Chicago Fishing Trifecta! Laker, Brown Trout & Coho Salmon, WGN Radio Interview!

- It was the perfect weather for fishing on 3/22/2023. South winds, 45 degrees with overcast. My main target was to catch some Coho however I exceeded my expectations with a trifecta. I caught a Coho and beautiful brown trout on a Mepps Flying C. I also landed a huge lake trout on a 1/4 oz Pink Rooster Tail. Try you luck all along the lakefront or any of the 10 Chicago harbors.
I was featured on the Chicago Sun-Times for Fish Of the Week. As a result WGN radio saw the article and they reached out to me via email for an interview. I was so nervous because I wasn't aware I was going to be live on the radio show.
Thanks for all the support, likes and comments!
Rod: StCroix Avid AVS76MLXF
Reel: Shimano Vanford 300
Line: Daiwa J-Braid Grand X8 8lb braid
Lure: Mepps Flying C 5/8oz and Rooster Tail 1/4 oz
Nice Lake Trout!
The small net stressed me out.
Trifecta=buy a lotto ticket.
One of your most interesting videos.
Cool, thanks! I forgot my big net that day and only had my racket net. LOL. I was worried I was going to lose that Brownie when that guy tried to help. Thanks
Great catchs man I learned a lot from your videos thanks a lot
This is inspiring! I really like how much care you took to harm the fish as little as possible.
A true sportsman
Thanks for the kind words.
I am new to fishing and love your videos. Your teaching me a lot and I really appreciate you showing where and what to use!
Awesome, thank you!
Gotta appreciate someone not being stingy on what they use and the spots he fishes it’s all about how you take care of the fish and the area shout out Jesus
Thanks for the appreciation! Chicago has 10 harbors and many miles to fish from. Just need to get out and give it a try,
Those from the area will certainly recognize spots, but you’re right…showing the lures, techniques, etc-always good to know and help spread the fun
Nice fish! That's the day I met you and you told me what you caught and now I got to see em! Well done 👍🏼
Glade you watched the video. Thanks. Maybe we'll run into each other again.
Wow! I was just south on northerly island in the afternoon, beautiful day for fishing, finally caught one on my very last cast! excited to get back there
That is awesome!
What makes it funnier, ive been getting skunked since December, first fish ever for me. It was great! Keep up the vids homie!
As always awesome work Primo!!! Going to have to come down and fish for smallies on the River again-
Thanks primo. I wish I could go. I sure miss going.
Wowww!!! Nice catch’s! I was there today was too hard for fishing with that wind
Super cool. Awesome net too. Might make one myself
Go for it!
I netted that laker for you! Another great video, hope to see out on the lake front again soon. Love your content.
Hey. Thanks again for helping. Have you been fishing recently if so any luck?
You are a pro.
Thanks for the compliment.
Great video Nice laker!
Glad you enjoyed it. Thanks!
Very impressive for multi-species, especially in early spring and in Lake Michigan.
Well done Jesus Representing Chicago the best way possible. Amazing stuff
Thanks Geo! Are you going to target Smallmouth anytime soon?
Getting up early tomorrow for the Stocked Trout opener. I’m inspired by your videos! The radio interview at the end was fantastic!!
Ill be there tomorrow. Good luck! Im glad you liked the interview. Thanks
I had no luck today. Saw a few caught but it was slow.
I limited out. I was dead for almost 3 hours. Lost one at the bank. But when I switched to Mouse Tails around 9am I started catching them every 5-10 minutes. I had a mouse tail with PowerBait on a size 14 treble with 4lb flouro leader to swivel. Above the swivel a clear bubble bobber - slip bobber. Main line was braid. Guys we’re coming up to me asking about my setup since I was the only one catching them.
Berkley Mice Tails . I used the Yellow PowerBait ball head with about a 3” orange tail that’s very wiggly. Floats at the surface off the bubble bobber. Trout grab it off the surface.
@@michaelmccormick1016 Awsome!
Good morning, brother

Great catches !!! Love watching your vids man
Thank you very much!

