My lifelong love affair with KISS ended on Saturday night Dec. 2nd. My 60 year old self was on the edge of my seat as I watched the band disappear into 'the mists of time' at the end of Rock and Roll Al Nite. I was anticipating the announcement of a living, breathing KISS 2.0 to appear onstage as the smoke cleared. The 90s level AI avatar garbage was a whopping slap in the face to real KISS fans who have followed the band since the 70s and 80s. Now it's time to LET IT BE.
Paul hasnt been able to sing like he used to for some time now. In the end it was hard to watch for me. I dont think i want to hear someone eles sing and play as KISS. Then it would just be an expensive cover band. With A.I they can do whateverr they want, even the singing can be replecated from their younger singing voices. Imagine this show at the sphere in Vegas! There is potential in the technology i think. But for me, i dont want to see or hear anyone but Gene and Paul sing their songs. It just wouldnt be the same and would fall flat for a lot of us older fans, dont you think?
@@james-sf5ycAgreed, yet anyone expecting an ABBA-level AI touring show will be left disappointed. Apparently, the ABBA AI show in London England has already been deemed 'too cost prohibitive' as a touring entity. Gene and Paul will never spend the adequate funds needed. They won't even spend big money to do a proper bio-pic.
@@johnpatterson4272 Your probably right, still the potential is there. I didn't know about ABBA and the cost of their hologram show. But according to Gene and Paul it's happening. Ya never know, ....KISS would never do something cheesy and tasteless for money would they? Have you seen the legendary movie KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park.....that's ground breaking stuff there. 😎✌
Kiss fan in '76 and '76. Hearing Hard Luck Woman was the end for me. Glad we attended the Kiss reunion kickoff at Tiger Stadium. It was great seeing the four original members together one last time. I was done with them at that point. Accept getting old and call it a day.
One of my favorite KISS things I own is the Kissology DVDs. I love that I can put on a concert from just about any era I want and just enjoy from the comfort of my couch.
I've been a diehard kiss fan since 1977 and seen them well over 60 times. I've always been very thankful that I've hooked my wagon to such a fantastic band. But these last 10 years they have been so disrespectful to the rest of the members of Kiss yes Eric Carr Bruce kulick Ace, Peter, Bill, Neil, JR and Sean to name just a few that Kiss would not exist without. And not to pay homage to them in that last show in some way is now where I need to step out. 2.0 LOL
I have no plans to see Avatar KISS in concert. That final concert was terrible. I paid almost $50 for that crap to watch it live. I had a small party for it and the friends and food were a million times better than the concert. We were making the funniest comments about KISS during the concert. The concert sucked but the party was great. I will always remember KISS for when they were good.
The didn’t even add any new songs to the setlist. They’ve played tue same set the entire tour and even took off a couple songs as the tour went on. They had Let Me Go Rock and Roll, Hide your Heart, Crazy Nights, and Tears are falling all on the setlist and they took all of them off. I mean, Its Gene and Paul, what do you expect really 😂
I was at one time obsessed with kiss. As I grew up after my sons were grown up I realized it became a business not really a rock band anymore even though I know they are players and totally invested. I just feel it’s become an industry or incorporated thing now.
Me too, and I completely agree. KISS was a band whose image and stage show lended itself towards marketing of various products but it eventually became nothing but a marketing gimmick wrapped around a band and was definitely no longer primarily about the music.
Having the avatars show up seconds after they walked offstage shows that their ego can't let them simply walk away. This thing may work at the Sphere out in Vegas but not as a touring thing.
I can’t do this, all Kiss did is give people another reason to stay home! Either retire for good, or don’t….but this isn’t real to me. This to me is silly. Rock on Ralph, nailed it you did! Smackamagob! Rock on!
haha. i keep seeing gene's avatar face and i wanna go............a horse walks into a bar.......lmao. his head looks massive and paul's looks tiny. at least the head shots look like that. is it just me????? peace
My Kiss era was, '74-'78. When i heard, I Was Made For Loving you on the radio for the first time, i said:" Aaahhh, DISCO!" That was my "End of the support as a fan". At 13 yrs old. I think i stopped at the right time.
Almost. 20 years ago when it became clear the original members will never be able to stay together for long, I tuned them out. But will always love the classic era up to 1982. Don't understand who the people are paying to go see them, but hey they have 4 generations of fans. Don't like Ace's new song either, and he made me want to play guitar.
@@joeanthony7759 I think the last decent kiss album was carnival of Souls from 97 but there's tons of shitty ones in the 80s and 90s, aces new song is meh, I think compared with his other post 2000s albums its not bad, I'm excited to hear another album from him! I'm bummed I was born much much too late to ever see Kiss when they were awesome
@@misterknightowlandco I should have worded that better 🤣🤣 this is just like a whole new frontier of tarnishing their legacy, I think it's hilarious tbh
Difference between KISS’ and ABBA’s avatars is that ABBA has a whole place set up specifically for that show, along with HUNDREDS of hours of motion capture footage. You know damn well Gene and Paul just went through the motions with it
PLEASE do a R&M Combat Podcast episode on this!!! I'd love to hear you and Wadzilla tear this idea to pieces! 😂😂 the Kiss episodes are some of my favorites
As a child in the 70's, KISS was the most mysterious, magical group to ever command a stage and they at one time walked the talk and put their money where there mouth was. Now it is truly disappointing and embarrassing to witness how it ended. Such a damn shame. They always went out with a bang. But two things...no mention of past members is sadly disrespectful and second, you know it's really bad when they didn't sell out for the last shows. If that isn't the biggest red flag ever, then I don't know what is. But aside from what went down, I'll always have a special place in my musical and theatrical heart for the original vision and lineup.
What little respect I had (a 70s kid seeing the blood and fire) went out the window with this announcement. But seriously what does one expect from Gene Simmons.
