I live in a small town in NJ and we are being forced to put in low income housing in town, which is forcing out businesses to make the space for the building. We arent super rich like the beverly hills people, and it is not going to stop. The state threatenesd to sue our town if we dont build
I left Middlesex county over 20 years ago to Pennsylvania. Taxes, government interference, regulations and home prices were high then. I still can’t figure out why companies continue to move into and open and operate in New Jersey. Mind boggling.

This is so stupid, I use to live in California, LA County, there’s a lot of places for low income people to live around Beverly Hills. I didn’t live in Beverly Hills, I would go more as a tourist to check things out and the last thing I want to see is low income housing that I can see in every other city in LA County.

You probably don't want to overstep your legal authority with wealthy homeowners. This will be a very winnable suit, and they have the time and means to bring it. That being said, the term "renovation" has to be reasonably defined. In my area, a developer can leave just ONE basement wall intact of the original structure, rebuild the rest, and it is still considered a "remodel or renovation".

this guy is talking around the issue. he is propagating the image that BH would like to present to the world, but it is largely a facade, as you can see when you watch the videos on urban channels showing closed storefronts and for-lease signs.
This is not a BH issue, tho. The judge is trying to enforce a statewide law that requires municipalities across the state to provide a certain level of affordable housing when they permit new construction.
In most cases that means that an apartment or condo building has to offer a percentage of their units at below-market rates to income-qualified buyers and residents.
BH and other moneyed enclaves thought they are going to be smart and designated the pool houses, ADUs and the quarters for the domestic staff as 'affordable housing'. The judge wasn't having it.
