If there’s a rock ‘n roll heaven, Bobby Hatfield is the lead singer in that band. We miss your silken voice
To listen to him sing Unchained Melody is to listen in awe. Both of these guys were terrific people too.
How about Elvis?
Прекраснейшие исполнители, так дополняют друг друга, просто тандем уникальных голосов!
Not long after this reunion, they reunited again and remained together until Bobby's untimely death. I got to see them live a couple of times in the mid-90s when I was living in Vegas and they had become Vegas regulars. They performed a live version of Rock & Roll Heaven that updated the song even further with more of the stars that had passed away since the first two versions had been released. It was a very moving tribute. Sadly, Bobby joined those ranks just a few years later.
Thanks for that info, had no idea… I’m so glad they got back together 🙏🏼
20 years on the 5/11 of missing Bobby.
Bobby Hatfield, leading the heavenly choir.
Yes absolutely, he is leading it !! We are/have been blessed to have him/his 🎶 for so many years. He absolutely nails unchained melody; ebb tide, such a range. There is no one
that could range; a counter tenor. He is dearly missed.
Bobby sure has bless his heart . He was one of the best singer I've ever heard,
If I had to choose just one singer to listen to for the rest of my life, it would have to be Bobby, his voice, phrasing and delivery is just beautiful.
Dick Clark has his American Bandstand up in heaven with many great singers.
My heart broke when Bobby died.
Yes, Bobby Hatfield has now joined the Band in Rock N Roll Heaven, and many others too. There must be some great Music going on up there.
Awesome music Fabulous performances
The jam sessions in heaven must be amazing to listen to
How also me to remember other singers
Righteous Brothers, greatest duo of all time!
Don't forget the three Gibb brothers,Maurice, Robin and Andy their in rock and roll Heaven with the other immortals of rock and roll music.
Not in 1981. Dick should have gotten Climax. They did this first.
@@jamesmichalek5406 That's like saying Ed Sullivan should have played Arthur Crudup's version of 'That's All Right' instead of Elvis' version.
@@kennethcurtis1856 And why should he not have?
Magnanimous performance by magnanimous performers...love you Righteous Brothers❤❤❤
Love Bill too, together they were the best but so undervalued.
This song makes me feel a little sad as Bobby has joined the Rock n roll heaven.
#1 Bobby Hatfield forever in my heart ❤.
Little Richard and others has joined that rock ‘n’ roll heaven along with the ones we lost. People like Chuck Berry, George Harrison, Tom Petty, and many others that I can’t name. May each and everyone of them rest in heavenly peace. And I can’t forget Roy Orbison who died in 1988.
I'm really impressed on how they chose to dress - jackets cut the same, same colored pants, white shirts, and so they look like they belong together without being identically dressed.
Thank you God, I see the names of all the wonderful voices thro out my 76 yrs. So
many all have brought me joy 🥲 to hear.
Life would be ugly without music, we give thanks 🙏
RIP all the music stars that died in the last year we will miss your greatness forever!!!!!!!!!!!! Music gets us through the good and bad times thanks for the sacrifice for every one in music!!!!!
Absolutely love this song that can be rewritten into many versions. Too bad Bobby won't be making that harmony
Aretha Franklin!! Queen of Soul!!! Miss all the past 60years!!! At least we have their pictures and there voices!!! Hope we meet some day in heaven!!!!
Wonderful tribute to the rock and roll immortals.
Whitney Houston, Michael Jackson, George Harrison, Davy Jones and many, many more. We have their talents still with us when we turn on our radios.
Cassie Copeland Otis redding, Roy orbison, Chuck berry, Keith moon, John bonham, lemmy, Stevie Ray Vaughn! that's just a start.
@@timijee3582 John Denver
BOWIE & PRINCE 😞
The righteous brothers are just great!
That's Righteous, Brother!
I have the original 45 of this
Love from Canada. RIP Bobby
🇨🇦🙏🌟🌈🦋
By Climax?
@@jamesmichalek5406 No The Righteous Brothers. I paid $1.25/Canadian for it when it first came out. ✌🇨🇦
God!!..I've never been able to experience this performance just once!!!!
They HAD to do a slowed down version because between 1974-1981 they lost way too many idols to count and it really shook Medley and Hatfield to the core. They especially took it hard when Elvis and Lennon died. Lenny Stack arranged the song with the orchestra.
Feels more like an in memoriam sort of thing.
Bill Medley was a close friend of Elvis.
They were definitely Righteous
Bobby RIP
Rock 'n' roll heaven was originally recorded by Sonny Geraci and the band Climax. Sonny and Climax also did the song Precious and Few. Sonny was the lead singer for the group the Outsiders and they did Time won't let me. When the Righteous Brothers got back together this is the first song they released.
A '92 version included Marvin Gave, Cass Elliott, Dennis Wilson, Rick Nelson, Jackie Wilson, Sam Cooke and Stevie Ray Vaughn,
I’m impressed by the Righteous Brother.