Man, you said it all! I saw them multiple times in concert. Last time was in 2009 in Montreal. It was a good show even though Paul had some issues with his voice. I refused to see their last show in November in Montreal because I think that KISS has become a real joke. Way too much money to spend for that crap! And believe me, I used to be a huge KISS fan in the early 80s. Too sad ending a career that way… They should’ve had retire 20 years ago. 😞 Thnx for the memories 🤘🏻
Kiss played Montreal three times during End of the road which is hilarious. I saw the real Farewell show in Montreal back in the year 2000 with Ace and Peter
Paul sings like Alice on the Brady Bunch. Never would of guessed all of these years later Ace is a better singer than Paul and he's putting out new music every couple of years. Ace's new song is growing on me .
Eric Carr is a beloved member of the band and its history. He loved the band and its fans and it showed. Paul was always so jealous of Eric and it took him years before he realized how much Eric meant to the band. In closing, Eric Carr would have NEVER donned the cat makeup because of his respect for Peter Criss.
Brother, You were spot on everything you said tonights video about the New KISS Enema . I am so disgusted and disappointed how Gene and Paul conducted the final show. No dedication to all the former KISS members and those that supported them. There would have been no KISS or the success they obtained if it weren’t for Neil Bogart and Bill Accoin. Then there’s Eric Carr who had some tough shoes to fill and he did it beautifully. (Peter did some great drumming when he was there and loved by the fans, wasn’t an easy gig for Eric do). Whether you like him or not, Vinnie Vincent definitely helped KISS get back in the game with his playing and writing on Creatures and Lick it up (didn’t help much with those live 10 minute guitar solos unless you had to go take a beer piss really bad) Bruce Kulick carried them through the non-make up years and help give them some great songs and great albums (except maybe Hot in the Shade). Mark St John did a great job on Animalize and Marks style of shredding was popular in that part of the 80s. He was the right guitarist for that time. How about recognizing Anton Fig, important part of KISS history. (An fantastic drummer) Damn it pissed me off when the show ends and no dedication. I 100% expecting it. Figured it was a given they would. Thought they had enough class to do at least that. (Apparently I didn’t realize their level of Doucheness could go that low) And before all the KISS nutswingers start in on me (believe me I’m just getting started) , I have been a KISS fan since 1974. First two albums I owned were Beatles Hard Days Night and KISS Dressed to Kill. (Yes it didn’t come out to 75, but I was already listening to them). Then I spent the next 50 years being a hard core KISS fan, proud member of the KISS Army. I bought so much KISS merch I know I put one of Genes kids through college. In middle school, I almost got my a$$ kicked over KISS. There was 5 of them and two of us, but I was willling to take a beating before I’d let some turds talk about my favorite band. At 18 I joined the Army, over the next 26 years, no matter where I was , deployed, in a combat zone, etc I had their music with me. Having a rough day, missing home, 125 degrees, carrying 70lbs of gear, seeing the worse in people everyday and the terrible things they do, etc, can knock you down a few legs. Get back to base, put on Rock & Roll over, and as soon as I heard those guitar riffs (Like Makin Love) I was fired up and ready to go outside the wire again. That’s how much their music was part of my life. I took all my kids to see the Reunion & (first) Farewell tour. And we were in make up. 3PM, day of the reunion concert, on the ramp going into the Arena in Indianapolis, no other fans around, just me and my two kids, we watched all 4 KISS members drive by, and just get out and go in. Not a one acknowledged my kids. Then a security guard came out and said Gene told him to go and tell us we were to leave the premises or he would have someone call the Police. So, a Dad and his 10 year old son and 8 year old daughter, not a single person or fan around, we’re a security risk Gene? Thanks for ruining a special day. (First time I noticed the KISS flag of douchieness. Unknown at that time to me, many more flags would pop up for the next two decades). Last I say to the brainwashed KISStards, I supported, promoted, was loyal to KISS for almost 50 years. I never wavered even during KISS low periods. Always had their back. Still a huge KISS fan, but I’m not going to turn a blind eye to all the lying, fake promises, and all their douchefullery! Let’s get back to all those douche moves they made last weekend. Set didn’t change, no deep tracks. People paid thousands of dollars and come from all over the world, you don’t think you could of thrown in maybe “Love Her All I Can” or “Love ‘Em - Leave’Em” or any deep track. No instead you played “Say What?” (So yeah). You don’t think those fans who gave 30-50 years of loyalty aren’t worth throwing in a few new special trax, Lazy and don’t give a $hit about their fans. Douchebag Flag still flying high! You never did invite all the former KISS members. (Like you said you would). Ace, Peter, and even Bruce Kulick (he recently posted) that Paul, Gene, management , no one called and invited them. Lied to your fans again. The pay for view was horrible. Sounded like I was listening in mono at times. The vocals were horrendous. Corey Feldman sings better than Paul. (And Ace does sound better live than you do Paul). Then you come out with the idiotic KISS Cartoon. If I want to see and experience a quality show without real people performing, I’ll go to Disney World and and get on the “Mr Toads Wild Ride” or “It’s A Small World After All”. Those are more entertaining and exciting than the crap you put on the with Avatards! Enough is Enough Gene and Paul. You’re Embarrassing yourself and you’re making a mockery of something very special and important to your fans: “The KISS Legacy” I’ve always been proud to wear my KISS shirts everytime I stepped out my door. Still wear them all the time at age 59. But after that huge pile of excrement you called the final show, I’d be embarrassed to go out in public with my KISS Alive shirt. I have always been so proud to tell the world, “F&$k ya I’m a KISS fan and freakin proud of it!!” 🤘🤬 Now, I’m not near as proud as I use to be. KISS should have just pulled the plug back in the 90s with all the original members in makeup, and gone out with dignity and heads held high. I probably could go on more about this past weekend, but what good is it going to do. KISStards will continue to scoop up all the 💩 Gene and Paul hand out no matter what I say. But not this KISS fan, I’m done. I’ll just put my headphones on in the comfort of my home where no one can see me, listen to Alive II and crank it to a 11, maybe finally tape Ace Frehley’s Arm back on the doll I’ve had since a kid, kick back and stare out all my posters and KISS merch and think of the glory years when KISS was “The Hottest Band in the World” 🤘😔 Ed Rossman First Sergeant (Retired) US Army Member of the KISS Army also
If I may, KISS were hard, edgy, and dangerous. The non makeup years KISS still could take anybody. It ended with imposters, family friendly(not knocking it), and hello kitty kiss. That’s a pretty fucking drastic change. The imposters? Should have went out on top and they still could have sold merch and maybe a 1 off concert here and there.
