Hi Remi! :) Thank you for your kind words. Your comments are greatly appreciated. In answer to your question "Honestly though, is it a no no to buy a K in color?" It's perfectly fine to purchase a K color! What I advocate is *knowledge before the purchase* and as you also note I place a heavy emphasis on cut quality. Ie. Know what you're getting before you plunk down your hard earned cash and buy from a company that will give you a liberal return policy.
naturalarts I'm assuming you're talking about mariah carey lol but I'm in love with her ring too. i even bought my self a 1.5 carat emerald cut ring because i fell in love with the cut.
I don't expect you to answer but I'll throw it there...what is the price difference between a two carat SI (those with obvious inclusions as you have shown here) and a two carat VSI or VSII....how much more can I expect to pay for eye clean ?
In brief though, K colors with great optics can look just fine. In the past my wife wore a K and today she wears an N. What does that tell you. ;) I'll be the first to say they're not for everyone though. As long as you can tolerate a faint tint/hue when you observe the diamond from a tilt angle or side view then no problem. :)
AGS Laboratories has an 11 grade system whereas GIA has a 5 grade system. By default AGS's system is more stringent than GIA's HOWEVER not all AGS Ideal's would qualify for GIA Excellent and naturally there are many GIA Excellent's that will not qualify for AGS Ideal. What I do personally AgonyShorts is hunt down those GIA Ex's that DO in fact have AGS Ideal optics and/or vice versa ... hunt down those AGS Ideal's that also qualify as GIA Ex. To my knowledge we are the only lab that does it
Much as I love emerald cut, I don’t think it is practical for daily wear. You have to keep it super clean- otherwise any speck of dust will make it look so-so.
