I just have to say, Jessica, you are by far the best teacher online. You are thorough, organized, and your thought processes are concise. You also follow through on links in your video descriptions when so many channels forget.
When you were hanging the onions in the cellar, I got so excited for you! I know you've been looking forward to that cellar for a long time. I loved the overhead shot of you packing the onions and garlic!
Have you're husband look into mini split heat pumps (air conditioner). They cost much less than central air and can be installed yourself. They're more efficient than window units too!
Another way you can preserve your cherry tomatoes is to roast them in the oven, put in a jar and cover with olive oil and keep in the fridge. I also add garlic cloves for extra flavor and they will store for a year and retain all of their flavor. Great for adding to pizza and other recipes.
I had the same thought. Two years ago I was flush with cherry tomatoes. I dried and froze most of them. I could take a handful for each salad or pizza I made. I'm glad I did because the next two years I have not been successful in growing them. Too much pest pressure and not enough water. They are like candy when dried.
The beautiful smile at the very end (Levi?) was priceless! I learn so much from you every video! Thank you for that. Agreed on The Holler Homestead! Love watching both of you. I did a video on preserving apples and towards the end, I gave a shout out to you and the Hollers for all the wonderful inspiration. You are truly helping others. So wonderful ❤
I'm regretting all the cherry pits I tossed. I won't make that mistake again! Beautiful cherry jam and jelly. I love seeing hanging onions and garlic it must be so satisfying to go down to the cellar and see all of your hardwork manifested into nourishment for your family. Thank you for another great video.
You are so motivating and inspiring to others. I love hearing all the nice things that the other you tubers are saying about you. It warms my heart as I feel like they are talking about my friend. Thank you for everything.
I bet you love the extra space in your kitchen. Your cellar looks great. I always enjoy your content because its different but very relatable. I have a small kitchen and modest home/garden. Nothing fancy, but seeing what you are able to accomplish inspires me.
Ik you don't wanna be redundant with canning repeat items but remember you have new people come to your channel daily. I watch Acre homestead ( where I found your channel) and I love watching her do every canning even when she's done many times before. It's very interesting.
Hey Jessica, you’re like the energized bunny 🥰. I’m waiting on doing my beans, it has rained HARD at least twice a week the entire month ( so much so that it takes DAYS for the lawn to dry up enough to cut ) Yesterday’s rain my tomatoes fell over, so out I went to put them back up 😯 the ground is so wet they didn’t want to stay either. My Roma tomatoes are clustered and hanging like big grapes 😄 SUCH a beautiful growing season. I was up at 4am - woke by my husky, deer out in my back garden. 😡 Getting so angry at them now. Bean tops, turnip, and peas all 2nd plantings, are missing all their blossoms. Thankfully though- as long as there’s enough foliage they will continue and produce. It was so wet yesterday I didn’t cover them back over as they looked squished when I tried - to the deer it was all you can eat buffet. Love your channel AND the Hollars ♥️ Just so natural & doesn’t feel like a classroom 😂 Love your set up in the basement. 👍
Hi Jessica. I think you need to do another challenge for over the winter, maybe January or February. Clean out the fridge/freezer challenge. Great time to get together and make some soups or prep meals. Love your challenges.
If you put a heavy duty fan in your basement pointing up the stairs to the main floor of the house, the cool air from the basement will help cool the rest of the house. I hope I explained that right lol. That is how I cool my house on the few warm days we have here in Michigan.
BTW, I use my straightener to seal also. 👍. Those machines , I e had two that didn’t last a year. Pasta and such, I use mason jars and a brake bleeder to get the air totally out.
How nice to have the extra cellar space. I’m hoping for a good onion harvest so I have plenty to store. I need to reorganize my canning shelves but the harvest is coming in so fast I need to prioritize the food first. Great info on using the pits.
I live in south central Kentucky. I really do not have a green thumb, but I am fascinated by all of the canning and gardening things. I am trying a few new things, but am taking it very slow. Thanks for all of the great inspiration! 😊
Not sure if anyone else commented, but if you wait for those sugar rush peach peppers to ripen to a pinky peach, they are super delicious and sweet, and the color is glorious! Thanks for all the ideas!
