    Please consider changing the title of your video- it’s not giving this phenomenal video it’s due justice.
    This should be a mandatory video for driving instructors. The instructor’s feedback is calm and concise while under stress. Listen to his analogies. This is a tool used to improve learning retention. His criticism comes immediately upon a mistake yet the delivery is supportive- he doesn’t make it personal and he doesn’t linger on the issue. Most importantly his genuine enthusiasm transcends into motivation and better performance from his student. You can feel the student’s desire to satisfy his instructor!
    I wish I knew the background on the coach- His technique echos of a military or emergency responder background. Good man and a phenomenal teacher.
    Please, please consider a different title. This is a goldmine of information for those of us who teach. Thank you for posting, warmly, Boston

      It's more dangerous to have a student driver in front of you. They are far more likely to crash than to hit you, if there is this great a difference performance between cars. The Ferrari F430 should have been able to put far more distance between himself and the Focus, were the driver of the Ferrari more skilled and determined.

    • @Gr1mR34p3r85
      @Gr1mR34p3r85 6 років тому +1

      I always try to make my trip to work more interesting by overtaking, but I never counted during driving, only sometimes at the end of the trip.
      But you can play this game only in high traffic, in low traffic you can go for minimum time.
      Of course both are dangerous, as you overtake where you wouldn't otherwise.
      What's interesting, I always thought I am the only one who could thought of these games. But I probably am at least in my country. I haven't met similar person on the road, in the flesh and on the forums.
      Police is no problem here in Slovenia, I regularly hit 140 km/h, max up to 160, 120 is normal speed for a 200HP car. And we lose licence if we go more than 140 on 90, so I shouldn't go more than 150 speedo. But police never measures speed out of towns, so I'm safe.

    Next time at 8:30 don't jerk the wheel like that in all directions when the car starts slipping, just ease the throttle (don't let go entirely) and make a slow, small correction. The car saved it this time but when you don't have 4wd and electronic systems helping you, that could've made you slip even more and all control would've been gone, causing you to spin out and maybe even crash against the side of the track. Otherwise great driving and good luck getting even better and faster around that track!

    • @DanielBrown3793
      @DanielBrown3793  6 років тому +6

      Pro Tycho yeah, he explained after the fact, that he was trying to teach me trail braking. I was on the brakes and let go completely instead of slowly releasing the brake. I also trurned the wheel too much initially. I didn't know at the time, and heard him say "off brakes" and by the time he continues with "slowly" I had already upset the car. But the car is very forgiving on mistakes, and I'm very thankful for it. I'll definitely be practicing more on the ring. Thanks for the feedback! 👍👍

      Great to hear you're picking up on things quickly! If you want to learn how to react better to slides and stuff you could always look up skid training in your area, this helped me immensely with feeling traction and countersteering properly. Plus, it's always great fun trying to control a car with slicks on ice or wet cement for a few hours!

    This vid has been on my "suggested viewing" list for a long time and I finally watched it. I tend to fall into the old Top Gear mindset of "oh boy, the Nurburgring...", but this was less about the track and more about the driver/instructor relationship. What an amazing teacher and friend you have! And what a great opportunity to take a fast, fun car around the track with him.

    • @DanielBrown3793

I let him have the wheel in this car around the Grand Prix track in the next video and he gets even more in depth.

    Cool experience D. Brown, thanks for sharing. I've a 2018 RS and love it. Some of the comments on here though, geez...don't understand the haters. As far as the Ferrari, the coach even said, "he's letting you pass" then he said, "don't know what happened there." That Ferrari was taking a lotta corners way wide/poor driving. The video is about the experience and not about the Ferrari though, right? :)

    • @DanielBrown3793
      @DanielBrown3793  6 років тому

      The video, is Definitely about the experience and learning a lil more about how to drive fast. I understand that the Ferrari let me pass haha and most supercar owners don't drive their cars fast even on track for fear of wreaking them. Do I think Ford focus's are faster than Ferrari's? Hell no haha the title was simply to help advertise the experience. And the title doesn't say "raced and beat a Ferrari" it says "passed a Ferrari" the nature of the pass is irrelevant lol most people don't understand that.
