Well thats great and congratulations! Now it depends, if your wanting to go the upgrade route...Well you see our channel and the GT has got a few upgrades you can do lol. The only thing limiting is the 34-34 headtube. But the Avalanche is a beast, for more money you get a few more things like a tapered headtube and a bigger wheel size. So it's a tough question man. Maybe give it till a week into May????? If you can possibly wait that long 😉 Good Luck and keep watching

Can confirm. Just bought an aggressor pro for $299.00 I rode 39 miles in the woods the first two days of owning it… good shake down haha. I’ve had it for 4 days now and after my ride to my kids baseball game tonight I’ll be over 50 miles on it. I swapped over to a single front chain ring and hollow sealed bottom bracket. Your channel gave me the confidence to buy the bike! Glad I found you! I am a Moto guy and my kid races. He and I have started riding mountain bikes. He and I both love your channel!

So I found your channel after I purchased that same exact bike in the video and have been going off your old videos. Because you just did an absolute great job of taking this bike and upgrading it and documenting how you did it to make it better. I will say about this new GT aggressor pro I took it on some blue trails for 2 hours and there was so much chain slap I broke the hanger off. So I’ll be upgrading a lot on this bike as well. Thanks to you guys I just bought 2 GT Agressor pros 3 weeks ago for 299 and then the other day a Laguna pro barely ridden on Facebook close by me for 200. I now have a small for my wife, medium for my son and large for me. We love them and upgrades will be coming.
I have 3 Aggressors..Great frame to work off of..2 are still stock and one of them has been full upgraded...Also an older 2010 GT Avalanche fully upgraded that is my pride and joy..I put a crap ton of money into it.
I just bought the GT aggressor pro cement or slate grey. I would love to see a 29er setup if possible. You guys are the best, keep up the great work my friends.
It's great to see that you guys got to come full circle on bikes with the GT Aggressor Pro. I think you nailed it on who the bike is for. I have to admit that it LOOKS amazing in red! Now about that Marzocchi fork... OH boy are you gonna like it. I just rode a friends Cannondale Dave that he put on a Bomber DJ fork... damn that thing is almost as nice as my Z2 on my Cannondale Habit 6! (which is now sitting at 150 vs the 130 mm it started out with). Whomever at Marzocchi who decided to make their forks using the K.I.S.S. method deserves a huge pay raise. They are 100% set it and forget it forks that just WORK!

I’m assembling a 2023 Aggressor PRO (large) as I type this for a friend. He has the 2022 Aggressor PRO with Shimano Acera components. Of course the 2023 has micro SHIFT 26 group. ( As long you perfectly follow micro Shift tune up directions, it’s okay, just okay.) I’ve assembled 12 GT boxed bikes (Dicks Sports), every one of them the hubs were way over tightened. Use a torque wrench to set up the hub disk brake bolts, again too tight. They are great bikes at this price. Thanks for the video. I like your tag team format and production. 😊😊
10:09 thread pattern won't protect you against punctures, the protective layer in the tyre will, so if it's a proper tyre it has decent puncture protection, but punctures will still happen if you ride over big piece of glass or a sharp rock. So it's a tubeless setup, and having tyre plugs with you is a good idea, I've not needed plugs yet, but I don't ride on knife sharp rocks.

I have a 2021 GT Aggressor Pro I paid about the same $300. It sat for 2 years in my shed due to life changes. I took it for a ride and I like the bike and will like it even better after it is tuned up and the chain slop is taken out

I can tell you all of GT history. I bought my daughter your same 23 gt. Had to convince Dicks the price. We can take bolt on parts from medium to your small or the aggeser over the years.
Just bought two of these bikes for 299. Funny you said it's for the GenXer with nephews, because it's exactly for me and my nephew. He's now at the age to get him out there on trails(and away from electronics), meanwhile I hadn't been on a bike since highschool. Learning/relearning curve for both. Subscribing for updates.

Man your videos has got more and more interesting especially on the budget hardtail sides. If that GT Aggressor came to my country with the same price, I'm sure going to score one. It's a totally different geometry than the old versions
My daughter got hers for Christmas and said yesterday that it is her favorite bike ever! I had to fix a few things that Dicks goofed up, but this bike is definitely worth every penny.