I’m in northeast Ohio as well. Where is your local Amish community? I’m in Delphos, OH & the closest Amish we know of is in Berne, Indiana. I moved here only a few months ago so still new to finding local places for produce. I’ve followed you for quite a long time. You are so thorough with your explanations & teaching people! I always look forward to your videos every week!
Once again , love the no waste! Just a note that when I use my cherry pits for making jelly, after I get the juice I wash the pits and dry them to make into little hot pads for sore muscles! I think we will all be glad when this very busy produce time gives us a break! Blessings!
Get you all 2 or 3 window air cond. Units! Lots cheaper than putting big unit under house up thru floor into house.! I dont do lot cooking in hottest part of summer! That kitchen is unbearable! I know how you feel. Sandwiches, salads, fruits is best eaten when so hot. Just suggestion. I have 2 window units in my house, helps tremendously!❤
Jessica you are amazing 👏. 👏. Thank you for keeping me motivated this late in the gardening season. I am now starting to remove hoses, and soaker hoses in preparation for frosts that are only weeks away, while still canning, and freeze drying and dehydrating all that I have. I love the busyness of the season, but the heat could go away.😊
Good morning friend! Not able to do it everyday, but every chance I get I do! You are so encouraging, and are a wonderful teacher! Always look forward to starting my week with you! Thank you! You’re a blessing! Have. A great day, week!❤
I love peaches, I'm going to use your recipes, absolutely love your channel and your children how beautiful to see children enjoying out door life🤗🥰 hm prepare cook meal and all the hm made stuff around the hm. Thank you Jessica.
Good afternoon my dear friend, you never fail to amaze me, all of your ideas with the food are extraordinary!! So happy for you, that the cellar is useable, clever idea to hang the bags of onions and garlic! Enjoy your Sunday, looking forward to seeing you midweek!
Definitely empathize with trying to get canning, etc. done for a large family in the extreme heat. Heat like this (100's) is common where I live, usually in July and August, but it has been since June. I was frustrated and ended up getting a Carey automatic electric pressure/ water bath canner that I can use outdoors (have to have an outdoor electric outlet, obviously) in the heat. It works great, don't have to stand out there babysitting it and risking heat stroke, and the house stays cooler. It does smallish batches, but it's a great tool! I found that by using the "flat" 1/2 pint jars I could get 2 levels in the canner. Also, with the onions, etc. I stretched chain between ceiling hooks and was able to make small hooks from a metal coat hanger, enabling me to hang more bags on the chain but keep the air flowing.
You have inspired me to think outside of the box in regards to food preservation. I received a nesco electric pressure canner for my birthday or Mother’s Day last year. It has been a blessing because it makes it so much easier to do small batches of preservation using either pressure or water bath canning. ❤️
I have been watching you for sometime now and you are an amazing woman, I admire you so very much. You are not only a wife but a wonderful mother who has such love for her children.. I have 5 children and I truly understand what it takes to complete a day of cooking., cleaning, washing and at the same time cooking for such a large family. God Bless You!
Such an inspiration! I need to know what you do to have so much energy? So glad you are getting a good pepper harvest. It's so hot in the deep south even our peppers are melting. 😂 maybe when it cools off they will start back up.
Good morning 🙏😊. And thank you for another great video! This has been a great year for peppers and tomatoes! And you have given me some more ideas for what to do with them! PS. Your kitchen looks lovely ! I bet you are loving your new pantry! Blessings to you and your family. 🙏
Jessica you are so inspiring so many ideas you give me even though there are only two of us, kids are all married on their own I still love to can. I’m looking into a freeze dryer and I wonder if you could do a video in the wintertime on how to use freeze dried food. Thanks
Thanks for honesty as to today's journalism--It's all about jokes and ratings, no authenticity, without care for the after effects. A+ Good report today!
Everything looks great. I have those same little netted bags that I bought on Amazon as well but I’m going to use them to hold up my melons in the garden.
Yes over here in England jam is just jam it just says seedless or no fruit pieces on the labels. Jelly is your jell-o, of which I’ve just made up some orange with some mandarin pieces in and it’s so delicious especially when made up with fresh orange juice!