I wish someone would use ai to make kiss movies from the 70's/80's instead of....whatever this is. Their music is just so darn cinematic. Listeni to Mr. Blackwell or Star and tell me you don't "see" the song. I love your content man. Cheers from Ohio.
@@die-yah-ree-yuh-man looks more like motion capture and standard issue CGI to me. What they SHOULD be doing is licensing their likeness so art can be made using their characters. Ace and Peter need get in on the action. Gene and Paul MAY own the Catman and the Spaceman but they will never own Ace and Peter.
The fact that they couldn't give props to former members like Kulick and Carr (not to mention Peter and Ace) guarantees they'll never earn my respect again.
I'm a KISS appreciator for decades. I dig a lot of their tunes and various things they've done. Not most/everything thus I'm not a 'fan". Fan is short for fanatic, which is a fairly extreme place to be related to various things. There are appreciators, fans and then there are the dislikers, haters etc. etc .With true "fans" bands, teams (etc etc) people get irrational. It's nearly impossible to be a true "fan" and be sensible.
I dont know about a concert. I'd maybe pay 20 bucks to check it out once. Id def stream it on netflix or whatever. But if they made this a video game, I'd buy the shit out of it..
9:05 They actually didn’t light up the Empire State Building with pictures - it was just the lights. KISS superimposed band pics and the logo on for their official channel! Check out recordings from the actual time - @thefonzkiss has a side-by-side comparison.
As big a fan as I've been over the years, they're overdue to call it a day and I really hope that this is the end of touring. It would've been great to see all the other members being acknowledged at the end of the show, as well as people like Bill Aucoin and Sean Delaney etc. Ah well, the moment's gone. The avatar stuff? If they'd gone more down the road that Abba did it would've been more interesting to me. Maybe re creating the Destroyer or Love Gun stages, and having a realistic young, original members thing. Maybe that's because I never got to see that period in person. If they just release some vintage video stuff that we've not seen before, I'd be happy with that. You can't beat real people on stage. I've liked a lot of stuff they've done since they originally took the make up off, and a lot of the other members contributed some good stuff, especially Eric Carr and Bruce Kulick. But man, the first 10 years were priceless.
the thing about fanbases is what is the perfect definition of a hardcore fan or fan in general? aside from music, do you have to know and love everything about them? do you need to be involved in their lives? know everything about their lives from day and time of birth to how many times they brush their teeth? im a fan of kiss! im a fan of their music and i know the members names, and thats it. thats where it ends. and i agree that theres a lot of controversary amongst not bringing in the other 2 original members and what not and how the performance felt dry, no emotion, and was money grabbing and promoting their new avatar. i still like kiss no matter what.
My god man, great funny stuff! The Tommy memes were killing me! And you are absolutely right! I knew Gene and Paul would never replace themselves. What is absurd is that the reason Kiss didn’t die and fade away a long time ago is #1: Bill Aucoin’s maxed-out credit card and #2: Kiss Alive! What saved them from oblivion was the excitement of their LIVE show. LIVE. Not lip-synced, pretend, taped, half-impersonator show…. LIVE! What Kiss has been best at, hands-down, is topping themselves in all the wrong ways so the avatar cartoon show shouldn’t really surprise anyone. They had to top lip-syncing and tapes, right? You Wanted the Best and you got the Jest! The hottest hypocrites in the World - PISS! Hey, Paul said it!…. In all seriousness, this is one of the reasons I love Kiss. They ARE an endless source of entertainment.
In the avatar video, Paul said to the fans, " Your love, your power, has made us immortal!" By he means, your money has made us richer. Look, if people enjoy the avatars, then good for you! But, it's not the real band!!
I’m happy to say that I saw these guys on The (First) Farewell Tour, in August 2000. These guys have always had a special place in my heart, but reflecting on it: KISS was a band from 1973 and ended in 2000. I wish I could be saddened by their new “farewell”, but I couldn’t happier that this sad scab era appears to over. Such a disappointing last two decades for this band.
I agree with you, to me it was embarrassing that Paul's voice was pitchy. It should have ended in the real Farwell tour! Yet Paul was on camera saying they sounded better then they ever did lol!
Gene and Paul will love sitting on their asses putting out an Avatar tour to keep the money coming in. Agree, that it will definitely flop. Gene and Paul have probably cast their eyes over to the ABBA virtual tour thinking a virtual Kiss show will also work, but people went to those ABBA shows because there hadn't been any kind of show since the early 80's. Whereas Kiss having being doing a farewell tour forever.
I gotta give it to Dr. You were right. I thought for sure KISS would continue with a 100% scab line up. But I guess you know these guys better than me. I do wonder if they will launch an all-scab line up if this avatar thing doesn’t sell.
They can't make any money with an all scab line up or Kiss 2000 or anything else. The only saving grace is the true Kiss fan has is the old concerts and albums we get to see.