Would this be a good bike for riding on mostly maintained walking trails? Im looking for a bike to use instead of walking. Also what would you upgrade or is it good out the store for my needs?
When I first got my GT Aggressor Pro last year, I took it on the trails I always ride on. I ran over a thorn and it popped the tire and I was about an hour and a half walk from my house. I changed the tires to Continental Mountain Kings, changed the crank to a 32 tooth IXF with a JGBike Oval chainring, upgraded the rear cassette to a Microshift Advent X, and changed out the headset to a threadless Risk headset, a Wake neck and handlebars with Oakley grips, as I hate the stock ones. I will upgrade the fork to either a RockShox Judy silver or Suntour Epixon soon and just ride it until I feel like going with a different bike. The GT frame is a good design but is getting VERY old at this point.
@@ricsim78 it sucks because it wouldn't take much on GTs part to make this a great competitor to other bikes in 2023. They just have to switch to a tapered head tube, make the head tube a little bit slacker and make the seat post wider. Internal cable routing isn't an issue IMO. I see 2023 Nukeproof frames that still have external cable routing and Nukeproof is a premium brand.
Just got that exact color in a large a couple weeks ago, which is why I found your channel. Already went down due to the open patches on the tire. So... tires, tubes, stem, handlebars, pedals, seat and brakes have already been changed. Next is to find a budget fork I can jump with. Any suggestions for a 200lb guy wanting to jump his new Aggressor Pro?👍👍
depends on what you consider budget. I went with a LUTU fork, which they reviewed, then i upgraded that to a Rockshow Recon RL. I think I paid around $270 for the Recon and it's a great fork.
I love that orange, it looks awesome. One thing I noticed, and I don't know if you mention it later in the video (I'm only 6 mins in) the triangle by the seat post is smaller. I don't know if that is just because it's a size small frame or if that's the same on all the 2023 models, but it is definitely smaller, I can fit three fingers through the triangle on my XL 2021 frame. You guys should definitely try out that SR Suntour fork upgrade program with this, get $100 off an upgraded air fork through that program. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys throw on this, of course it will have the bulletproof IXF crankset though lol. I went ahead and ordered all the stuff to upgrade my Box 4 groupset to an 11-speed Shimano SLX groupset and that gets delivered tomorrow so that should be interesting. I've been working on bikes now for 4 or 5 yrs and I still can't adjust a rear derailleur for the life of me, lol, so I'll be installing the groupset, adjusting it as much as I can then taking it to Wheel & Sprocket and having them finish adjusting it.
I always loved gt. I used to race BMX on a gt interceptor mach 1 back when I was a kid. (I think that was it) maybe powerlite mach 1. Either way I can't wait to see the videos after this as I'm playing catch up.
I just started my MTB journey I purchased this bike, and he only thing I can say I wish was different is the gears and tires. I wish it were a 1x9 or 10, I love the bike, tho. I've upgraded the the pedals to RF and the grips to foam ESI grips.

