    I asked Meng/Haku to put me in the Tongan grip backstage at a show for a picture... he just looked at me, grunted, and squeezed my throat while I lost all feeling in my body... I legit had my life flash before my eyes... to this day it is still my favorite picture

      I have gone to other conventions and asked wrestlers to put me in their holds, the ones who did it just played along with a photo-op, smiled and laughed for the picture. Not Meng... the man legit could have ended me. Every breath I take to this day is one of gratitude

    I went to a show at the Spectrum in Philadelphia back in the late 80’s with a couple of friends. Arn, Tully, and King Haku walked right by us to the ring. One of my friends was heckling Haku making fun of him. Haku ignored the heckling but Arn turned towards my friend and said something along the lines of “that man will destroy me, Him (referring to Tully) and the bunch of you without breaking a sweat.”
    I had heard haku was tough at that time, but the way Arn stopped and drove the point home all the way back then always stood out to me. I remember that better than most matches I saw back then

      As JJ Dillon said, tough guys will never tell you themselves that they're tough. You'll always hear it from others.
      That makes Haku as legit as they come.

    This incident happened on June 26th 1988 at the Safari Club in Baltimore. The name of the guy who lost his nose is Warren Brent Cooper and the name of the bouncer who Haku laid out is Nick J Stanko. Haku was sued for $1.1 million. The newspaper article is just a simple Google search away.

    It seems like most of the legends talk about how nice of a guy Haku/meng is . It’s almost a split personality

    • @jasonlane6187
      @jasonlane6187 4 роки тому +2

      But to say "split personality" almost sounds like you're saying he's violent on his own. Arn straight up said at the beginning that he's a "magnet" for drunk idiots who constantly try to test him and pick fights with him. Like, it seems that this guy can't go out and drink with his co-workers in public without someone always picking on him. Go listen to Barbarian's account of the nose-biting incident (as told to him by his tag partner The Warlord, who witnessed it): this drunk idiot kept coming up to Haku while he was drinking in the bar and taunting him about his alleged toughness, and Haku said he didn't want any trouble; and politely asked him to go away because he's minding his own business drinking with his friends. The guy came back again, and Haku once again said, "I asked you to leave me alone please; don't come back over here again, or I'm going to hurt you"; the idiot comes back A THIRD TIME and, well...just listen to way Barb describes what Warlord told him Haku did. Warlord starts his story by telling him, "Barb, I'm a big man, right? I've never been scared of nothing my entire life. Until I just saw what I saw." ( ua-cam.com/video/If2NPyYc1oo/v-deo.html )
      I wouldn't call it a split personality. I'd call it constantly pushing someone until they snap. By all accounts, Haku was a sweetheart and a family man and never had any problems backstage. But drunk tough guys with liquid courage were constatnly egging him on and picking fights with him. Haku's not starting any fights; he's just ending them. A "split personality" is when someone behaves unpredictably and you don't know what you're getting from one moment to the next. Haku is VERY predictable. He's predictably "a nice guy".
      Unless you keep pushing him for a fight.
      Then, he's predictably a killer who may end your life.
      That's consistency you can set your watch to.

      Not really - think of it like those stories with the 100lb woman lifting a heavy object off her kid, far as I can tell he only ever did anything like this when someone poked the bear and didn't heed the warnings. Haku knows what he's capable of, that's why most of the stories often include a part like Jason Lane said about handing out a warning that something bad is about to happen - which for most people is generally enough, when alcohol is involved that reduces significantly due to beer balls.

Hercules Hernandez torture rack and then dropping to his knees with said victim was the most painful move he received at the time ! cheers !

      Only 2 people Andre the Giant was actually afraid of and one of them was Haku/Meng. Captain Lou lived near me when I was growing up. Through him I met a bunch of the guys growing up. When I met Andre and shook his hand, his hand swallowed my arm up to my elbow lol. But I asked is there anyone he was afraid of the way others were him, he just bellowed and laughed then went quiet (by his standards lol,) and said Haku. I think you can find Bobbie the Brain in an interview mentioning the same but he said Andre was afraid of 2, Haku and the other was Harley Race.

    Anyone else hope Haku will take part in AEW along with his old pal Double AA in some way, shape, or form? Maybe Haku could help manage an up-and-coming Samoan face talent for a change, especially since Haku never wrestled as a face to the best of my knowledge. It'd be an interesting change of pace and still have him be a true badass

Haku went berserk basically and immediately bit his nose off and started attacking other guys as well. Pretty messed up. The guy I think won a 1.1 million lawsuit in 1988 dollars as a result of the attack.