I was there Dec 2nd. Absolutely no one around me had any idea what they had just watched with the avitar thing. The QR codes came up and all I heard was someone say it was a link to buy tickets to a Kiss broadway show. I was the only person I saw that actually knew to use my phone and take a picture of it to see what was going on. Most of the show was pretty good. The whole atmosphere in MSG felt kind of forced though. The guitar dual between Paul and Tommy was sad. Tommy must have really held back to keep DOWN with Paul. People bash his voice, but let us not forget to observe, his guitar playing really went poop too. Sounded like a first month guitar student. I could also see in God of Thunder where they got off time with their click track a little bit, but that happens. Video Gene was not mouthing the words at the same time as real Gene. I am curious to see if they fix that for the final release of the concert video. I can't get over how bored Eric looked. I watched some older videos of him playing with Kiss in makeup and he was animated, energetic and having fun. Now he's just robotic and going through the motions step by step. Curious to see what the future really is. I do not think it's this avitar thing and I do not believe they will tour in full makeup again.
Eric is playing to a click track on almost every song. I've done it a few times and it sucks. It limits his playing in most of the songs as he needs to be spot on. Plus he's probably going through the motions also playing the same songs over and over
KISS is easily my favorite band, but this show was a complete joke. The fact that they did NOTHING to set this show apart from any other show is mind boggling. Every time they say everything they do is for the fans...they lie to the fans. It's absurd. And, I cannot believe the embarrassment that is Paul Stanley. His on stage persona these days is no better than a Clowns. Again, I do love KISS. They shaped my entire childhood. It's a real shame that I had to turn off my favorite band's last show. Personally I'm glad it's over...if it even is.
They have become the Clown Princes of Rock alright. They were dead creatively a long time ago. You're right, they could have made that avatar concert something unique, but nope.
Yep, As I said several years, They actually have turned into a clown show! They literally look like clowns in the makeup. When Kiss was at the height of their fame in 77/78 all the Kiss haters would say, "What a bunch of clowns in that stupid makeup, A freaking clown show band." Paul looks like an old drag queen circus freak clown with his sagging old face under his makeup. It's so pathetic and sad. Their egos and greed prevented them from leaving the stage over 20 years ago.
Gene and Paul loves money more than anything in the world, This videogame tour stuff will not last long and they will put on the make up again and get on tour like nothing happened, The farewell tours are a scam. What piss me off is the amount of people who buy anything they put in front of them without complain because they are "true kiss fans"
Too bad they couldn't put aside their childish arguments and made this into something special for the fans and have Peter and Ace make an appearance. Imagine Peter coming in doing Beth and perhaps Hard Luck Woman, Ace on for Shock Me, Parasite and New York Groove. Bruce in for the 80's unmasked era, Vinnie to play on Lick it up etc... That would have been amazing. Then a tribute to Eric Carr and Mark St John. They didn't even show them on the screens...🙈 I was expecting the show to be a celebration of their 50 years but it was essentially the same show they have done for the last decades, no tribute to any past member, not even really a tribute to the band itself. They could have played the songs in chronological order, celebrating each album along the way (of course saving Rock and roll All night for last). This had so much potential, but they decided to just repeat the same show one last time🤷♂️ Edit: as for Paul, the guy can't even speak in tune anymore, he hardly played his guitar on some songs either. Embarrassing
@@Kevin-t6h7w yeah I hear you, but his ego couldn't even take to recognize Eric Carr or the other members of the bands history? Unbelievable, they are and have been an embarrassment for decades now, this just wrapped it all up
I remember looking at the setlist for the second to last show the night before I went to the last one, and it said they played goin blind, I just wanna, and great expectations, so I was excited for them to play it the next night Turned out someone accidentally said they played them on the first and they never actually did
I gave up on them after Unmasked was first released. I did see them on the first reunion tour in 96 but that’s it. The only reason they put the make-up back on in the first place is because their career was fizzling. KISS circa 1994 couldn’t sell out a stadium.
you are probably right on the avatar thing but what if this thing is more advanced than we think ? would the avatars give interviews ? can it mime the music with feeling ? i would like to see that !
For me, Kiss ended in 2015, and I only extend it that long because of that amazing Scooby-Doo movie. Even then, I don't count any of the music or live performances from that era.
Ace comes out with new hit song 10,000 volts for new album still rocking. Paul: We've got something even better for ya! We're gonna become immortal in cartoons, meet the Kiss Avatars! Tell em Gene! Gene: Yeah that's right, the new Kiss Avatars will be touring at at arena near you, tickets will be on sell starting February 2024. Paul: And we know all you fine people will pay $80 a pop to watch our touring Kiss Avatars! The people: NOOOOOOOOO !!
The last show should have ended with them with a credit roll like at the movies with all the people who worked with them since the beginning, showing their photos, and putting in clips of the KISS Army through it. Arena shows always open up seats day of show because there are seats held back. I paid $175 for 100 level tix on Sat. Thousands of people were supposed to get “golden tickets” handed out (as advertised on Ticketmaster when you bought the tickets) but didn’t. The ad for the avatar was kind of lame.
Dr.Fukk gives personal taste of his own. This is quite normal and anyone who has a problem with this is suffering with -Cognitive Dissonance- and unable to accept factual evidence. There are often times where I also have other feelings about music which differ from Dr.Fukk, however accusations such as "You are not a real Kiss fan" are utterly ridiculous. A better comment would be to thank this channel and Dr.Fukk for the time and effort He gives to all of us who watch this channel. If anything Dr,Fukk is not a real Sammy Hagar fan 😛......Thank you Dr.Fukk for the entertainment you have given myself for all this time. LEGEND!!!!
