2014 SCINTILLATOR GRASSTRACK

The Maidstone Aces MCC club run their long standing Scintillator meeting, on a small and tricky track, where conditions played a big part, but there was still some good racing, as riders in all classes gave it their all. James Shanes is the rising star in the 500cc Solo's, and could Charlie Powell, Gareth Hickmott, or Scott Cresswell do anything to stop this very quick youngster?
Mark Cossar/Carl Blyth are now the dominant force in the 1000cc RH Sidecar class, but plenty of tough opposition here, with local favourites Rob Wilson/Terry Saunters their main opposition, but with Robbie Wilson/Bradley Steer, Myles Simmons/Kevin Woodley, and The Goudge brothers all the way up from Cornwall, Coassar/Blyth would have their work cut out to take the win.
In the 350cc Solo's another local star Matt Etherington faces stiff competition in youngster Georgie Wood, Bob Dolman, Barry Powell, and Michael Peters.
The LH Sidecars were full of top crews including Tony Penfold/Matt O'hanland , British Champions Will Penfold/Ricky Pay, Charlie Ridley/Harry McQuirk, Welsh crew of Erwin & Alex Balman, Andy Pack/Michael Chittenden. There was some superb racing in this class, all through the day, ending with a dramatic final.
The Upright Solo's had some terrific races, and former speedway star Wayne Barrett really put all his experience into play, and Graeme Brown, Chris Mackett, local man Robin Pilcher could do very little to contain him. A tough meeting to compete in, but these riders are nothing but tough.
