Hi!
Since I bought the car it has an issue that made the car vibrate in first gear, at start up.
I ended up replacing the clutch kit, the flywheel and also the engine mounts.
In this video I present the condition of the parts that were taken out of my Audi A4 2.0 TDI 6 speed manual with 280000 km on the clock.
The behaviour is now much better, but a small vibration I can still feel at start up. Stay tuned for one of my next videos, I plan to dig deeper to completely solve this issue.

Hi my friend, i bought an Audi approved 1.4 b9 with 57000 km on it and before i got it delivered the dealership replaced the clutch (no flywheel, though) . i noticed gear knob vibration and didnt pay much attention and now here i am, 1500 km later with a slipping clutch. The dealership replaced the clutch again (not the flywheel which is worrying) but this time they mentioned i have worn out engine mounts. i really hope that replacing the mounts will help me enjoy the car. However, owning an Octavia mk2 2006 for 259.000 km without any clutch/engine mounts replacement makes me a bit skeptical on the Audi . Thank you for your effort and knowledge sharing.
Hi! I am sorry that you have to go trough these poblems. Audi are very nice cars to drive when they run well. In my point of view all newer cars are less reliable compared to older cars, all brands included. It’s just how the industrie goes right now.
Regarding the clutch, for sure engine mounts are amplifying all vibrations if they are worn out, but a flywheel replacement would have made things a bit better.
I am courios why the clutch was slipping so soon… this is strange. Did they changed also the pressure plate? Did they used the wrong clutch disc? 🤷♂️ really strange.
Please give us un update here, I am looking for a B9 upgrade in the next months so I very interested in your story.

Your clutch & flywheel is in perfect condition. To all with vibration on 1st gear when start running. The problem is on the clutch cylinder or Master Cylinder clutch. if this does not solve the problem, there is only one check left. the planetary bearing in the gearbox housing. all the cars I repaired had one of the listed problems. do not ignore this message, I have repaired more than 50 cars with this problem. to check the Master Cylinder clutch look for leaks at the clutch pedal. to check clutch cylinder look for leeks under the gearbox . to check the planetary bearing in the gearbox housing. grab planetary and see if had muvment in the gearbox. sorry for bad english.
Hi. The play in the flywheel eas really big. But it might be that it was still working. After changing the engine mounts the 1st gear vibration was gone for a while. Now it startet to do it again but at a low level. I’ve checked the planetary play in the gearbox, it had no play. But I never tought the clutch cylinder can be an issue. That’s a very good tip to check, thank you! Where are you located? I assume you are also from Romania?
@@istillplaywithcars yes.in 80% of time is the clutch cilindre from the gearbox. It's also very cheap to fix.

What if it shakes at idle but once I go into first everything is smooth

Hi, did you ever get to the bottom of this and sort the judder?
I had the dual mass flywheel/clutch kit replaced, including release bearing and slave cylinder, but some months after the judder came back. Still present now and feels worse. Changed 6 years ago in March this year but only done just under 34,000 miles since then.

Hi! No, I haven’t done anything clutch related to the car. There is still a small (smaller than in the past) judder in 1st gear. I’ve checked the master clutch cylinder for leaks but I see none. I do have in plan to change it just to check if it works, but I’ve seen that the replacement takes a lot of time and I just could not find the right time until now… 😞

I almost went to get the dmf/clutch kit inc bearing and slave cylinder changed again, but as they have only done 34k miles its not the route I want to go down if they are not the issue but will have a look at clutch slave cylinder to see if any leaks etc.
I also will get round to checking engine mounts as not looked at those. But your video was of help of possible cause/checks to do.
I will! If you have not changed the engine mounts yet, I say that would help also. Because I’ve changed mine at the same time with the clutch kit. They were really worn out.
Nice video👍. You felt a shake before changing the clutch+flywheel at around 70 to 80 km/h and after 120? I replaced engine and gearbox mounts, cv axles and some bushings but the inconvenience it's still there. I was planning to replace the clutch anyway because it's starting to shake like yours in 1 gear but I was curious if you have the shaking at higher speed.

