracting at a glance, it can help to imagine them more as good-guy Chaos Warriors - which actually isn't that far from what they are.
I just hate the naming scheme in AOS, literally everything is a compound word, just makes it silly and clunky
all the Warhammer settings do that, it's not like naming affects gameplay anyway.
I like Era of Sigmar
I weiting this game
This game is a dream come true for me but it for sure need to get some hot fixes. Units need to pop more.. All that yellow is not good for the game. Better UI. Show HP, attack, armor on the units. I sure hope the can make this game as great as DoW2. Keeping my eyes on this one for sure to see how it goes.
Looks a lot like Dawn of War 2 and i loved that shit. Excited for this now
If they make more factions and polish the game then I think it'll be a brilliant game. If they don't expand on the factions quickly, it'll get boring really fast.
My experience with it so far was it was a bit sluggish and jank, but that can fixed with polish. Overall was a decent experience. Just excited to see more factions and hoping for sub factions, as skins, at least.
I really hate age of sigmar unit names. They tend to be silly or exaggerated (Everything must sound like the bestest ever so they sell them), and they change them from the original because of copyright reasons (so they can have them copyrighted). Killaboss? Hobgrots? Agh! It's enough to put me off AoS stuff, even if it hadn't killed the Old World. If this game is good it's kind of right in the middle of my interest, though, but...oh well. It looks like I might like the gameplay, and this is nitpicking anyway.
Is it just me, or does this game feel like a 40k game with a Fantasy skin?
You just described age of sigmar!
this game needs veterancy
Where is the base building ?
I hope thisngame is good, but tbh when i look at it all i can think is why are we still getting coh derivatives when nothing like vattle for middle earth two has come outnin decades?
This is a good point. Could you imagine being able to make your own custom Warhammer heroes in a game like this?
i hope the game lives long enough for me to see steampunk dorfs in it.
if 40k is space marines cant these ageless beings be time marines?
Too bad it's aos...
You are the best Turin! Was curious about this one 😎
If DoW reboot failed miserably why try this again?
DoW reboot?
@@sharkpyro93 was it 3? Can’t remember
@@bhabiecorleone3764 yeah
Can't wait for the 40k mods
Virtually nothing original about this game, very sad, feels like RTS made for mobile phones with the UI, large unit icons and super simple upgrade/build modes
Should have copied Warcraft 3 or Battle for Middle Earth rather than Dawn of War.
This reminds me of dawn of war 3
Has a very LoTR vibes.
I feel like AoS people are copium addicts, this honestly looks terrible
A few things strike me as unpolished, but I think the worse decision yet was to put the Stormcast at the head of this game and I am saying this as someone who enjoys the lore.
Cities of Sigmar/Dawnbringer Crusades should have been the Order faction from the start. This way, Total War Warhammer players and the large part of the community who still find AOS unappealing due to the original reveal, or other reasons, immediately have a home be they Human, Dwarf or Elf enjoyers.
I'm sure Turin would have had a much better time playing as/against a Warcraft 3 type of "Human" faction with special Dwarf and Elf units instead of the Totally Not Space Marines.
False, the crybabies would have found something else to bitch about anyways, they're a lost cause who should be ignored and removed as they haven't provided any value in a decade other than try to sabotage the company
TO BOTH TURINS ILY
Still a long way to go.
I found it funny how positive you guys are here, to me the game is utterly shit from the gameplay perspective. The art is cool, but terrible design (it's clearly done for controllers) and gameplay, can't even quite or micro the battle at all!
He's literally paid to be positive. Even if this game company isn't paying him, he receives significant funds and attention by partnering with GW subsidiaries for other projects.
Preach. Looks garbage
If you watch the end, you get my opinions. Overall, I am disappointed, but will keep an eye on the game, and perhaps give it another round at launch. Certainly not something I'm going to cover on the channel as it stands.