I don’t like the virtual crap band, but younger fans (I am 55 by the way) might do….especially when they’re not longtime Kiss-Fans and don’t know about the history of the band. My thoughts about the final show: 1. What a shame! a) no word about the great Eric Carr (RiP) and Mark St. John (RiP) b) no word about founding members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss c) no word about Bruce Kulick and Vinie Vincent. But performing songs that were written by Ace or Vinie is ok for Paul and Gene!?!?🙄🤔😎💰 2. It was a “normal show”, like the last 100 or 200 shows they did with that lineup. Nothing really special. 3. No respect to the former members by Paul and Gene at all. The money is the most important thing for them…💲💰 and it seems to me that Paul is the person who wanted most to keep the former band members out of the final program. A very unworthy farewell of “the hottest band in the world”! Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪👍🤘 Keep on rocking!👍🤘🎸 P.S.: Ace - Rock on! You are the only real Rockstar of the band - and Gene and Paul know it! Looking forward to the new album “10000 Volts”🤘⚡️👍
Was able to see them live on the Reunion Tour and Psycho Circus tours (1996/1998.) Then the subsequent drama again, the books, and the endless back biting revealed the truth behind the masks. Money baby, it's about the product - not the music, not the band, or the fans at all. They are not the only band to do it as we see many of the once mighty, great bands fall into the same trap. The memories are great, but the reality is they are mortal and the illusion they portray is just that - an illusion.
Eric Carr was the nicest kiss member ever I met him many many times thru the years till his death he was the guy always out there at the end on every show taking care of the fans signing autographs, taking photos with you , telling old story’s , he I was a fans dream. Come true this is a damm Shane they did not acknowledge him on any part of this tour period Mr Carr ‘s drums brought kiss back from the dead what a Shane I never seen this line up of the fake kiss period ever even in Paul’s Stanley’s book he could not help but bash the death of Mr Carr , Mr. Stanley take note you should have taken lots of tips from Mr Carr on how to be fan friendly and be a genuine nice human being and quit worrying about all you guys sign and do goes on to eBay and Mr Simmons it was a classless act at the end of the road show at the garden ( last show ) you talked about a kidney stone ( passing one thru your penis ) you said put it on ebay because everything you guys do is about $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ ask the peole who bought the dubi package and still to this day never got a damm thing what they paid for this is disgusting and a disgrace to the true kiss fans I pray your avatars fail big time --- Anthony
I was WAITING for you, Ralph, to tee off on the Avatars. OMG. Loved this video. I don't know if you saw, but there were also interviews with the KIDS. Yes, some gal, who's name I forgot, did interviews in between the opening act, Amber Wild (Evan Stanley's band) and KISS. She interviewed, Criss Angel, the magician, Desmond Child, the co-writer of "I Was Made for Loving You," and other KISS tunes, and the KISS children, Paul's son, Evan, Gene's son Nicholas and daughter Sophie and Tommy's newly discovered daughter Sierra. I was like, why are they interviewing a magician and a songwriter who is more connected to Bon Jovi and Aerosmith than KISS? Did we need to hear the kids, too?
I saw Kiss during their first farewell tour. It was in June 2000 at Jones Beach amphitheater on Long Island. Everything they did after tour, I didn’t pay any attention to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take a few months off and then decide to go back on tour. Gene and Paul don’t know when to stop. In my opinion, since June 2000 they overstayed their welcome.
This is so so cool ! There's no other band in the history of music who fits better than Kiss in this way ... As SUPER HEROES ! It could be the most spectacular concert ever seen ... My personal dream and idea is to see a Kiss avatar concert at the Sphere in Las Vegas,it would be so cool ... ON THE OTHER WAY,when other giant bands like Rolling Stones,ACDC,Metallica etc won't be anymore ...they will be missed and then people would love to see them live as avatars ...and this is why those who judge Kiss are wrong,in my opinion
I can't tell if you're being sincere or sarcastic. KISS was done awhile ago, this avatar stuff is lame but so is this version of KISS. I was a fan for a long time but now I don't tell people I'm a KISS fan without qualifying the statement by saying I wish they'd have stopped with the farewell tour. These guys are clearly afraid to let it go & this is just another way to soften the blow of getting too old to do it anymore.
I still have my First Kiss "Farewell Tour" t-shirt (2000) - I went to that show Knowing FULL WELL it was my Last chance to see All Original members in Full Makeup. This tour, however, I just Shrugged-off ...No Big Deal. I'm not trying to speak for anybody here ... but I Know Millions of True Die-hard fans would agree with me that if there's NO Ace Frehley & NO Peter Criss - then it Just ISN'T a Real KISS Finale!!
Thanx for all of the Kiss content Ralph. Hope it’s ultimately good for the UA-cam Algormimz! Kiss is not done with the cash grabs. Simmons himself said that this is the End of the ROAD Tour. Specifically the end of touring which could mean anything when you really think of it. Guess you couldn’t have past members guests at the shows because god forbid something upstages the Avatar reveal. Who knows as Simmons said, this is by no means the end of Kiss so maybe some sort of reunion show is still in the works?
