    The life of a Tech summed up in one video. Fix one fault, find another, run out of space on bench, have a healthy fear of being zapped and smiling, lots of smiling. Really enjoyed this video, thank you for sharing.

    Glad I stumble across this. It's so satisfying to see you solder so smoothly and how the melted solders go straight to where they need to be soldered on.
    Didn't know that the gel you often put helps make you apply the solder smoothly, as if it's easy. I remember when I try to fix my own headphone, I burnt the board of it because the solder won't go where it's needed to be. It keeps dripping off the small copper wire.

    • @axkeosnakeo6464

      That Gel is flux and
      Flux is our friend !!

    • @anthonydenn4345
      @anthonydenn4345 2 роки тому +3

      It kept dripping because there is a coating on the copper wire used with headphones. You need to remove that first, with a naked flame or scrape it off. Then it will take the solder. Flux will also help with the solder taking more easily.

    A friend of mine also had the same model and size iMac. His hybrid drive also died, and he attempted to put in a new drive, and his screen wouldn't turn anymore. After 2 years, I asked him if I could buy it from him, as he had already bought a 2019 iMac. I bought it for $ 75, but he paid for the shipment, so it was even less than that. I suspected that the lvds cable connecter had been bent or broken when he took the screen off, so I ordered a new lvds cable, as well as a 1 TB SSD, put them in, and voila, I have a very cheap 2012 iMac that works wonderfully. I took a chance, but it worked out.

    i have been working at a pretty sizable refurbished laptop shop for a little over 7 months now, we also do mail in/walk in repairs and at some point a customer came in with "Hey can you replace the LVDS connector on this iMac? i am afraid i will screw it up" and so i learned how to replace an LVDS connector on an iMac

    If the 2012 iMac is anything like the 2009 iMac I tried to repair, the screen cost more than an entire working unit. I ended up just buying another used fully functional unit for the same price the iScalpers were charging for a USED replacement screen. I then parted out the originally unit and sold the parts individually for more than the whole unit was worth. Gotta love the economics of repairing certain Apple products.

    Nice repair. So what does it tell us?
    Always...always disconnect the power cable and/or battery before working on elektronic stuff. Much better after disconnect power or battery, press long time on power-button to discharge elektricity on the board too.
    If not, this is what happens.
    Nice job alex, greets

      It depends on the workload. For locals we offer fast service specially if repair is not motherboard related. Like phone screens you can pickup 1-2 hours. iPad screens 1 days. Motherboard repairs 1 week. For mails-ins Current time is 1-2 weeks unless customer wants expedited.