@@turinRTS I mean't the guys in the posts are like suuuuuper positive, there are fun factors, think first thing is to actually fix the atrocious netcode.
Lol cus capturing and positioning works really well here. Not to mention a focus on combat instead of just base building and worrying about your starting space. It's like endwar almost which was a insanely fun game. And it's only in open beta. If anything it seems like old world fans are just butthurt they didn't get another game even though it really only works with the total war formula. A bigger dawn of war 2 is what I wanted since dawn of War 2battles were a bit too small for my liking
Going to guess the 4 launch factions will be sigmarines, kruleboyz, slaves to darkness and nighthaunt. Kind of a shame about the nighthaunt. GW have been pushing them so hard even though they've been bombing since 2nd edition launch. I don't dislike nighthaunt, but they feel kind of overused at this point.
Looks like they are trying to force the multiple lane "Moba" esque aspect a bit on this, that's what entirely killed DoW3 (Along with lack of changes and support).
Age of Suckmah
Really liking what I've seen so far, really hoping the polishing they do to the UI really helps a lot though because I kind of wish you could get more information on stuff quicker-- maybe make it a smaller more clear hotbar?
Other than that, feels like a pretty worthy successor to DOW 2 so far.
ah yes, the sigmarines
I will be honest, i dont get why anyone really enjoys AOS. If you love it thats fine, but Warhammer Fantasy is better. With better lore IMO, like why put pseudo space marines in it.
6 unit cap, tons of UI issues. Looks like a mobile game port.
"No sir, I dont like it...".
-Mr. Horse
Reminds me a bit of Battle for Middle Earth.
Glad they took inspiration from Dawn of War 2, definitely look very promising, though I may not jump in till there are more factions though. I need to see some Chaos love first.
I love this game already but THE ORKS SUCK compared to the storm cast wow they need balance
Orks are stronger once you learn it
Yeah just played a few more rounds with them idk I still feel they are to fragile but I am enjoying the game I'm excited for the release nice video also!
I do like the AOS universe more and more. There is no way it can measure up to the Old World universe and that is what it always will be compared with.
But as a stand alone universe, take out the memories of the Old World, it has some nice lore and amazing characters and units, but that is my personal opinion of course.
Still, .. I am glad they bring back the Old World though 😊
I disagree, I played WHFB and I think AoS is the better setting. It's also the more successful TT IP. The old tactical squad space marine box outsold WHFB, so did Middle Earth Strategy Battles.
@@mogwaiman6048 When AOS runs for as long as WHFB, is so popular it needs to get brought back after GW ruins it through their own actions, has several enormously successful games made based from it, dozens of books made from it, then we might be able to consider reasonably if AOS is a more successful IP. Until then, not a chance
@@Faust64 AoS will sell more models. The video game royalties and book sales don't trump model sales. It's why TOW is a specialist design studio game and AoS is a flagship game.
Personally not a fan of AOS, it's not a warhammer universe to me.
Aye, I feel the same way
it's definitely a Warhammer universe, a more successful TT IP than WHFB ever was. Most of you all never even played WHFB anyway. Not sure why there is so much tribalism about this.
@@mogwaiman6048
I could not care less about how "successful" it is, I bet it will get outperformed by Old World. 40k is the best-seller, by the way. I also said that it is not Warhammer-y to me, if you like it, good for you. To me, it lacks the quasi-historical groundness of Fantasy, which is the main appeal of the latter. It also has some shitty lore elements and setup, the whole aesthetics do not work.
@@LukeGeoDudeI'm well aware of 40k, I play both 40k and AoS. The only tabletop game outselling AoS is 40k. TOW won't outsell Horus Heresy. I also played WHFB, it was a dying setting and the last good edition was 6th edition.
Also if the elements of AoS don't work why is it successful?
@@mogwaiman6048 Same reason why Marvel is successful I guess.
Listen man, I told you that I don't like it and I gave you reasons why I don't like it. You keep playing your game and enjoy it.