Fair review of what happened at MSG! Well done, dude! What freaks me out is that they didn’t do any shoutout to Eric Carr. What a shame! I love ABBA, too. But KISS doing this ABBA-like avatar thing? IMO it won‘t work because one what go to see ABBA because of their music. In KISS we went to their concerts because of their show and entertainment. I cannot imagine that a two-hours KISS cartoon would entertain me. Never ever! I don‘t even like Scooby Doo 😂 After 44 years of being a KISS fan I am done now. Only $$$ .. no respect for Eric, Ace, Bruce, Peter … and a concert that was EXACTLY the same I saw a year ago. Shame shame shame on Paul, Gene & Doc McGhee
I'll forever be a KISS fan. Short term I see it's fine. CGI KISS. I never saw them with Tommy and Eric. I saw the Reunion, Pyscho Circus and Farewell tour and that's how I choose to remember the live shows. Gene, Paul, Ace and Peter, I Loved Eric Carr, Vinnie, Mark St John, Bruce and yes I feel they should be remembered as well. They should be in that CGI think I feel. To be remembered as well. And I don't hate Tommy or Eric, Revenge is a favorite record. And Eric was great with Alice Cooper when I saw Brutal Planet. I think they shouldn't been there own personas or at least some change like Catman to a Lion (Keep his original blonde hair) or Space Man into The Alien (silver outline and black within) and do something similar but different from the originals but keep in the ballpark. Personally, I would like to see a (KISS branded cover band take The Demon, Star Child, Space Man and Catman fuse it with Hollywood face off versions, add the Egyptian God and Fox why not Kinda like Lordi that would be interesting. KISS as a property has something more than they think or the fans. Because nothing can change what they started in the 70s, followed in to the 80s and redid in the 90s. As a Band. Even if the New Era does well... for how long. If I was in change of it using Holograms with KISS, I'd say this is what I think we should do go through the 1 album to the last one and have ai cgi of every person, Go through every era in a cinematic way recreating the stages. But do think this is so bad as many make it out to be .. Not really. I have my memories of KISS. The imagination as a kid looking at Gene spiting fire and drooling blood, Ace smoking and lightening guitar, Peter's drum solos and jungle fills and Paul's ring master type vibe. I have all the records. I'll always be proud of being a fan of KISS, Alice Cooper, Black Sabbath, Ozzy, Dio, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden ect Right now I love Ghost. I don't agree with their choices most types. I used to be a Haunted House actor from 1998-2019 till I hurt my spine and can't do what I love, So I am figuring out ways to tell stories, do art and evolving what I do or did. I didn't wanna preform in a wheelchair, after years of reviewers calling me an icon and scaring 1,000s at the best haunts around. I know how hard it is to give up having the spotlight and still try to be creative. So In that regard I understand the older bands wanting to keep something alive past your prime. But I understand also why folks hate this idea and what they have done for 20 years as well.
Eric will forever be my favorite. so upset they didn’t pay any respects to him or any of the other members for that matter. none of the other past member stole personas so i love them all. little iffy on mark st. john still XD!! Rip fox rip mark! not to mention eric loved his fans and spend time with him. these guys just care about their band accounts. and after this. tommy and eric s will have NO career.
I keep hearing all this about "using tapes" Can anyone explain what that term refers to? I'm not a kiss fan perse, I've only seen them once at the Long Beach Arena, I think the year was 1984 (???).. But I do like 6 or 7 of their songs. BTW, what is "Scab" too? Sorry to ask, but I wanna know..
Paul Stanley has been lip syncing to vocal tapes in concert for years. It was most noticeable on "Psycho Circus" and "I Was Made For Lovin You" at the final show. Not only canned vocals, but also autotuned. LAME. 👎
I can't believe they're using Tommy and Eric for this. Like you said, when people think Kiss they think Paul, Gene, Ace, and Peter. Literally nobody is thinking about Tommy and Eric, most casual fans probably couldn't even name them.
Embarrassing. I wish I could say I'm surprised, but Gene and Paul have demonstrated time after time that they have ZERO rock cred, anymore. Awful. And all this "all for the fans" bullshit is insulting.
Again these guys are old men. They’re Elderly for these two to get dressed up and perform is an incredible feat. I don’t care if they go till they drop. As long as KISS is around I’m ok. They started off in the 70s as a joke ( from the critics ) and they ended up a joke ? Not from me I hope they stay around and piss everyone off !!! KISS ARMY FOREVER
I was kinda interested in what avatar KISS was going to be I admit. Then I saw them on that long video they made and couldn't believe how bad it looked! Going to be interesting to see how it goes, I think I agree with you.
Its been virtually KISS for 25 plus years. I was done with them after Revenge. Didnt Rickey Medlocke try to put a new version of Blackfoot out on the road without even himself, just young dudes,a few years ago? I dont think that worked either.
There was nothing special about the final show, with the exception of an ending that left most people disappointed.
I'm still a fan of what it was been disappointed the last decade with there greatest hit generic setlist and gene and Paul's attitude.
Have you seen the legendary movie
KISS Meets the Phantom of the Park.....that's ground breaking stuff there. 😎✌
Kiss fan in '76 and '76. Hearing Hard Luck Woman was the end for me. Glad we attended the Kiss reunion kickoff at Tiger Stadium. It was great seeing the four original members together one last time. I was done with them at that point. Accept getting old and call it a day.
Lucky man you were at that concert
One of my favorite KISS things I own is the Kissology DVDs. I love that I can put on a concert from just about any era I want and just enjoy from the comfort of my couch.
When they announced the Avatars and, anytime I think about it, the Hall & Oates song Out of Touch keeps playing in my head.
Yeah man worst thing I’d ever seen in my life I mean come on man
The didn’t even add any new songs to the setlist.
I had to pause this excellent video several times because I couldn't stop laughing. The memes, the commentary - hilariously accurate.
I enjoyed Kiss on Scooby-Doo 😂 I Bought it on DVD for my son when he was little, I still own it!!
Rock on!
I love KISS, always will.... but could there be a band less in touch with reality?
haha. i keep seeing gene's avatar face and i wanna go............a horse walks into a bar.......lmao. his head looks massive and paul's looks tiny. at least the head shots look like that. is it just me????? peace
My Kiss era was, '74-'78. When i heard, I Was Made For Loving you on the radio for the first time, i said:" Aaahhh, DISCO!" That was my "End of the support as a fan". At 13 yrs old.
I think i stopped at the right time.
Good call.
It's getting now to the point where I'm embarrassed to be a Kiss fan 😔
Almost. 20 years ago when it became clear the original members will never be able to stay together for long, I tuned them out. But will always love the classic era up to 1982. Don't understand who the people are paying to go see them, but hey they have 4 generations of fans. Don't like Ace's new song either, and he made me want to play guitar.
Just now? It’s just now getting to you? 😂
Just like I'm embarrassed to be an American.
If you think about it, Paul began his avatar transformation years ago when he decided to use his virtual voice on stage.