Tomatoes and peaches, my grandmother used to make a " ketchup" that was more like a chutney, with peaches, onions, tomatoes, apples, vinegar, sugar, pickling spices. Its amazing! It was meant for meat pie, but its so good! I would use it like jam on my morning toast! It made Grandma laugh❤
Your sauce reminded me of Sarah's picante sauce over at Living Traditions. I could not imagine canning in that kind of heat. I watch Meg, Ben, and the family. I admire you and Meg immensely. You both get so much done for your families. Your cherry jam and jelly are beautiful. I am convinced that I need to purchase a freeze dryer. I am having shoulder issues and canning is a bit harder than it used to be. I also like the idea of freeze drying leftovers. Thanks so much for sharing and inspiring me to keep on putting as much as I can in my pantry. God bless you and your beautiful family!
I enjoy your hard working videos so much. Your challenge has provided me with so many hours of inspiration from so many different sources that I didn't know before. I've met lovely women that share so much and I'm a happier person so thank you!
This week was tmatoes, green beans, red raspberry freezer jam, black beans and garlic for storage. West of you in Northern Indiana and we took it easy a couple days due to heat and humidity. Too hot for senior citizens to be working very hard.
You showed where your wall had your canning jars in the kitchen. WOW, you now have more space. Just wondering what you will utilize that space for? I have a crawl space I can't use and a small house. So I go vertical for storage. My peppers did great this year too. Cucumbers didn't do good. Have a blessed day.
I am hoping to eventually find an antique mercantile cabinet for that wall. The shelving and cabinetry could hold a lot of kitchen appliances and other clutter currently on my counters. I would love to have my kitchen area (the other side by the sink and fridge) be less cluttered.
Congratulations Jessica!! I noticed that your channel has reached over the 100K!!!🎉🎉 Thank you for sharing your creative recipes and beautiful family with us! God bless you always!
I need to find a cool place for onions and garlic too. I don't have much but for us here in the south, it is getting close to plant garlic and onions. I'm looking forward to doing this. We had the coldest hard late freeze last Spring, and our trees were full of blooms. We have 4 different apples, 2 different plums, 4 cherry trees, 6 peach trees, 2 pear trees, 2 pomegranate bushes, and 2 other bushes that I can't recall the name. All of these loss their blossoms. The elders, black berries and goji berries were fine. But I so much enjoyed this video. I love your juice, jams and jellies videos. To me they are NOT redundant. Great garlic and onion harvest! We are also increasing the planting of these soon. Your cellar is looking great, with all that food. Many, many *hugs* to all.
Great food preservation. Here in Louisiana, the Summer crops are basically done. No rain for many weeks. Wildfires are burning. So scary. I am almost finished canning. Still have Pinto beans to can then I am getting the blueberries and cherries out of the freezer to make jam. Lastly apple butter and then it's on to Fall cleanup, topping off home supplies and waiting for my last massive Azure order of the year. I am ready for Fall/Winter/relaxing and holidays!
I think an interesting video for this winter is using these freeze dried items. We see you use your frozen and canned goods a lot but I don't know if I've ever seen you open a Mylar bag and use that food.
Love, love, love your videos! i have canned, dehydrated, or have frozen something everyday in August. You are a great motivator! Today is 27th and I have 5 more days. Take care
It is great seeing the cellar come together. What a wonderful space. ❤ If you are looking for ideas for all the tiny tomatoes, fermented bruchetta is incredible. I have a vid on how to make it on our channel that can help if you haven't done it before. Might be handy for the family members who dont prefer them fresh.
I am so sad. I pitted about 30 pounds of Cherries and out them in the freezer until I can either freeze dry them or make jam. I didn't realize to boil the pits for jelly. I thought the pits were poisonous and threw them all away. Because of you, i learned something new. You keep teaching me how to use everything. Thank you.
Yesterday, I woke up excited to watch your video. Then I realized it was Saturday! 😅 Another great video! Looking forward to seeing what you do with all those pears! 💚
Hi Jessica, I just wanted to say thank you for your videos! Your calming voice, caring nature, and work ethic remind me of my grandmother who I lost when I was 10 years old. She was my best friend and role model I miss her dearly.
