    Why on Earth are 1.2 million people interested in the acceleration of a 1.0 eco boost Ford engine?

    • @BrokenBone_RBLX
      @BrokenBone_RBLX 6 років тому +436

      because we want to see very fast cars, or very cheap/slow cars. dont show me the acceleration of a v6 mustang, I want to see bugattis or ford fiestas.

      Because I own one of the smallest 2001 focus mk1s ever made and mine runs a fiesta engine and everyone hated them. Now there making a 1.0 eco boost. And you can get the same engine in the focus. So people want to view the difference

      @@markfox1545 well, the first ones are 7 or 8 years old now...........Some have 100k, some 200k kilometers....so say that again.
      A BMW V6 is less reliable than 200.000. Or a VW TSI or TFSI has a hard time even getting to 100.000 without big repairs....
      so pretty reliable compared so some competition i would say.

      @@dom3827 Ummm actually the early versions of the 1.0 ecoboost are notorious for having serious problems with headgasket failure and even the cyclinder head itself cracking they have fixed the issues but the early ones have had major issues sure some did just fine but others have blown at 30k miles due to the initial poor design, also these engines struggle to achieve 40mpg. Overall they are rubbish. I'll stick to the 1.2 engine Toyota offers which drives with all the benefits of a Diesel and a petrol with none of the negatives.

      Why? its one of the worst engines designs of the 21st century. It has a wet timing belt that sheds rubber particles into the oil causing the oil pump and strainer to jam up and starve the engine of oil causing them to blow up. Replacing the timing belt costs over £1000 too on an economy car. It also had issues with coolant too. Its an abysmal engine as is the 1.2 pure tech from PSA. The best small displacement turbo petrol engine is the 1.2T I4 engine from Toyota featured in the Toyota Auris and CHR, its smooth, economical, pulls incredibly well and is flawlessly reliable and has a timing chain.

    I love accelerating in mine, nice open clear road this thing shoots. Absolutely stunning deep engine sound for such a small engine, 3 cylinder turbo seriously has some power and a lovely experience to drive terrific performance for an affordable car. I've left some people behind in this car, don't be decieved by a 1 litre. The gearbox can stick sometimes though as first to second when accelerating hard can sometimes ruin the experience, but it's a family eco car, the nippy nature is a lovely bonus.

      its working as hard as a old 1 litre from 15 years ago, its just the build quality if more efficient which results in more power output. if it has 120 hp vs 180hp of a 2 litre both work equally as hard to get the max hp they can do. As long as the engine build quality is more more than the rated hp itl be fine. a shit 2 litre can die much faster than a great 1.0 i have seen it

      The gear ratio is already very long (more than 100 kph in 2nd gear...), so to compensate you have to rev it to the red line.

    The Polo 1.0 Tsi has 128 hp (ethanol - gasolina, 116 hp) and 20.4 kgfm of torque (ethanol or gasoline).

    yep and mountune tuning recon they can get the 1 litre turbo up to 177bhp. that's insane as the fiesta 1 litre turbo is pushing out more horsepower for that litre, than what a lambo is for 1 litre. and when your car is upgraded at mountune or your mountune ford dealer, it doesn't affect your vehicle warranty. has anyone had the 135 bhp upgrade from mountune and does it iron out any turbo lag problems. and most importantly is it worth the 400 quid the charge for it

      +Tom Jardine It depends in what car do you have it. If it is a compact it might be underpowered (an engine with too little power also has high fuel consumption). If it is a small car you might want to work on your driving technique or you are just driving mainly in the city traffic where almost every car drinks alot.

    • @cataxo444
      @cataxo444 9 років тому

      +Tom Jardine mine does aswell, ford announces 7.4L/100 on city but I average in mixed driving about 8-9L with "spirited" driving
      What I notice mainly is that the car feels underpowered for motorway speeds AND also lacks torque for city driving
      The ECONETIC diesel 1.6 TDCi or the new 1.0L ecoboost engines are a much better choice.

Which why i bought a titanium x 1.6 ecoboost mondeo , its gears are about right for a 1.6 Shorter And more driver enjoyment although 160bhp its not bad but i did remap it as im used to over 200bhp cars anyway .
      However sadly the mk5 mondeo is too big and heavy for its 1.5 ecoboost