Quick question, not an expert on bikes and ready to hit again some trails as beginner / Intermediate but my last 2 bike was Fuji 29” Nevada which the last one was stolen on one of my trip but I been looking for a similar bike weight and style but not sure if stick on same brand or this will beat or be similar whit out breaking the bank since today I saw this at $300 again at Dicks ! Great video bought a budget Marin Wildcat last yr . it weighed in at 33 pounds came with 2x8 120 mm fork not sure what the brakes were 27.5 cost to me was $400 wildcat no longer made in 2023 just the brother bike bobcat . what i did replace was the 2x8 with 1x9 micro shift advent pro after 4200 miles on it lock ring for the cassette came loose here were i was impressed micro shift replaced and installed new cassette free to me sorta not working right i hear clicking when i pedal not sure its going to hold up even after adjustment but micro shift has 4 yr warranty they stood behind there product impressed but i see change coming the suntour fork 120 exm has with stood some bike trail like Vasa in michgan Traverse city in fact riding this week for last time brother moving wanted one last few rides in the books . i upgraded the brakes to Shimano Hydraulic Deore i love Shimano here in Feb before cassette problem that i still do not think is over . have ordered new fox fork not needed suntour 120 xm while maybe heavy works fine at my age of 55 i'm not doing whistler . but wildcat is made with Giant liv bikes same assembly lines imagine that hmm seeing there made at the same place kinda make me believe marin bikes are somehow tied together i went insane on upgrades on my budget bike forgot i did add 1x9 with raceface crank laughs everything i added now comes on bobcat standard but not at 400 price tag a bit more i had fun upgrading my budget bike my only regret may be micro shift cassette system it shift heavy some time two gears but now that 1 st cassette failed i'm feeling regret on ordering new fork but i'll ride out this storm fork worth more than upgrades and bike but a budget bike can be fun to play and build on i see gt aggressor in my daughters future
That color is pimpin. I think my GT is a 2020... it's the only year they produced the color for the Aggressor Pro... I actually have it for sale on craigslist and now I know I have to lower the price based on the fact I'm selling it for how much they're selling new ones for now lol
I have the same bike with same colour. Against your advice, I put on a tanke air suspension. I did some jumps today and man the fork held its end of the bargain. The landing was soft but as your review put it, it could use some work on small bumps as it does not have that awesome suspension as more pricey forks out there. It handled the mountain bike trails like its nothing. I really like this bike so much. Its alot of fun with doing jumps and it has enough gears for you to have an easy climb up a hill.
I ordered one last week for $299 and picked it up yesterday. I did ship to the store and they assembled. Now they show the sale price is $399. Raining today but I might be able to take a ride tomorrow. It's a great looking bike. I did purchased the the red and I like the color
I bought An Aggressor and started followin your videos! I got an orange with blue gt logo at the start of covid. I paid 900 Canadian for it at sport check. (It was the only decent bike i could find at the time) :(
actually, you were still partially right .... all brakes are mechanical, unless they're electro-magnetic. It's a "mechanical linkage" instead of hydraulic
I have the same bike in a large. It does the SAME BS shifting while I'm riding. I absolutely hate it. I'm excited to see what they are going to do with it. I will be replicating whatever they do.
just bought this a few weeks ago. i missed the $299 return window! i love it, but it needs immediate upgrades. new pedals, and my head set started creeking after the third ride
I just literary got one.. I mean I just got home from the store. $299 and then I got two $30 discounts, $30 off for downloading the app and $30 off for applying for their CC. $240 for this bike is a good deal
word of advise, go back and return the bike before it's to late. I did mine and this is the worst bike ever made by gt.... My aggressor pro broke apart the minute i took it around the block .. the reviews are horrific...
@@ildefonsovilar i should've read the reviews before buying this bike. But long story short, my chain pop off first test riding around the block. My front derailer would not go to 3rd no matter how much i try. Both my wheels weren't true, the front brakes were rubbing against the rotors. Even after adjusting the brakes, the noise would go away , but once you put weigh on the bike , the noise of brake rubbing would come back. The reviews are bad and alot of complaints are due to derailment failure , bent rims and so on.. but thks to dicks , they gave back my refund due to manufacture defect...That is why i'm curious why everybody on here is glorifying this bike and on dicks website , the reviews are horrendous ....since your return window has expire, might as well invest and upgrade all your parts so the bike wont leave u stranded ...word of advise
If you trail ride and don't want more then 150 mm of travel, the Z2 is all you will ever need. The Z1 is the big hitter. I have one and it's a serious fork for the money but it's intended for big mountain trails and free ride.
I work at dicks and have been building aggressors for a while. I couldn't really believe the price. The fact that the call the orange bike "red" is kinda ridiculous. The black vs silver depends on the bike. Same thing with sidewall logo colors. Each bike has different colors. I believe the BBQ color (matte black and blue) has a silver cassette. It just depends on the color bike.
easy peasy, just gotta make sure you have the right tools. I crank puller and a bottom bracket tool, oh and a breaker bar because those bottom brackets can be a b**** to get out. Then just spend $50 on an IXF crankset and like $15 on a single chainring. I upgraded my BB on my GT Aggressor Pro 3yrs ago and I'm still running the same IXF crankset, those things are bullet-proof.
Damn..I got my son this bike last summer for $429.. but we have made some fun upgrades already. For the 29er wheels that fork will have to go for sure.
Ordered a matte black and blue one from Dick’s yesterday. Size large. Shimano components and Maxxis Ikon tires are going on it first, along with a blue and black gel saddle. Lock on Rock Bros grips and pedals as well
just bought this last week, sadly not for $299 RIP but cant wait to slowly mod is tiers, and then dropper post and shocks, but will be doing a mullet build. these tiers arent too grippy, slips bad on sand and most surfaces.

No bicycle with a "pro" modifier should be sold for ~$300. I'm a big fan of budget bikes, and I LOVE building, tinkering, constantly improving, all that. But "Pro" is mis-guiding. The Agressor is a quality, entry level bike, but should be labeled as a "comp", if even that.

