  • This was a fun family vacation. Ely, NV is a quaint small town that was established in 1878 as a stagecoach station along the Pony Express. We rode a steam train operated by Nevada Northern Railway. This train was used to move gold and silver ore from the mines in the area. We also went to Great Basin National Park and viewed Lehman Cave, the most decorated cave in the United States. On the way back to St. George we stopped at Frisco, Ut and viewed a ghost town at Horn Silver Mine. An extremely enjoyable trip.