WHAT A GREAT SONG, IT MAKES THE HAIR ON THE BACK OF MY NECK STAND UP TO HIS DAY. I LOVE THIS VERSION!
This is such a Wonderful Video. I LOVE these guys and I MISS BOBBY, EVERY SINGLE DAY.
I am SO Thankful that I had the pleasure of seeing them in CONCERT SO MANY TIMES.
These guys have the GREATEST Blend EVER.
1974, when this was a hit, seems like only yesterday. I'd love to be a 19 yr old kid back in the Marine Corps. Great time to be a teenager and young adult.
The USMC also go to Semper Fi Heaven!
@@Cjnw thank you
@@usmc-veteran73-77 You're welcome!
@@Cjnw I became a Christian while I was in the Marine Corps on 18 January 1975, on Okinawa. The North Vietnamese broke the Peace Treaty of 1973 and invaded South Vietnam. Since Marines were on Okinawa we were the closest to South Vietnam, we would be used. I was scared to death. As you know the United States Marine Corps Evacuated Saigon the end of April 1975, total chaos and confusion. So that's how I become a Christian. I still Love Jesus at 65 yrs old. Semper Fidelis
@@usmc-veteran73-77 I am not a Marine myself, but thanks for your service. Happy Easter, too.
Life would be absolutely unbearable without music and these rock legends- especially those who have passed.
So many have passed. One hell of a band. Along with my son joined he grandfather who played. Miss you my child Michael Daversa.. R.I. P.. ❤ Love Dad ..
That band keeps getting bigger every year
Wow, never saw this before. I prefer the original version more, but wonderful to see Bill and Bobby together in this clip. Thank you for posting this! I really enjoyed watching it.
Two of the best.
So So So Many have joined that band since they sang this song in 1981 here
Bobby has gone to the rockand roll heaven.
This classic should be updated yet again to include David Bowie, Prince, Freddie Mercury, George Michael, George Harrison, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Tom Petty, Helen Reddy, Irene Cara, Olivia Newton-John, John Denver, Meat Loaf, Jim Seals, Andy Gibb, both Everly Brothers, and possibly Maurice and Robin Gibb, as well as Sonny Bono. And now, Tina Turner and Jerry Lee Lewis, too.
Commenting cause I’m healing and still sad, and love this song!
My great buddy, Mike Sommerville, lead guitarist and lyricist of the band Head East, went to rock n roll heaven from rapid onset lung cancer last year.
Mike penned words and guitar parts for “ love me tonight” and “ there’s never been any reason” to name a few.
Mike was such a humble, kind, gentle musician and human and truthfully, I’m still upset with God over taking him!!!
I’m 53, Mike was 67 and live in the Northwoods of Wisconsin.
The album “ flat as a pancake” was the soundtrack of my youth and living w/ in 5 miles of your guitar God was amazing!
I can only pray he’s up there showing Stevie Ray , Jimmy, Glen Campbell and Roy Clark a few licks, he was that good!
Love and miss you Mike, love and miss you all.
"Never Been Any Reason", among the genre's GREATEST reveries - LIVE version ESPECIALLY.....
@@ogam5 agreed
Sure miss you Son.........27 today....I'm betting you're in good company...rock on
I believe there's going to be a Rock 'n Roll and I certainly believe in forever..!! :))
Just a lovely inspiring performance. Not much more to say. I wish I had been there that night.
My dad famous 🎸 legend, is now in talking with King David... biblical musician legend
RIP Bobby Hatfield.
Another named to the rock n roll heaven David Bowie.
+Debbie Hamilton Glenn Frye to
+Debbie Hamilton And Prince
Chuck Berry is now part of rock n roll heaven
Ryan Digricoli So do you reckon that Bowie and Kurt Cobain are doing a duet of The Man Who Sold the World in Rock n Roll Heaven right now?
Let's not forget BB King
Don Everley and Charlie Watts has now joined that great gig in the sky.
This song is a great tribute to all the great artists who died too young.
Now that's 50 years late there would be a lot more verses to cover everyone who's gone on since this was taped.
Top shelf stuff. 😅
You got that RIGHT I would like to sit in on that concert
Elvis was gorgeous in the first picture, but he was gorgeous, period! Beautiful song!
So many artists who have appeared on These Specials are no longer with us. James Brown, Teddy Pendergrass, Carl & Dennis Wilson (The Beach Boys), June Pointer, Chuck Berry, and of Course Michael Jackson, Maurice White (Earth Wind & Fire).
Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister
Elvis a the top! Bill Medley loved him…listen to his tribute song to Elvis!
Can't make it up! Wasn't even curb side! Ringing in the new. With anew national anthem, Till the ball drop's. Duet & Singing TOO ALL! Bless all family's, friend's, and Rock n roll heaven! You know... they got a hell of a band!!!!! oxox
You just can't say enough about this song.
RIP Don Everley you're up there now with the very best.
I am singing this RIGHT NOW!!
And, tragically, one of the Righteous Brothers, Bobby Hatfield, has also gone there.
A great song!
This song was originally recorded by Sonny Geraci and Climax. Sonny was also the lead singer of the outsiders who did "Time won't let me."