Man your videos has got more and more interesting especially on the budget hardtail sides. If that GT Aggressor came to my country with the same price, I'm sure going to score one. It's a totally different geometry than the old versions

How does this compare to the schwinn auxm dp this bikes $398 at walmart 29"x2.6" w/dropper post what would be the better bike to upgrade forks etc ? Gt red looks clean but i would have to drop some money going single drive and dropper post lmk your professional opinion

Would this be a good bike for riding on mostly maintained walking trails? Im looking for a bike to use instead of walking. Also what would you upgrade or is it good out the store for my needs?
When I first got my GT Aggressor Pro last year, I took it on the trails I always ride on. I ran over a thorn and it popped the tire and I was about an hour and a half walk from my house. I changed the tires to Continental Mountain Kings, changed the crank to a 32 tooth IXF with a JGBike Oval chainring, upgraded the rear cassette to a Microshift Advent X, and changed out the headset to a threadless Risk headset, a Wake neck and handlebars with Oakley grips, as I hate the stock ones. I will upgrade the fork to either a RockShox Judy silver or Suntour Epixon soon and just ride it until I feel like going with a different bike. The GT frame is a good design but is getting VERY old at this point.
@@ricsim78 it sucks because it wouldn't take much on GTs part to make this a great competitor to other bikes in 2023. They just have to switch to a tapered head tube, make the head tube a little bit slacker and make the seat post wider. Internal cable routing isn't an issue IMO. I see 2023 Nukeproof frames that still have external cable routing and Nukeproof is a premium brand.
Just got that exact color in a large a couple weeks ago, which is why I found your channel. Already went down due to the open patches on the tire. So... tires, tubes, stem, handlebars, pedals, seat and brakes have already been changed. Next is to find a budget fork I can jump with. Any suggestions for a 200lb guy wanting to jump his new Aggressor Pro?👍👍
depends on what you consider budget. I went with a LUTU fork, which they reviewed, then i upgraded that to a Rockshow Recon RL. I think I paid around $270 for the Recon and it's a great fork.
I love that orange, it looks awesome. One thing I noticed, and I don't know if you mention it later in the video (I'm only 6 mins in) the triangle by the seat post is smaller. I don't know if that is just because it's a size small frame or if that's the same on all the 2023 models, but it is definitely smaller, I can fit three fingers through the triangle on my XL 2021 frame. You guys should definitely try out that SR Suntour fork upgrade program with this, get $100 off an upgraded air fork through that program. I'm really looking forward to seeing what you guys throw on this, of course it will have the bulletproof IXF crankset though lol.
I went ahead and ordered all the stuff to upgrade my Box 4 groupset to an 11-speed Shimano SLX groupset and that gets delivered tomorrow so that should be interesting. I've been working on bikes now for 4 or 5 yrs and I still can't adjust a rear derailleur for the life of me, lol, so I'll be installing the groupset, adjusting it as much as I can then taking it to Wheel & Sprocket and having them finish adjusting it.
I always loved gt. I used to race BMX on a gt interceptor mach 1 back when I was a kid. (I think that was it) maybe powerlite mach 1. Either way I can't wait to see the videos after this as I'm playing catch up.
I just started my MTB journey I purchased this bike, and he only thing I can say I wish was different is the gears and tires. I wish it were a 1x9 or 10, I love the bike, tho. I've upgraded the the pedals to RF and the grips to foam ESI grips.

Quick question, not an expert on bikes and ready to hit again some trails as beginner / Intermediate but my last 2 bike was Fuji 29” Nevada which the last one was stolen on one of my trip but I been looking for a similar bike weight and style but not sure if stick on same brand or this will beat or be similar whit out breaking the bank since today I saw this at $300 again at Dicks ! Great video bought a budget Marin Wildcat last yr . it weighed in at 33 pounds came with 2x8 120 mm fork not sure what the brakes were 27.5 cost to me was $400 wildcat no longer made in 2023 just the brother bike bobcat . what i did replace was the 2x8 with 1x9 micro shift advent pro after 4200 miles on it lock ring for the cassette came loose here were i was impressed micro shift replaced and installed new cassette free to me sorta not working right i hear clicking when i pedal not sure its going to hold up even after adjustment but micro shift has 4 yr warranty they stood behind there product impressed but i see change coming the suntour fork 120 exm has with stood some bike trail like Vasa in michgan Traverse city in fact riding this week for last time brother moving wanted one last few rides in the books . i upgraded the brakes to Shimano Hydraulic Deore i love Shimano here in Feb before cassette problem that i still do not think is over . have ordered new fox fork not needed suntour 120 xm while maybe heavy works fine at my age of 55 i'm not doing whistler . but wildcat is made with Giant liv bikes same assembly lines imagine that hmm seeing there made at the same place kinda make me believe marin bikes are somehow tied together i went insane on upgrades on my budget bike forgot i did add 1x9 with raceface crank laughs everything i added now comes on bobcat standard but not at 400 price tag a bit more i had fun upgrading my budget bike my only regret may be micro shift cassette system it shift heavy some time two gears but now that 1 st cassette failed i'm feeling regret on ordering new fork but i'll ride out this storm fork worth more than upgrades and bike but a budget bike can be fun to play and build on i see gt aggressor in my daughters future
That color is pimpin. I think my GT is a 2020... it's the only year they produced the color for the Aggressor Pro... I actually have it for sale on craigslist and now I know I have to lower the price based on the fact I'm selling it for how much they're selling new ones for now lol

