Series S here. Apart from a few early hiccups (turned itself off once, disconnecting controller), it's been fine after a couple of updates. Nice and quiet. Hot big vent let's me know it's doing its job.
It is more CPU demanding than anything. They really refined it for the consoles, and the PC benefits as well with the new update. The Clouds even on Series X take a hit from the PC, but overall looks fantastic on both. Kudos to the MS Flight Sim team.
Looks better on Series X but Series S wins this for me. Has no right looking and performing this well on a console that costs less than a Nintendo Switch.

The modern CPU of the Series S is really showcasing the 'next-gen' difference here. Despite having better GPU and memory bandwidth, even the Xbox One X would have a miserable time trying to run this just because of its weak Jaguar architecture.
Yes, the cpu in next gen consoles is equivalent to r7 3700x gaming cpu unlike the last gen consoles which uses a slow jaguar cpu in which developers are having a cpu bottleneck.

We have truly entered the "next-gen" of gaming. Having a complex simulator like MSFS running on a console was unheard of even 10 years ago. Now, Series X/S is running one of the most unoptimized (in general) simulators on the market with impressive visuals and expected (30fps) performance. By the way, it's a simulator, so it's not just about the graphics, or high frame rates. It's simulating aerodynamics, weather, aircraft systems, etc. while also rendering dense ground scenery, too. Flying from first person (cockpit) should help with frame rates if they're analog dials and not digital readouts.

This just goes to show that Phil Spencer's trust in the Series S was not misplaced, a technical marvel and Asibo Studios show other developers that you can do wonders with it.
They look exactly the same, except one is 4K and the other is 1080p. Watching this video in 4K really shows how impressive both consoles were. Basically same amount of detail and performance, with only difference being resolution.
Need an interior comparison shot, but other than that - great video. The Series S just looks 'softer' but still very impressive. The Texture quality is definitely lower than on PC ultra however. Those Zen2 CPU's are WAY better than previous console generations , allowing these sorts of insanely computationally heavy games possible on consoles. Thanks AMD.

xbox is literally just getting started that is the crazy thing. Not even flight sim is making use of all the tech in the box. Microsoft has the hardware, software support, and infrastructure with game pass/cloud to have a great gen. Real gamers should be excited.
I’m in Australia and would like to get MSFS for XBox. Currently the series X console has a back order wait time of weeks or possibly months. Can be found on EBay, but at a large premium, like twice RRP. Question is will it operate reasonably well on XBox series S ? Thanks in advance.

1:24, looks like the s is using low quality textures and render distance is cut off a lot, the buildings look especially horrible, the x is looking great tho.
@Kyo look at the transition from xbox series x to s, you can clearly see that buildings are using low textures and the buildings which are far away disappear.
The main thing that separates the XSX from the One X is the architecture. Zen 2 on both the SS and SX so you're getting a next-gen experience either way whereas the One X, despite being more powerful, will eventually be held back by the old Jaguar architecture.
It's a war that us Series S owners cannot ultimately win. There is nothing wrong with admitting that the Series X/PS5 are the more powerful consoles while simultaneously enjoying the heck out if the Series S. Going to war is not worth it with them. Now last gen...that's a different story lol!!

The major difference is the draw distance is shorter on the s but its the exact same graphically
The buildings are much more blurry on the Series S video on my 65 inch TV

1:24, looks like the s is using low quality textures and render distance is cut off a lot, the buildings look especially horrible, the x is looking great tho.
@Kyo look at the transition from xbox series x to s, you can clearly see that buildings are using low textures and the buildings which are far away disappear.

The main thing that separates the XSX from the One X is the architecture. Zen 2 on both the SS and SX so you're getting a next-gen experience either way whereas the One X, despite being more powerful, will eventually be held back by the old Jaguar architecture.
PS5 would melt trying to run this game.

It's a war that us Series S owners cannot ultimately win. There is nothing wrong with admitting that the Series X/PS5 are the more powerful consoles while simultaneously enjoying the heck out if the Series S. Going to war is not worth it with them. Now last gen...that's a different story lol!!