Most of our harvest is just at it's peak (Western Washington). I spent yesterday harvesting corn, leeks, and zucchini. Great idea with the cherry pits. I tend to eo that with peach pits. Seeing you use pectin and sugar made me want to suggest a recipe. It isn't mine. Google "Choose Your Own Stone Fruit Jam". There's also a berry one. No pectin. Sugar, lemon (+ peel), and fruit. The ration of fruit to sugar is similar to 1lb fruit/1 cup sugar. I've used the stone fruit one for cherry, plum, apricot, pluot, and peach. All good. 😊
Exciting to see the addition of the onions and garlic hanging. I love that idea of the mesh bags, I currently have been keeping in boxes and the possibility of missing one going bad is high. Always enjoy your videos, stay cool.
I love all your preservation and once again learned something new I would not have thought of making jelly from the Cherry pits, way to go on using everything that is a wonderful idea. Blessings and hope you have a good week. Now I'm off to Can up 8 pounds of Chicken breast. Anna In Ohio
Thank you! I am processing peaches today and had a bowl of the peels waiting till rain stops so I can take out to the chickens. Then I started watching this video and I was like, "head smack" peach peel jelly!! You’re my Meg. Lol.
Did you ever try spaghetti pie with leftover pasta? You add in eggs and breadcrumbs, then bake in a casserole dish or pie plates. Slice and serve for lunch or as a dinner side. Love your videos.
You need to order yourself a Victorio Steam Canner. So much easier than heating up a gigantic water bath canner. I finally got one last month and have been using it almost every day for the past week.
Love the peach -tomato sauce recipe! Another easy & delicious recipe for grape tomatoes - saute garlic, grape tomatoes and spinach in olive oil until just tender. Add white wine or chicken stock. Pour over gf pasta and top with grilled, marinated chicken and fresh basil.
You definitely have done a great job of preserving your harvest. So happy that you are able to use the cellar know you have been waiting a very long time. Jelly and jam looks delicious. Thank you for sharing
Hello Miss Jessica. Such a wonderful, inspiring, encouraging video. My big takeaway from this video was how much you adore your family. You are a wonderful momma. Have a glorious day. -K
Wow! You've been busy!!! I used to live in south central Ohio. Moved to Puerto Rico 3 years ago because those cold winter's and not being able to grow anything. I just bought my house here. And planted tomatoes and peppers yesterday. Started corn last week. I love the peach sauce idea!! Looking forward to seeing how this turns out.
I canned some Burbank Russet potatoes and made them into fries. They were fantastic. But one quart is only enough for three people. I drained them on some paper towels, let them dry out for a few hours and then fried them up. Better than most fries I have had; way better than frozen. I made some that were flavored too...salt and vinegar etc. Good stuff.
Is another great video. a lot of work. But being you cannot have butter. Do what you got to do. How is baby Hannah doing?. I You have such great help. Looking forward to the cold room. God bless your family. And keep safe.
Dear Jessica, I am watching your videos in Sweden and I get so much inspiration out of them. I have a babyboy just one month younger than Hanna and two girls, 2 and 4 years old. I am really looking forward the pear recipes as we are into pear season as well. God bless you and your family! Barbara
I just have to say, Jessica, you are by far the best teacher online. You are thorough, organized, and your thought processes are concise. You also follow through on links in your video descriptions when so many channels forget.
Sitting here drinking coffee and I was watching this video. My husband just commented on how thoroughly she explained what she was doing and why.
Definitely agree!
Agreed
When you were hanging the onions in the cellar, I got so excited for you! I know you've been looking forward to that cellar for a long time. I loved the overhead shot of you packing the onions and garlic!
Have you're husband look into mini split heat pumps (air conditioner). They cost much less than central air and can be installed yourself. They're more efficient than window units too!
I like your idea of packaging portion amounts so your children can pick and choose which meal they want to eat.
Another way you can preserve your cherry tomatoes is to roast them in the oven, put in a jar and cover with olive oil and keep in the fridge. I also add garlic cloves for extra flavor and they will store for a year and retain all of their flavor. Great for adding to pizza and other recipes.
Great idea!!