I have the same bike with same colour. Against your advice, I put on a tanke air suspension. I did some jumps today and man the fork held its end of the bargain. The landing was soft but as your review put it, it could use some work on small bumps as it does not have that awesome suspension as more pricey forks out there. It handled the mountain bike trails like its nothing. I really like this bike so much. Its alot of fun with doing jumps and it has enough gears for you to have an easy climb up a hill.
I ordered one last week for $299 and picked it up yesterday. I did ship to the store and they assembled. Now they show the sale price is $399. Raining today but I might be able to take a ride tomorrow. It's a great looking bike. I did purchased the the red and I like the color

actually, you were still partially right .... all brakes are mechanical, unless they're electro-magnetic. It's a "mechanical linkage" instead of hydraulic

I have the same bike in a large. It does the SAME BS shifting while I'm riding. I absolutely hate it. I'm excited to see what they are going to do with it. I will be replicating whatever they do.

word of advise, go back and return the bike before it's to late. I did mine and this is the worst bike ever made by gt.... My aggressor pro broke apart the minute i took it around the block .. the reviews are horrific...

i should've read the reviews before buying this bike. But long story short, my chain pop off first test riding around the block. My front derailer would not go to 3rd no matter how much i try. Both my wheels weren't true, the front brakes were rubbing against the rotors. Even after adjusting the brakes, the noise would go away , but once you put weigh on the bike , the noise of brake rubbing would come back. The reviews are bad and alot of complaints are due to derailment failure , bent rims and so on.. but thks to dicks , they gave back my refund due to manufacture defect...That is why i'm curious why everybody on here is glorifying this bike and on dicks website , the reviews are horrendous ....since your return window has expire, might as well invest and upgrade all your parts so the bike wont leave u stranded ...word of advise

If you trail ride and don't want more then 150 mm of travel, the Z2 is all you will ever need. The Z1 is the big hitter. I have one and it's a serious fork for the money but it's intended for big mountain trails and free ride.
what do you make of some of the Dick's reviews having components break in first couple of months?
I work at dicks and have been building aggressors for a while. I couldn't really believe the price. The fact that the call the orange bike "red" is kinda ridiculous. The black vs silver depends on the bike. Same thing with sidewall logo colors. Each bike has different colors. I believe the BBQ color (matte black and blue) has a silver cassette. It just depends on the color bike.

Really considering buying one for my wife and one for me. How hard would it be to change the drive train to a 1x instead of a 3x?
easy peasy, just gotta make sure you have the right tools. I crank puller and a bottom bracket tool, oh and a breaker bar because those bottom brackets can be a b**** to get out. Then just spend $50 on an IXF crankset and like $15 on a single chainring. I upgraded my BB on my GT Aggressor Pro 3yrs ago and I'm still running the same IXF crankset, those things are bullet-proof.
Damn..I got my son this bike last summer for $429.. but we have made some fun upgrades already. For the 29er wheels that fork will have to go for sure.
You should do the suntour upgrade program and get the raidon xc. I'd love to see your impressions of that fork.

Ordered a matte black and blue one from Dick’s yesterday. Size large. Shimano components and Maxxis Ikon tires are going on it first, along with a blue and black gel saddle. Lock on Rock Bros grips and pedals as well

just bought this last week, sadly not for $299 RIP but cant wait to slowly mod is tiers, and then dropper post and shocks, but will be doing a mullet build. these tiers arent too grippy, slips bad on sand and most surfaces.

Crazy thing is my carbon FS Emtb is only 43 lbs (with ANVL pedals and tubeless). Granted it cost more but is loads more fun with thousands of miles!
No bicycle with a "pro" modifier should be sold for ~$300.
I'm a big fan of budget bikes, and I LOVE building, tinkering, constantly improving, all that.
But "Pro" is mis-guiding. The Agressor is a quality, entry level bike, but should be labeled as a "comp", if even that.
The agrgessor was originally was a bmx bak bsck in the day. Its kind of a rare gt bmx these days.