Thnx for the memories 🤘🏻
Kiss played Montreal three times during End of the road which is hilarious. I saw the real Farewell show in Montreal back in the year 2000 with Ace and Peter
2008 at Download the last time.e I saw Kiss, pretty sure it was before the vocal issues
Paul sings like Alice on the Brady Bunch. Never would of guessed all of these years later Ace is a better singer than Paul and he's putting out new music every couple of years. Ace's new song is growing on me .
I can see them skipping Vinnie Vincent. But Eric Carr !?!?!? Yeah that seems wrong to me too.
(An fantastic drummer)
Damn it pissed me off when the show ends and no dedication. I 100% expecting it. Figured it was a given they would. Thought they had enough class to do at least that. (Apparently I didn’t realize their level of Doucheness could go that low)
And before all the KISS nutswingers start in on me (believe me I’m just getting started) , I have been a KISS fan since 1974.
You’re Embarrassing yourself and you’re making a mockery of something very special and important to your fans: “The KISS Legacy”
I’ve always been proud to wear my KISS shirts everytime I stepped out my door. Still wear them all the time at age 59. But after that huge pile of excrement you called the final show, I’d be embarrassed to go out in public with my KISS Alive shirt. I have always been so proud to tell the world, “F&$k ya I’m a KISS fan and freakin proud of it!!” 🤘🤬
Now, I’m not near as proud as I use to be. I’ll just put my headphones on in the comfort of my home where no one can see me, listen to Alive II and crank it to a 11, maybe finally tape Ace Frehley’s Arm back on the doll I’ve had since a kid, kick back and stare out all my posters and KISS merch and think of the glory years when KISS was “The Hottest Band in the World” 🤘😔

You and I have almost the exact same story... Semper Fi Army Dog!
Yep!
Even I thought they would at least acknowledge past members, Bill Aucoin, Sean Delaney etc. Stupid me, it’s Gene and Paul, of course they didn’t.
Is this not AI?
@@die-yah-ree-yuh-man looks more like motion capture and standard issue CGI to me. What they SHOULD be doing is licensing their likeness so art can be made using their characters. Ace and Peter need get in on the action. Gene and Paul MAY own the Catman and the Spaceman but they will never own Ace and Peter.
The fact that they couldn't give props to former members like Kulick and Carr (not to mention Peter and Ace) guarantees they'll never earn my respect again.
Absolutely agree with you! A total slap in the face to those former members, and especially the fans!
I,m Kiss army, I,m a great fan of Kiss. But I refuse this shit of avatars.
I dont know about a concert. I'd maybe pay 20 bucks to check it out once. Id def stream it on netflix or whatever.
But if they made this a video game, I'd buy the shit out of it..
20 bucks won't buy you a kiss cookie bro. 😉
@@TranceMasterJack 😅
9:05 They actually didn’t light up the Empire State Building with pictures - it was just the lights. KISS superimposed band pics and the logo on for their official channel! Check out recordings from the actual time - @thefonzkiss has a side-by-side comparison.
I’m just glad it continues so there’s something new to laugh at. First it was the scabs, then it was Paul’s voice, then the lipsynching and now this.
And thank you for making me laugh so hard with your brilliant commentary and hilarious pictures. Thank you, you made my day better
Avatar programmer: Gene, so which version of yourself do you want as your avatar? Destroyer era? Love Gun?
Gene: Nah, I'll stick with my puffy look.
the pictures you use for these videos are HILARIOUS!! God... thank you for the laughs!
The new era of KISS are Almost Human 🤟😅
The real Kiss left us 23 years ago. Has never returned.
KISS is now Scooby-Doo for real.
At 60, and a fan from 75-2000, I agree with your comment 110%!!!
Stick a fork in it boyz!
Bored in Indiana too. Looked a little puffy too
Eric is playing to a click track on almost every song. I've done it a few times and it sucks. It limits his playing in most of the songs as he needs to be spot on. Plus he's probably going through the motions also playing the same songs over and over
I literally laughed out loud when you referenced Chevy Chase late Night show. I actually do remember that. It lasted a VERY short time 🤣🤣🤣
KISS is easily my favorite band, but this show was a complete joke.
When Kiss was at the height of their fame in 77/78 all the Kiss haters would say, "What a bunch of clowns in that stupid makeup, A freaking clown show band."
Paul looks like an old drag queen circus freak clown with his sagging old face under his makeup.
It's so pathetic and sad. Their egos and greed prevented them from leaving the stage over 20 years ago.
It’s over for me…they have become an absolute parody of themselves.
The best KISS.... 1974-1990
74-79
74'-79' then the vagina wars began and the 10 year olds were slaughtered.
73-80
Paul's avatar voice - your love, your power... ugh
They didn't even show them on the screens...🙈
I was expecting the show to be a celebration of their 50 years but it was essentially the same show they have done for the last decades, no tribute to any past member, not even really a tribute to the band itself. They could have played the songs in chronological order, celebrating each album along the way (of course saving Rock and roll All night for last).
This had so much potential, but they decided to just repeat the same show one last time🤷♂️
Edit: as for Paul, the guy can't even speak in tune anymore, he hardly played his guitar on some songs either. Embarrassing
Great statement!👍🤘
We can thank Paul for that, his ego couldn’t have handled being upstaged by Peter and Ace as that would have been the highlight of the show.
@@Kevin-t6h7w yeah I hear you, but his ego couldn't even take to recognize Eric Carr or the other members of the bands history? Unbelievable, they are and have been an embarrassment for decades now, this just wrapped it all up
I remember looking at the setlist for the second to last show the night before I went to the last one, and it said they played goin blind, I just wanna, and great expectations, so I was excited for them to play it the next night
Turned out someone accidentally said they played them on the first and they never actually did
I gave up on them after Unmasked was first released. I did see them on the first reunion tour in 96 but that’s it. The only reason they put the make-up back on in the first place is because their career was fizzling. KISS circa 1994 couldn’t sell out a stadium.