Screenshooting and Saving This great idea.. Thanks last week I started a garlic honey ferment ❤
Thank you ❤️
I love Mrs. Lori and Mr. Brown as well❤
I'm regretting all the cherry pits I tossed. I won't make that mistake again! Beautiful cherry jam and jelly. I love seeing hanging onions and garlic it must be so satisfying to go down to the cellar and see all of your hardwork manifested into nourishment for your family. Thank you for another great video.
I stand amazed watching and learning from you, that you can use every part of a fruit or vegetable to preserve. Love your channel.

Wow! You're still going hard at preserving! Love to watch how nothing goes to waste in your home.❤

Thank you for sharing. Blessings
You are so welcome

You always make canning look so simple. I feel like such a bumbling idiot sometimes when I’m canning. 🤣 Love your videos 😊
You are really a one of a kind woman Jessica, amazing to watch your knowledge to preserve fruits and veggies and left over meat
I live in south central Kentucky. I really do not have a green thumb, but I am fascinated by all of the canning and gardening things. I am trying a few new things, but am taking it very slow. Thanks for all of the great inspiration! 😊

🫠 I just melt watching all that food being canned up!!! Thank you for sharing and God's blessing over you and your beautiful family 🙏❤️

Good morning 🙏😊. And thank you for another great video!
This has been a great year for peppers and tomatoes! And you have given me some more ideas for what to do with them!

I knew I saved those stretchy bags for a reason other than mushroom foraging. I like your thinkin' !
Everything looks great. I have those same little netted bags that I bought on Amazon as well but I’m going to use them to hold up my melons in the garden.

I love those plastic bags we, use them to store potatoes and pepers as well. You can use some plastic tube to gude the product in the bags.
It is great seeing the cellar come together. What a wonderful space. ❤
If you are looking for ideas for all the tiny tomatoes, fermented bruchetta is incredible.
Thank you.
Thanks for sharing! Blessings ❤
I will be sure to run some soapy water in my food processor after processing garlic. Great idea! Thank you, Jessica.
Yesterday, I woke up excited to watch your video. Then I realized it was Saturday! 😅
Another great video!
Jessica you are an example of perseverance to all of us. Love seeing your beautiful accomplishments. Well done!!
Such a good idea to use cherry tomatoes!
Love your channel, Jessica. I look forward to your Sunday video! 👌❤️🌸🌼♥️🌹
Those peppers are beautiful, canning is so colorful, make the pantry look so nice.
Love your channel!
I love all your preservation and once again learned something new I would not have thought of making jelly from the Cherry pits, way to go on using everything that is a wonderful idea. Blessings and hope you have a good week. Now I'm off to Can up 8 pounds of Chicken breast. Anna In Ohio
Heard about you from Living Traditions Homestead. LOVING YOUR VIDEOS! subscribed
Thank you! I am processing peaches today and had a bowl of the peels waiting till rain stops so I can take out to the chickens. Then I started watching this video and I was like, "head smack" peach peel jelly!! You’re my Meg. Lol.
Thank you, I'm very much blessed by watching you! Have a good week, and be blessed, you too❤
Thank you for another great video. I love seeing how you care for your family.
My family enjoys both jam and jelly but prefers the jams because they spread smoother and quicker.
You have a very good harvest.
Very nice!💖💖
You definitely have done a great job of preserving your harvest. So happy that you are able to use the cellar know you have been waiting a very long time. Jelly and jam looks delicious. Thank you for sharing
Thank you very interesting and it nice see that you can put different thing in hot sauce, have a great day . x
Hello Miss Jessica. Such a wonderful, inspiring, encouraging video. My big takeaway from this video was how much you adore your family. You are a wonderful momma.
Have a glorious day.

Jessica you are truly a Woman of Substance🙏blessings always
Love your videos. my mother would only use sugar to make jams and store it outside without water bathing it she would just put some oil on top.
I like the way you use up everything and eat what you make canning I'm learning from you
Dear Jessica,
I am watching your videos in Sweden and I get so much inspiration out of them. I have a babyboy just one month younger than Hanna and two girls, 2 and 4 years old.
I am really looking forward the pear recipes as we are into pear season as well.
God bless you and your family!
Barbara
I’m so excited! My For Jars lids arrived today!
