I am norwegian and I have to say, every time the Swede talks norewgian it is just flawless! It souds a bit "old timer" like if my grandfather speaks norwegian, witch is fitting. I wondered if he was norwegian or american. Great actor, great work! And the accent is just like an old norwegian man speaking english!
I guess there are regional differences because my ex-girlfriend from an island near Stavanger doesn't have the same accent as this guy in the show. Either that, or my ex is intentionally hiding the Norway in her speech.

In the case of this character, I could not tell you if he was Finnish, Norwegian or Swedish, but since I am not as familiar with other accents as say British, American & Canadian, it does not affect my enjoyment of the character that he creates - I can't wait for his scenes, they leave me wanting more! Give this guy an award already!
Christopher is one of my favourite actors. He’s great. I love how he talks. Firstly knew him as Sam in Van Helsing, both his characters in The Sanctuary. Alister in Supernatural, and Marcus in Twilight. Hell on Wheels is on my to watch list.

Christopher heyerdahl is best actor in hell on wheels, I did believe that he was devil in this serie, I never watched before him in movies and series but he played in Van helsing, I want to watch Van helsing for Christopher 👍👍
i actually thought he was scandinavian because he plays a scandinavian vampire in true blood aswel!! he has a scandinavian surname, so that might explain his impeccable accent in Hell on Wheels!
Exactly. Everytime I watched an episode it was in the hopes of getting to see The Swede. The otheer cast members are great but Chris as The Swede is amazing.

I think that Samuel Roukin who played John Graves Simcoe in "TURN: Washington's Spies" could of played this role well also. & vice versa with Christopher Heyerdahl playing Simcoe.