Truth!
you are probably right on the avatar thing but what if this thing is more advanced than we think ? would the avatars give interviews ? can it mime the music with feeling ? i would like to see that !
Those avatars should just go to a nursing home and crap themselves
Why?
@@richardheadly7466 to see how advanced the icons are
For me, Kiss ended in 2015, and I only extend it that long because of that amazing Scooby-Doo movie. Even then, I don't count any of the music or live performances from that era.
Ace comes out with new hit song 10,000 volts for new
album still rocking.
Paul: We've got something even better for ya! We're gonna
become immortal in cartoons, meet the Kiss Avatars! Tell em Gene!
Gene: Yeah that's right, the new Kiss Avatars will be touring at
at arena near you, tickets will be on sell starting February 2024.
Paul: And we know all you fine people will pay $80 a pop to watch
our touring Kiss Avatars!
The people: NOOOOOOOOO !!
$800 is more like it
LOL at the Abner Deveroux remark !!!
Yup, you definitely called it...more than once. KISS has cornered the market of on cringe.
Ive been into them since 84'- 85' , and seeing just clips of it, eek, ouch!😮
My thoughts about the final show:
1. What a shame!
a) no word about the great Eric Carr (RiP) and Mark St. John (RiP)
b) no word about founding members Ace Frehley and Peter Criss
c) no word about Bruce Kulick and Vinie Vincent.
But performing songs that were written by Ace or Vinie is ok for Paul and Gene!?!?🙄🤔😎💰
Greetings from Germany 🇩🇪👍🤘
Keep on rocking!👍🤘🎸
P.S.:
Ace - Rock on! You are the only real Rockstar of the band - and Gene and Paul know it!
Looking forward to the new album “10000 Volts”🤘⚡️👍
I hereby dub the 'new era' of Kiss SUKK
Was able to see them live on the Reunion Tour and Psycho Circus tours (1996/1998.) Then the subsequent drama again, the books, and the endless back biting revealed the truth behind the masks. Money baby, it's about the product - not the music, not the band, or the fans at all. They are not the only band to do it as we see many of the once mighty, great bands fall into the same trap. The memories are great, but the reality is they are mortal and the illusion they portray is just that - an illusion.
As someone who isn't a kiss fan, I have to say it's pretty great.
Remember last time Paul said "It was a farewell....to Ace and Peter" in the band
Where there really tickets available to the last show on the day of?
I saw Kiss during their first farewell tour. It was in June 2000 at Jones Beach amphitheater on Long Island. Everything they did after tour, I didn’t pay any attention to it. I wouldn’t be surprised if they take a few months off and then decide to go back on tour. Gene and Paul don’t know when to stop. In my opinion, since June 2000 they overstayed their welcome.
Rip Rip Rip and destroy!!!!
The KISS show cannot move off script since the whole show is synched to tacks. Hence Paul with the 1 2 3 4
This is so so cool !
I real fan can criticize. Fandom doesn't mean being a yes man.
I do try my best not to be upset with KISS
I still have my First Kiss "Farewell Tour" t-shirt (2000) - I went to that show Knowing FULL WELL it was my Last chance to see All Original members in Full Makeup.
This tour, however, I just Shrugged-off ...No Big Deal.
I'm not trying to speak for anybody here ... but I Know Millions of True Die-hard fans would agree with me that if there's NO Ace Frehley & NO Peter Criss - then it Just ISN'T a Real KISS Finale!!
Love the video. Great job.
Thank you!
Never ever! I don‘t even like Scooby Doo 😂
After 44 years of being a KISS fan I am done now. Only $$$ .. no respect for Eric, Ace, Bruce, Peter … and a concert that was EXACTLY the same I saw a year ago.
I keep hearing all this about "using tapes"
Can anyone explain what that term refers to?
I'm not a kiss fan perse, I've only seen them once at the Long Beach Arena, I think the year was 1984 (???)..
But I do like 6 or 7 of their songs.
BTW, what is "Scab" too?
Sorry to ask, but I wanna know..
Paul Stanley has been lip syncing to vocal tapes in concert for years. It was most noticeable on "Psycho Circus" and "I Was Made For Lovin You" at the final show. Not only canned vocals, but also autotuned. LAME. 👎
@@jfrey1 Oh ok..I didn't know that. Thanks for the explanation, now I'm going to check it out..
You hit the nail on the head about everything amen.
I always thought they would take the nepotism route with nick and evan but ended up taking the scooby doo route pretty much instead.
Paula sounds like an angry Madea 🤣🤣🤣🤣 "lithen pee pole"
I can't believe they're using Tommy and Eric for this. Like you said, when people think Kiss they think Paul, Gene, Ace, and Peter. Literally nobody is thinking about Tommy and Eric, most casual fans probably couldn't even name them.
Those pics are hilarious 🤣
The avatar show might work as an attraction in Las Vegas but don't think it will be a success as a touring show.
I agree with you, Ralph
I had NO IDEA about Abner Devereaux
What is you ring size? I want to send you a set of Kiss rings. Ace (not Spaceman!)(available on eBay) for all your great work!
I new it was Abner... lol
All we needed was Rip & Destroy. Abner would have been proud! They never explain what happened to him in the movie.
Its been virtually KISS for 25 plus years. I was done with them after Revenge. Didnt Rickey Medlocke try to put a new version of Blackfoot out on the road without even himself, just young dudes,a few years ago? I dont think that worked either.
I just looked up when Revenge was released -1992 - almost 32 years ago! whoa!!
I think that guy at 8:36 with the Tommy Thayer tattoo IS Tommy Thayer.
I'd like to see the surviving former members put on one final show, and call it Kissed Off
My grandmother is upset with KISS. I'm not
🤣