Glad you liked it!
I've been enjoying your videos, thank you! I'm going to try fishing at Montrose myself this weekend. Crazy how huge those fish are
Is there a particular time of day that is best at the moment?
Glad you like them! Cloudy days are good. But any day fishing is a good day. Just need to get out when you can. Good luck.
I think it's time for you to get a bigger net.🤣 great catches!
I totally forgot my big net that day. I only had this net in the car. I thought I could use the small net to land those small Cohos. Didn't expect to land such a big Laker.
Nice good job
Thank you so much 😀
maan, the moment i saw you i got sooo envy, new to fishing, u are an absolute beast my man!! keep it up, what lure did u use? i’m planning to visit the same exact spot next saturday
Bring that net back to the creek and leave it there hoss 🙂 Those ain’t no stream minnows!
I hear you. lol
Great fishes Jesus! Do you know does salmon fishing start this year. It’ll be my first time fishing for salmon so I’m a little clueless. Also any tips of set ups and baits to use? Great videos bro I’m new to your Chanel.
THink you should consider a bigger net, Nice fish
I agree. lol
I like that fishing back pack, it’s sick if you don’t mind me asking, where did you buy that?
What the heck....thats a tennis racket!!
Let’s go Jesus!!!
Thanks!
I have caught bunch of coho in that spot before, but it was in april
Overcast day, good for fishy!
Couldn't agree any more.
see you at axehead tomorrow :)
For sure. Its going to be windy and muddy.
@@Jesus312Fishing yeah 50 mph winds are fun
Nice fish I noticed you hit that one in the head I don't see you keep them often is that dinner
Awesome video! What type and size of leader are using with your braid?
I was using 10lb fluorocarbon leader.
Nice video! do you have any recommendations for rod length for salmon and trout? I have some 7' spinning and baitcasting rods that are medium and medium heavy, would those work?
The rod I have for coho and trout is a 7'6" medium light. I use a 9' medium for king salmon. Your medium rod should work. What lbs line do you have
@@Jesus312Fishing I have 30 pound braid and I can tie on a 15 lb leader. I might have 20 lb leader somewhere though. Would that work? Also what lures work best?
@@lucaponzio3466l 30lb braid is too big for casting light lures. I use 8lb braid for this season. At most probably 10lbs.
Nice catches. How do you like the shimano vanford?
It's holding up pretty good for the first year using it.
@@Jesus312Fishing sweet. I just bought my first one and so far I love it. Look fowrd to your videos man
@@Jesus312Fishing sweet. I just bought my first one and so far I love it. Look fowrd to your videos man
GUYS, what size of fishes can i take them home? any informations? i have no experience
Awesome, is there parking there and how much is it per hour
Not much. $2.50 an hour
How strong is the line ?
What time of the year was this? Looking to plan a kayak trip next spring
This was in March. The water temperature are cold so be safe out there.
@@Jesus312Fishing thank you. I would love a nice calm day like that to be out there in my kayak
Is a 7ft bass rod good to catch these fish?
Your bass rod should work. I'm using a 7'6" medium light spinning rod.
What kind of lures are you using
I show both descriptions in the video.
Where is this? Like what's that building
Hello, What or where harbor?
Is this in Illinois or Indiana?
You probably don't have any idea about such things but the way you handle those fish is not the best way to help them survive being caught. Use barbless hooks, don't by any means net anything you are gonna release, remove the hook with pliers, don't touch the fish. Sticking your hands in the fishes gils almost insures they will get bacteria on them and die a slow death. Just because they swim away doesnt mean anything.
Hi, I had luck snagging salmon past year, but always had trouble with lure catching, do you think we could fish together, so I could learn a little?
We can try. I usually go last minute. Do you live close to the lakefront?
It's too bad the lake is so polluted, that laker would be good eating otherwise.
Qie caña usas
Don’t want to sound like your Dad but, buddy, buddy, buddy, you don’t want the hook in your hand attached to that lively fish in your net. Things get real bad real fast.
Did you have to pay to park there?