Rock n roll is really good because I imagine that it is a genre and it is loved.
Sadly- the band is enormous! They have to be somewhere, on another plane.
If you believe in forever
Then life is just a one night stand
And if there's a rock and roll heaven
You know they got one hell of a band
:)
Awesome!
I loved them....
I've spent the last 5-7 years"trying" to pin point 'when' I 1st Discovered Hendrix.Just remembered The Performance(song)although I originally thought it aired on the AMA's in 1982.I had recently turned 11,we were living in E.Hollywood(could see the sign fr my bedrm window).
Miss them so much 😢♥️
Love the tribute to Elvis - the King
素敵なブラザース❤
Love this this ❤
Thank you.
Music is an art form. It is not cooking by a recipe.
Only one way to heaven Jesus is the doorway! John 3:16. John 3:3 Hope they received their LORD before it was too late! No rock'n roll heaven people!
They should have recorded this version, only extended it to include (Buddy. Holly)
(Big Bopper) (Ritchie. Valens) & (Eddy. Cochran) (Mama. Cass)
(Brian. Jones).
Rock and Roll Heaven can only be had in Jesus.
Great song
Superb Thank You
darn it !! why can't music now just have a bit spice like this harmonious and melodic piece of art and inspiration..and not that mongrel goon crappy music now!!!!!! well composed and performed
Now Tom Petty has join Rock and Roll Heaven
Just heard about Aretha Franklin's passing today 8/16/2018 . RIP Queen of soul .
And so has Ric O'Casek.
Yes and so has Billy Preston, Maurice White Of Earth Wind Fire, Dennis Wilson & Carl Wilson of The Beach Boys. Brian Wilson of The Beach Boys almost became part of that Rock & Roll Heaven were it not for being helped by Dr. Eugene Landy. Can you imagine if they did it today who they would pay homage to. Lisa Left Eye Lopes, Aliyah, Tupac Shakur, Biggie Smalls, Selena. They were so young when they died.
Someone else now want's too sing now. 1 more time.
1:59/4:09 Elvis sang and he shook the World. And young girls SCREAMED out his NAME! We crown the King, cause we "loved" him most of all. Now we know the King Is G-o-n-e, but he feelings, still the same, cause we know he's singin' , some where, where the curtain never c-l-o-s-e!
UPDATED by Alan O'Day with his words about Elvis: With Elvis in the house, again. The crowd is going "W-I-L-D" ! [6-11-11] WIFanCrystal
THE BEEEEESSSTTTTTTT
Face it. Our elder rock idols are dropping like flies. Very sad.
Rock on
Chuck Berry...... RIP
The studio version is the best . This version seems like it's in slow motion .
Fats Domino. Clyde McPhatter, Bo Diddley. Ricky Nelson
there could be a huge band up there separated by decades. 50's band, 60's band, 70 band and so on
I love them
The year has been terrible. RIP Glenn Frey, David Bowie, Lemmy, Otis Clay, Natalie Cole, Dale Griffin,. Craig Strickland, Blowfly, Gary Loizo, John Berry, Brett Smiley, Red Simpson, Troy Shondell, Robert Stigwood, Dal Richards, Jason Mackenroth. Not to mention all those actors we all knew and loved.
+Silver Eagle: Gary Loizzo of the American Breed, as WELL ;(
+Silver Eagle RIP Sweet Prince
You know what's so heartbreaking, these artists represent the first generation to die of Drug Addiction, then Elvis, Michael Jackson and Prince all die of Prescription Addiction. In The Beatles Anthology Ringo Starr talked about how for some of them Stardom was just too much and It was.
Silver Eagle and now Leonard cohen 😔
Silver Eagle j
Cannot forget Chris Cornell!
I like the bobby of the 60s
Well Done Bravo!
Can Hell's Bells be heard in Rock N Roll Heaven?
Muito obrigada.
Bobby Hatfield, could now be in this song,_ but who'll sing it?
Absolutely impossible for anyone to copy that soaring falsetto.
jo fa
No one. There can never be another with that voice. He is the lead singer in that heavenly rock and roll band, I can guarantee you that!
@@TrueAveril true counter tenor head voice, not really falsetto.
@@rubydazzler Thank you.
Amy Whitehouse Carl and Dennis Wilson from the Beach Boys Roy Orbison Freddie Murcery George Harrison Del Shannon Kurt Kubane Rick Parkfitt George Michael Michael Jackson John Entwistle from the Who Arthrea Franklin to name but a few are all up there now.
Rob Grill from The Grass Roots
I read that Bobby was scouted by several Major League Baseball teams. I would have liked to see him play.
Don't know about several, but definitely the Dodgers. There are a few still photos of him floating around of him in uniform from high school and other teams later on. Haven't seen any game footage though -- that would be cool.
Bobby had the best voice in the world and he was a phenomenal
performer. Together they were good. This particular show on bandstand is not good and I don’t think that the producers produced it well at all. I’m surprised that between bandstand and a special the production was so bad. I think the following year they went back together for good
