  • One person was arrested after police said two cars appeared to be racing on Sam Rayburn Tollway in Lewisville on Wednesday night. Video from @JuniorWash12 on Twitter.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the crash happened just after 9:30 p.m. Wednesday on the southbound lanes of Sam Rayburn Tollway near Standridge Drive.
DPS said a Ford Mustang and a 2016 Chevrolet Corvette were suspected to be racing in the southbound lanes when the Mustang allegedly rear-ended a 2018 Hyundai Elantra that was not involved in the racing.
The impact from the collision caused the driver of the Mustang to veer into the Corvette's lane, officials said, causing another collision. The driver of the Corvette then veered into the median and rolled over.

Been a car guy all 39 years of my life. Enjoy racing and all things to do with cars. These types of "car guys" ruin it for everyone else. No one has the right to endanger other motorists lives like this. They both showed a complete disregard for anyones safety including their own. I hope the innocent victim was ok and sued the britches off of them.

It was driving and riding on track that taught me not to race on the street. Well, that and the fact that in Texas today if 'racing' and anyone in either car or any innocent bystander is injured or killed it is a felony for *Both* drivers. A former employee is in prison today for this very thing.

@@A2J_Tim Many times as a youngster. As I said, it was only after getting formal training on track that I really understood how to handle a car or bike at speed. Once I started climbing that hill I realized that "the other guy" on the street most likely didn't have any more skill than I did back at 18.
On track I know that other guy has some skill, has had his car checked in tech, and most of all that there are no random civilians wandering onto the track. In this video the Mustang runs squarely into the back of a car going the speed limit in the slow lane of a 4 lane freeway w/o any effective attempt to avoid. The Chevy driver didn't make an obvious move to avoid the trap he was entering. both were low-skill drivers. "The other guy" can wreck you life.

@@Miata822 I agree with what you said about these guys being dumb, they didnt do their pull in a space where their was ample room. Most car guys that I Associate with will do pulls out on the highway, but we pick a dead highway where their is no traffic. My guess is these guys are brand new at owning higher hp cars and dont respect the power.

Found the Story, per Fox 4 KDFW and 5NBCDFW:
The Mustang driver was 27 year old Jordan Brown, was intoxicated and fled on foot after the crash. (He was later apprehended)
The Corvette's driver (43 year old David Ciske) and passenger (30 year old Dustin Smith) were both taken to a hospital, with the passenger in critical condition (it rolled over the median)
The Hyundai driver who was hit sustained minor injuries and was treated and released at the scene

@@mmark300I survived Front end accidents twice, with a neck injury and the second one left me with lower back pain that comes and go. The idiot pulled out onto the main roadway from a Driveway, blocking my lane causing me to come to a screeching stop while plowing into the Left side of his car Front Fender and his car was disabled blocking the road. My insurance company found me at no fault, cause I was on the main road and didn't caused the accident. My 2010 Corolla was totaled, no Airbags was inflated. But I now suffer with lower back pain on and off. When someone gets better after a car accident, there's long-term pain that will stay with them for the rest of their life.
