    Nice of you Will to mention that the motor can be bought online and what a bummer that you have to buy the whole barn from the dealer :) And always a good thing to double check settings just to make sure. Of course, I know you've seen to where the OEM information is wrong also :) Have a good one and don't work too hard!

      stuzman if time allows most parts can be ordered online with huge savings, even if compared to your local big name stores AutoZone etc. they seem cheap but still marked up compared, nearly 90% on a set of o2 sensors purchased last week got 2 for 1 just about identical items. thanks for the compliments I will pass on to Tammy ;)

    Excellent review on the entire process!! Need to perform this same repair to my 2009 VW Touareg. VW dealer tells me the passenger side wiper arm mechanism is 'stuck' to the two mounting posts and will not come free w/o cutting the arm mechanism off. I live in the desert. The car lives in the desert. The car rarely gets wet. Hard to believe the dealer's story. I will dive in and investigate myself. Your review will help me immensely with the process Thank you!!

    Nice video Will. I see you got artistic with the video cover. Should be a happy customer with functional wipers and a less costly repair than at a dealership.

    I've got 3 wiper issues. First is the passenger side stays put. I figure bad bushings somewhere. Next is the wipers only work around 10mph or more. Some comments said this is intentional. But I am sitting at a light, its showing or sleeting, my windshield is getting obscured. I don't have a good view ahead. I can't imagine any car company making a system that stops a 10mph or less. I totally get the auto adjusting delay for speed. And my washer doesn't work, but I have the new pump for that fix.

    I assumed from the beginning that the wiper motor would be a dealer only or salvage yard item. Did it cost an arm and a leg or just an arm an a leg up to the knee?............lol. Thanks for another excellent video, sir.

    • @robinsonsauto
      @robinsonsauto  7 років тому +1

      ICU2 dealer will try and sell the complete assembly price tag comes with a stroke, they went for the arm and leg then i stepped away before they got the jewels lol however you can find just the motor online pretty easily if time allows (7L6-955-119-B) around $200us

    can bus is the future. without a scope it is impossible to do diagnostic on modern cars.

  • @farmboysgarage7595
    @farmboysgarage7595 7 років тому

    I can see where that could be a real pain. I guess if you spend the money at the dealer and get the whole assembly, there'd be no worries about alignment. Nice job!

    • @robinsonsauto
      @robinsonsauto  7 років тому

      Farmboy's Garage true but then again they would most likely need to be coded, park position measured out after install then learned, so it really wouldn't mater much. This method is a known park position off the vehicle with a coded wiper motor

    2004 VW Taureg. How in the world do you get the pivoting nut off the bolt? This is the passenger side where the wiper is mounted to the motor and a pivot bearing in order for the wiper to be supported moving upwards. This is a free moving bearing underneath and there's no way to grab/hold the bolt to get the nut off. How would I get this off? I have everything else off but that nut.

    Is there a special tool that allows you to remove the passenger side, non-drive spindle nut off? The bolt/spindle is free spinning and I'm not sure how thats supposed to come off without a special tool or way to lock the bolt while tightening or loosening. Thanks

    • @batchjs
      @batchjs 3 роки тому

      I have this same problem! There must be a trick... or a tool? I do know there is a metallic bushing in the arm mount on the non-drive spindle. That bushing is known to corrode to the spindle. Soak the passenger wiper arm spindles and mounts with PB Blaster for several days and see if that helps.

  • @erikandresen5399
    @erikandresen5399 7 років тому +1

    Locktite will NOT "work it's way into the treads". It is not a penetrant. It hardens from lack of oxygen and pressure. If it did work it's way down that would mean the treads are badly worn.

    • @robinsonsauto
      @robinsonsauto  7 років тому

      Erik Andresen true, disregard that step not required anyhow it's a taper lock that are normally a bi### to get apart without anything. gotta get something for effort, saved the next guy lol cheers

  • @Robbrown92
    @Robbrown92 3 роки тому

    On mine the left wiper the one with the two mounts the taper has come out of the arm and I can’t get it to bite the arm and it just spins

    • @tigurr
      @tigurr Рік тому

      I'm dealing with the same thing, I was told the part of the arm that connects to the spline stripped out that's why it's not turning / wiping on the passenger side anymore. so I'm hoping I can just replace the arm, we'll see, hopefully it's not a transmission wiper arm linkage problem.
