Hello from Michigan! Man...I'd do that in a 💓 heartbeat! It looks like more fun than Disneyland, and costs A LOT less. Thank you for posting this...I had a blast, and Thank You to the Nevada Northern R.R. for allowing it to happen. ✌😁💥
tell us about your speeder construction,,,problems and solutions. gear ratios,,,vegetation and tree removal issues, cargo and items carried,,, radio scanners,,, drilled axles for wheel gauge change options,,, dimensions and weight,,, extra gas and options for manual pedaling if engine fails....we are interested,,,,,great videos and thanks for your efforts to do a great video
Thanks for that good to know it is still used by trains from the Nevada northern rail museum, I hate to see rail lines either completely abandoned or even worse pulled up, so short sighted removing rail infrastructure I always think , once again thanks for great video and for your reply,
Looks like you coulda kept going. I see you only had tools, what about extra gas, you never when your gonna need it. I jus love this rail road riding abandon lines, thanks for sharing this, keep it up👍👍👍
Devendra this is the end of the line today. Originally the line ran further into the big smelter where the ore was deposited and smelted. This was a railroad the hauled tons of copper ore and pure copper.
@@klaus9714 More track is seen beyond the gravel road . How far I have no idea . A shovel and hoe should take care of "road maintenance" for the ambitious .
How do you find out what tracks you can ride? I live in Michigan and know several but don't even know if its legal. would be a fun hobby this year all considering.
You should always ask for permission to ride from the owner of the railroad. I had permission from NNRY to ride here. Any railroad is private property.
The only problem I see here is that these tracks are not abandoned at 1:46 you can see the silver top of the rail as the sun reflects off of it still pretty cool though
The ride is smooth. The end of the line is where I stopped tracks were removed years ago. At one time it led the the mill where the copper ore was dumped and processed.
I see from the plate on the back of the sea that you too are from Boise., If you ever want to ride the Thunder Mountain line from Cascade to Horseshoe Bend, let me know.
Brian Fedline, I just saw your comment. I would be interested in riding that line. Do you work for the Idaho Northern Railway? I have talked to them and hadnt had much luck. the line is currently in fair shape except for rock slides and down trees.
What kind of range do you have, and how far can you normally go on an excursion? How much homework do you do to be sure your ride doesn't end a mile down the track?
What if any are the legalities of that? Do you need permission to trespass or anything??? I want to do that so bad. Could you help with any information please??
You always ask for permission before riding. Always tracks are owned by someone. Some lines can be unused and grown over. Good indication that nothing runs and sneeking on and off may be fun. You can build it all yourself. I bought my wheels from a good friend who runs railriders.net.
I could imagine cowboys on their horses riding along side those steamy locos and old carriages shooting in the air like crazy while robbing trains, what in interesting era.
Are you able to give me any information on where this particular track is located please? My father has a really sweet speeder and he and I are looking for some abandoned track in Nevada that is open to rail fans . Thank you for any help in advance and thank you so much for sharing your videos. 👍🏽😎
