Volvo V70 D5 Washer Pump Replacement / Front Bumper Removal

- In this video I end up replacing the washer pump on my 2003 Volvo V70 D5.
Firstly I removed the front bumper of the vehicle then the headlamp wiper arms and the washer tank was visible, the washer pump wiggled out and I then flushed tank and removed a peculiar looking back gunge like obstruction. Then I had the pleasure of refitting the front bumper etc.Waiting for a replacement washer pump to arrive via courier then repeat the aforementioned process. The seized T25 torx screw didn't present too much of a problem I just tapped the bumper and slid the bumper round the fixing, refitting the bumper wasn't too difficult either.

Thanks for posting this video. I managed to replace my pump as a consequence of it. Would not have been comfortable removing the front of the vehicle without seeing how it was done 👍
Glad it helped.
Thanks for this very helpful no bull**** video, which allowed me to replace my pump with confidence!
Your most welcome, I am glad you found the video useful.
I have to do this for my wife's '09 S60, haven't need to yet on my '07 V70R yet. Thanks.
very useful but priming was a headache - might be worth adding something about that. Had me confused when no water appeared!
Priming does take a while, it can be an unwanted test of faith at the end of any repair to the washer system! Thanks for mentioning it in the comments.
I did this job on my V70. all I had to do was remove the wheel well screw rivets.
That’s useful to know, thanks.
The fix can be done wiyhout removing bumper im sure, just remove wheel and mudgaurd and up on jack?
I needed to look at everything so bumper removal gave me the required overview. I’m personally doubtful the motor can be replaced and the filter cleaned and the screen wash tank flushed without removing the front bumper to gain good access.
Sorry but one other question. Did you replace your FoMoCo (Ford Motor Company) 1S71 17624 FD T655C with a like for like replacement? If so, where did you buy it from? I need to buy a replacement Im sure. Thanks
This is the one I purchased:- www.ebay.co.uk/itm/153589834231?mkcid=16&mkevt=1&mkrid=711-127632-2357-0&ssspo=WapsIZ-PRYy&sssrc=2349624&ssuid=oty_lzDvQq2&var=&widget_ver=artemis&media=COPY
Would it be possible to have replaced the washer pump without removing the bumper?
Access was difficult working underneath hence the bumper removed.
I feared as much. Thanks
Can the pump possibky be replaced from working underneath the car ?
I have never tried but I had a look and it doesn’t look that easy to me.
@@TheRepairer . Ok, cheers for the quick reply. MOT is due shortly & I'm panicing slightly, I'll have a try tomorrow & see if its possible otherwise i'll have to do what you did. Regards from Dave B
@catbreath007 I also repaired the pump shortly ahead of an MOT test!