No, beside the 1st gear shaking there was no high speed shake. Have you checked the axle radial play on the gearbox side?
@@istillplaywithcars Yep. Everything in order. Thing is I drove the car around 100.000 km with this issue assuming something will break down eventually but nothing changed in 3 years. I observed the more wider the tyre the more powerful the trepidation. It's in the max torque zone 1700 - 2500 rpm. Hope the clutch replacement will fix it.
I replaced the clutch and the flywheel. During the process the mechanic discovered I have a problem with the left side bearing of the inner axle. Its the problem were the aluminum body of the gearbox wears out and lets the axle vibrate. We fixed it pretty easy, whoever got this issue can find an official tutorial form Audi on UA-cam. It runs smooth now, should have checked it earlier.
Great! I know about that issue, it’s quite common. I have also checked for that, but mine has no play. At least the last time I checked 😂 👍

I have audi a4 b8 mk2 tdi and I have the same clutch issue it seems, the issue appears clearly when I hit a long road if I stopped aside and wanted to make the first gear I feel the motor vibrating, the issue appears less in the second gear, my question is: the should I replace the clutch kit only, or I should remplace also the freewheel too?
From my point of view flywheel also. It has for sure a big play from all the vibrations it suffered. Maybe also engine month. 😁

Hi! It was 1000€ (5000lei) including the 2x engine mounts and labour. I can estimate a 750€-800€ for clutch and labour. 😁
Hi, im looking to buy a 2010 Audi A4, i would like the confort of an automatic transmission but i heard that the Multitronic on this model has alot of issues i would not like to run in troubles that involve thousands of euros, do you know anything about the Multitronic CVT is it rly that bad?
Hi. I’ve heard multiple stories, some say it’s a good gearbox, some say it’s bad. I never had CVT. My view is this one: if it has low mileage, good maintenance and you don’t use it as a sport car, it should be ok.
I think both CVT and Stronic will start to have problems between 250k and 350k km… 🤷♂️
So manual transmission would be basically the best deal?
It’s the safest one, but automatic is nicer. 😁 if money is not a problem, go for s-tronic an save some cash for repairs. 😂

I have the exact same issue with my Audi a4 2008 TDI.
I have changed the engine mounts and the problem is still there and the vibration feels more on the long ride (just on the first gear). I don't feel any noise from my clutch. Somebody here tells you that the problem can be on the clutch cylinder or Master Cylinder clutch.

Hi! I plan to change the master cylinder. I’ve seen that it needs a lot of work so I am waiting for a free weekend to do it. I will for sure make an update if I will change it.

I didn’t changed the cylinder yet. My car still has some vibrations while in 1st gear. Not as bad as before the clutch and engine mounta change, but still there.
Currently i’m thinking about selling the car because I would like something newer, an A4 or a Q5. But I’m not sure yet.
If I will change the master cylinder I wil document it in a video. 😁
I have some strange shaking when I engage clutch into first gear and also start the car engine seem to move side to side a little more than I would think is. irmal as I feel the movement through doors.
my clutch and flywheel was changed at 25k ago and I carnt seem to hear any flywheel noise.
today I buy 2 engine mount and my car is at garage to have them fitted, I hope my problem is this engine mount and I make right choice to change them.
engine mileage is 124k
Sound exactly like my problem. For sure the engine mounts change will improve it. In the first days it will be completely gone, after a few weeks it will start to slowly shake. It will not be as bad as it is now. My next plan is to change the High pressure fuel regulator. I ran some diagnostica and I saw some big fluctuations. So I asume that if the pressure is not correct when I engage the clutch and start deiving the engine will generate additional vibrations, which will degrade the engine mounts and increase in intensity in time. 👍
@@istillplaywithcars I have read about the fuel pressure regulator also! Let me know how you get on with that as I think I'll change mine. I'm not sure of that part will affect performance but my car does seem abit sluggish

@@lukewade7744 I didn’t change them in the end but I think the problem was the mounts as there was oil coming from 1 of them.
I still have not changed the fuel pressure rugulator and also not changed the clutch master cylinder… but I still plan to do it, sometime…

Nu, dar la fel pățesc și eu după ce fac un drum mai lung, îmi Trepidează la plecarea de pe loc in viteza 1, dar dacă plec cu viteza 2 nu mai Trepidează, ma gândesc sa nu fie acel cilindru.
Tot am in plan sa il schimb. Dar timpul liber nu ma ajuta…

Am schimbat si eu suportii dar mare diferenta nu vad ,adica atunci cand schimb si ii dau drumu la ambreiaj se duce asa in fața in spate ,intelegi ce zic ,si cred ca am si ambreiajul ca parca aud un sunet parca ar fi rulmentul ,cat te a costat ambreiajul
Salut! Eu am platit 5000 lei pe ambreiaj (cu volanta), suporti motor si manopera. Deci probabil vreo 3500-3800 a fost ambreiajul si manopera.