Milspec Machine there is not much abandoned lines in Nevada. This video is from the Nevada Northern Railway. Not sure if they will let you ride. I volunteer there and have permission. They don’t always let people ride.
I am making the plans for building a rail cart. I like you idea of the backup pedals, in case the engine gives up. I have not decided if use steel or aluminum for the frame. I am trying to keep it as light as possible. Where did you get the rail wheels?
Very cool and we are actually thinking of taking what we learned with this bike and building a new one out of aluminum here soon as this one is a little heavy. the wheels came from Rons Railrider Wheels here is a link to his site they were quite pricy about $920 i think for them. but well worth it as it rides quite and true. www.railriders.net/
Eriks Gar. You should get a horn, air or electric, long, long, short, then long as you enter the crossing. Also, 24 to 36 vdc pulse in the rails to turn on and off crossing lights, fwiw. You guys s are kewl!
Marlene wants to fight! -- Well i don’t know if this is a troll or not but i just noticed i said 350 and not 360 😂. So to make a 360 VR video, there are many companies out there who make these cameras... Some very affordable and some very expensive. Im partial to Insta360... wide range of cameras and prices. But there are a lot of companies that make very good and affordable cameras. Simple to operate and do a great job.
TY!!!! me & my wife don't go anywhere for "vacation" but nothing really interests us, we each have done a lot & traveled, but for a vacation all we ever do is just a day trip into local mountains, but whats funny, is we both have fell in love with this concept, so as soon as I can learn more & where this can be done, & I can afford to spend a little to purchase, we really want to do this! so this looks like too much fun, coming from a biker thats traveled quite a bit on 2 wheels that had no plans to ever "go on vacation" again, I am open to any links to where we can go & general info on this hobby
Gary Jones the rail road is still in operation. The NNRy has several steam engines and a couple of Diesel engines. They do tours to Ruth all the time, and in the winter they go On Polar Express excursions. The railroad north of McGill is mostly abandoned though, and the highway department paved over the tracks at Currie
Out there in sunny Nevada, you'll soon be going Solar Powered, its' now year 2020, in case you country kids hadn't noticed. Use cheap Chinese electric bicycle drive wheel's, two of them, one for each track, "regen" type hubmotors and solar panels on the roof but keep the pedal's. Good luck, happy days.
Don't forget to mention the cost cost for your inviro power components compared to a 200$ Harbor Freight 6 1/2 hp engine. You will get sticker shock soon enough when you price the composite wheels for this rail 'experience' ! Everyone seems to be gitty over green everything until the hidden costs are uncovered . Get a cyber job everyone, that pays big bucks , your going to need it just to live !!
The music, the scenery, the whole idea of building something yourself and getting it out there is fantastic! Good luck in your endeavours....
Greetings from Australia, thank you for the great ride along with you. Two thumbs up.
I love these rail riding videos.
Great fun, thanks for taking us along with you........
This is so cool. Looks like a fun way to travel!!
A little fun on a deserted line.
Thank You for sharing the great ride ! I expect the ride after the construction of the machine is the reward .... we’ll done !

