When i come across a chip like this that I need for a repair, and they are not expensive, I always order two or more on the basis that if i found a faulty one I will probably see the same type of chip fail again on another device in the future. That way I gradually increase my stock of spare parts. The charge for the repair will more than cover the extra cost.

I don't know whether to laugh, cry, or learn... totally the funniest imac repair and diagnosis i have seen.
I was given an imac 24, 2007/8 without a hard drive, and having no imac experience or even pc/laptop repairing experience other than a long forgotten pc repair and maintenance course from ages ago, I still have got to the stage of removing the psu. I have no electronics experience but do have exactly the same minimum ebay £50 odd psu.

I think you go pro over heat and freeze to cool down check some components that is near to damage

its around £50 on ebay .... but its not about that, its about my ego, i dont replace boards, i fix boards :) And i get always stuck when its about the ic's

When working with high voltage I'd recommend using isolation tranformer:
