Hello i tried using this method, meaning weight the cement dry and than add water , done 2 days ago and kept inside the mod with plastic all around but it is way off I wanted to make 7.5kg dumbbell and each side had 800gr of "rebar" so i weighted 2.9kg of dry cement, water mixed everything bla bla today i weighted the first half of the dumbell and got 4.65kg instead of 3.8kg , (2.9kg dry cement + 0.1kg tube + 0.8kg rebar) So that is like 800gr of water weight, will it evaporate all? I mean yeah it is still wet but 800gr of water i dont know thank you!
Let it cure and dry out fully. Then you can sand down the edges to get it down to the exact weight you want. Also take into account the weight of the handle and anchors you are using.
You can make a form that large enough to hold that much concrete. But it’s going to be very large and very awkward to lift with. I am presently working on a mold that can do that heavy, but I’m trying to make it as “not awkward” as possible with the shape.
@@stixandstone what are some options we could throw into the concrete to increase the load with the current mold? Do you think it'd be possible to add in enough to get to 75lbs at least?
@@stevengrindstaff it’s definitely possible. You can add lead shot (like what is in shotgun shells) to each side to get up to about that weight. I’ve added old broken wheel weights I got for free from a local tire shop into my atlas stones to do the same thing. It may be worth a try to do the wheel weights for a cheap alternative to the lead shot.
I have plans to snag some bags of lead bird shot from the sporting goods store to try just that. I’ve added steel and lead to atlas stones so it should be the same process. Update to come later.
I wish there was a way to make that better in my end. You could go in with some friends on the total cost and make it cheaper for each of you to make your own. Or you could make a bunch on plates and make a profit to get your money back plus some extra cash.

Would it be possible to glue in a 1” pipe pre pour for db weights for adjustable db plates
For sure. You can make a ton of 5lbs and 10lbs dB heads to make an adjustable/loadable dumbbell.
Are there plans for larger dumbbell molds going to 100 or 120 for heavier bentover rows or presses?
Working on a size and shape that isn’t absolutely ridiculous and awkward to use lol. But yes it’s in the works.

How can we make these in larger poundages? I'd like to get 5lb increments from 55 to 100. Is this possible?

This mold only holds enough concrete to make 50lbs dumbbells. But you can add scrap steel and/or lead shot to make heavier dumbbells to an extent.
