    If you don't agree you can..... Pack Sand.....

    • @Fred_Gilbert
      @Fred_Gilbert 5 років тому +1

      That sounds a little harsh if it's packing fudge but with sand subbed in. OUCH! I think I'd reserve that for the A-hole who has Weller on the shelf for $300...nah, charging double for a pick is pretty bad, screw those guys lol. I actually like "pack sand" a lot more than "pound sand", it's much more clear what the hell it means.

      The only thing I don't agree on is the Elijah Craig A118. It's actually my favorite bourbon and would tickle balls to get my hands on another bottle. I've also never had 1920 or Antique 107 so cant speak to those. Until I do, I'll go pack sand. Nice and compact.

    Great 5 or 6 choices! I would mention if you are on a budget and/or can't find the BT or OWA 107, you can consider EW BiB white label @ $15 and Larceny @ $20 and work your way up to the over $50 bottles.

      I never gave a shit about bourbon until about a year ago, but like a lot of people, Buffalo Trace brought me to the dance. Old Forester 1920, however, is my new leader in the clubhouse. I was excited to snag a bottle of Angel's Envy recently and didn't really like it all that much. Hoping it grows on me.

  • @TheBourbonWrench

    BT is the bourbon that got me fully hooked into bourbon. Had it neat and a light went off in my head. Been a snowball affect ever since lol EDIT: made this comment as soon as I saw BT, will also attest that Rare Breed has got to be in my top 3 favorite obtainable pours of all time. ECBP is also in my top 3 favorite obtainable pours. I personally would add in a Knob Creek single barrel pick, that would round off my top 3 favorite pours. Love Weller 107, just think all the hype and ridiculous markups and secondary market flippers piss me off. The Weller and Elmer and whatever are fully worth their retail price, not even close to their secondary.

    Six months ago, I didn't know what a Buffalo Trace was (I drank, mainly, Makers Mark). Now, it is one of my favorite daily drinker/warm-up bourbons. It is really good for what it is. I tried the OF 1920 based on recommends from many of these channels, and I love it. It really falls into my sweet spot proof-wise. Also found the Russell's Reserve and love it. Would love to find Weller 107, but, in the meantime, I will buy the ECBP. Love the B519.

      Saw a review of bourbons in Esquire Magazine a few years back and they compared Evan Williams to whiskeys costing north of $50 across the board. Best value among those reviewed... and it wasn't even the Single Barrel - it was the regular Black Label Evan Williams. Yeah, baby! Yeah!

    Ok, so if you live in Michigan, and are not afraid to cross the border, just buy 8 bottles of Weller 107 at $30 CAD (what is that, like $50 real dollars?) and live off of the supply for the next 4 years. That is what I did this spring. I also have a store down the street that I have been able to buy ECBP from A117 to B519 for the last couple of years at $59.99 so I have been lucky so far. That being said, last week my mother in law had a Michigan Mule with Bourbon and Ginger ale on a trip, but could not find Buffalo Trace for less than $80 in AZ. I sent her home with 2 bottles at $26.99 and let's just say I scored some major points. 😃 Maybe you don't care, but I just thought I would share. Tomorrow, I travel through Kentucky down to Florida, buying whisky all the way down.... Anyway, if I see Weller 107 as I travel through Ohio, I will think of you... and continue to stock up... thanks for the heads up!

    Nice picks guys, Russell's is definitely a staple of my bar. As for the Owa 107 and the Elmer t Lee, when I bought mine a couple of months ago I only paid 18 and 28 dollars. Will be passing through the same area tomorrow going to see if they have any more

    You guys forgot Beam! If Buffalo Trace is in there I'd say Old Grand Dad 114 should be too. Then of course there's the Knob Single Barrels...Just realized Dan is wearing a Pikesville shirt SMH. Sneaking in an extra pick huh? I'll sneak in one more too then, Walking Stick. I haven't had it in a while but I remember thinking it was a damn good $25 single barrel.
    Huh, I just realized I only have the bottles that Sean picked. Dan's are all on my list but I keep passing them up for various reasons. That C918 is still collecting dust at a store here, I just didn't like EJ small batch that much.

  • @willbowens224
    @willbowens224 4 роки тому

    For the reason you gave, easy entry, I see why you recommend Buffalo Trace. That being said, I think it is TOO pedestrian. I would sub in a finished bourbon like Rabbit Hole Daerenger or Angel's Envy.