Thoroughly enjoyed! Awesome scenery
Great job on your rail cart and a great video too! Felt like I was there with ya !
What's fun is that I know where you were along that rail line, having spent tons of time in Ely through the years. Cool!
Definitely by far the best rail car I’ve seen. Most of them are just a cheap piece of plywood tiny little wheels. This is high-quality stuff.
Great music choice. It looks like the place to film a spaghetti western. This line doesn't have to worry about fallen gum trees and blackberry bushes.
best soundtrack ever!!! i love the video
Very interesting mechanical set ups on that rig. Good video.
I think I would probably love this....I’d be tempted every few yards to go rock hounding..looks awesome and amazing.👍👍😀
That looks like a heck of a lot of fun got to add that to my bucket list
too cool you have both gas and peddle power - great video
looks like lots of us have been recommended rail riding / biking videos in the last week or so. They've become a trend now
Dadgum it have you been watching A lot of them? If so, then that’s why.
Off and on for years of wanted to build one my roadblock is finding the wheels
Ely, Nevada ❤
Love and miss Nevada -
Me too! Grew up in Reno
This is on my bucket list for sure.

aaaaasome video with great scenery. enjoyed my ride
These tracks are so nice. Simone should open and maintain them for fun travel like this
Super cool! Thank you for sharing.
What dude has never dreamed of doing this ?! It's so Awesome
Molto bello!!! E bella anche la musica… saluti dall'Italia!
Looks like a blast! So awesome!
They still have some hand car set-offs, along the track, for you to use in case an excursion train approaches.
I wonder what the MPG is on that. I would think it would get great mileage because the friction should be pretty low.
Is this a prototype for the California bullet train?
Brown and Newsome designed it themselves Only a billion each . Good one Bill .
Kinda but its faster
You gotta start somewhere... lol...
Bill Taylor yes and 65 billion dollars later
Yes it is a prototype. This will be all the money they can spend after rail construction.
Awesome looking trip would have been nice to do thank you for the video.
Is this line still in use ocasionly ???? Great countryside , thanks for great video very enjoyable
Allan Cron the line is used by the Nevada northern railway museum. They operate all summer and late fall. I got permission to ride on these rails.
Thanks for that good to know it is still used by trains from the Nevada northern rail museum, I hate to see rail lines either completely abandoned or even worse pulled up, so short sighted removing rail infrastructure I always think , once again thanks for great video and for your reply,
It's between Ruth, Ely and McGill Nevada. Starts near Ruth then heading East towards Ely. The 2nd part is heading North from Ely towards McGill.
Looks like you coulda kept going. I see you only had tools, what about extra gas, you never when your gonna need it. I jus love this rail road riding abandon lines, thanks for sharing this, keep it up👍👍👍
I WISH I WAS THERE WITH YOU NICE RIDE FROM AUSTRALIA
love it where to get the wheel's, or who build's them.
don haffner railriders.net
End of the line , okay ,but where this rail line was going anyway ? Didn't see any station or dwellings or farming nearby !
Devendra this is the end of the line today. Originally the line ran further into the big smelter where the ore was deposited and smelted. This was a railroad the hauled tons of copper ore and pure copper.
looks like a Ron's rail rider to me by the wheels. Loved doing this for years starting 30 years ago. Nice to see you are still at it.
That little bit of gravel shouldn't stop the show!!
The track literally ended there
@@klaus9714 More track is seen beyond the gravel road . How far I have no idea . A shovel and hoe should take care of "road maintenance" for the ambitious .
They go to McGill Nevada.
That was awesome yes definitely .
How do you find out what tracks you can ride? I live in Michigan and know several but don't even know if its legal. would be a fun hobby this year all considering.
Great video I'm inspired, thanks.
I have a question, do you need to get permission from the railroad apartment or Bruerow of Land Management?
Department of railroads
You should always ask for permission to ride from the owner of the railroad. I had permission from NNRY to ride here. Any railroad is private property.
How hard is it to pedal?
Ben Moore it’s like a regular bike
Almost like an electric bike because of momentum and not having to stop it just carries you down most of the time
The only problem I see here is that these tracks are not abandoned at 1:46 you can see the silver top of the rail as the sun reflects off of it still pretty cool though
That looks awesome. Where can I get something like that or how much would something like that cost ?
I made mine and bought the wheels from this guy. They are great wheels and have made the money back. Railriders.net.
How old are those tracks
Love the airconditioning.
Thank you for using a Briggs and Stratton motor
Nice.nice nice.........where is it.?
Is it a bumpy ride? - also where did the track carry on to at the end, mineworkings?
The ride is smooth. The end of the line is where I stopped tracks were removed years ago. At one time it led the the mill where the copper ore was dumped and processed.

Super Bravo !!!
Is this legal or illegal in America !? Or is it run by the state, county. I would love to have to do this in Texas.
What is the Bluegrass tune played at the end of this video?
Do you have any info on abandoned tracks?
Who is your passenger?
I would count half the fun designing and building a unique vehicle .
where can you find plans for one of those bikes l like the one with the pedals...could be interesting
Douglas Shrum i would suggest checking out railriders.net.
Where can I buy a railbike like that. How much?
I got my wheels from this guy. He also sells entire kits. Railriders.com
How many miles ? Is tor that a Briggs & Statton, Tecumseha, Honda 3.5 or 5 hp ? Liked 🎶 👍
Mark Stengel it is a Brigss and Stratton 5.5 HP. There is 8 miles one way and another line that is 11miles.
@@Eriks191 Do you build those karts for people? Looks like a fun way to get around.. Lots of high bridges here in Tennessee...
That thing needs a canopy. Too much sunshine for a pleasant ride.

how is the speed?>
Why are they called?
What kind of range do you have, and how far can you normally go on an excursion? How much homework do you do to be sure your ride doesn't end a mile down the track?
Nice car. The only thing I would add is a bigger muffler to quite it down with a spark arrestor.

At 4:43 it will be so cool if those signal lights would activate when you approach it and you put a horn on your machine.
