Looks completely amazing as always! I will say though, I personally greatly prefer the Sons done up in the lighter mint-jade colour as it stands out better and looks more unique, and looks really snazzy alongside the black detailing of the uniform.
Great video, I love watching your stuff, and listening to you talk while doing my own projects. Sadly, your 'Eavy Metal disclaimer reminds me how much I miss when the 'Eavy Metal team did more than just paint models for GW. They used to always have an article in WD on how to paint minis detailing their process and methods vs. the beginner level paint by number articles you get now.
Yeah, I didn't think twice about the video or the script but a friend in the EM team told me to make it clear just in case they could potentially get into trouble. Which of you think about it, means my recipe must be as close to the real one as possible.
I loved the heavy contrast videos, especially on the chaos space marines. Would love to see your take on more 30k paint schemes like this one, for the other legions.
Your videos make tutorials seem so possible that it gives me and othes confidence to try... but this one was so wild and deep on its subtle colours and shading to matc hthe Eavy Metal that at some point I think my mind just gave up imagining doing it myself haha. Goals to shoot for in future once I'm done with my learning points I'm still on!
Looking at that thin edge highlight and... this looks amazing! What brush you used for this? By your advice I got my self Rosemary 2,3 and 4 (by the way - amazing brushes! Love them!) But I'm not sure that 2 will be ok for that. Please, master, teach me the way of your brush! Is it just my hands or indeed I would need smaller brush for it?) Also, this is an amazing video! Not going to pain Sons of Horus, but watching when master is working and doing it perfect with very clear comments is just... marvelous!
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures OMG! You are the master! Thank you for being some kind and share your knowledge. I have so much more to learn! 😁 Really. Awesome paint job. You're my favorite UA-camr for the mini paint) Just love your videos!
This was so informative! I’ve been wanting to use Sons of Horus for a green color scheme for a while now, and this was a great reference on what other paints work well with it
If you ever decide to do this for all the legions much in the same way you do your 'eavy contrast series you'd become the premier painting UA-cam channel istg. This is awesome mate
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures haha yeah I did notice that! Very nice job anyway, great to see you try and conquer a new style. Mission successful I would say!
Juan its great that youre moving into 'regular' eavy style. i think everyone has seen how to paint arstartes legs in high detail hundreds of times. you could really differentiate your vids by focusing on a different area with more challenging geometry per video. E.G. heresy death guard could give people better understanding of arms, another chapter on mid sections and backpacks for another etc
It's not a bad idea, the issue is legs are just so convenient 😂 I actually painted the whole model as you see (mostly) but the other footage just wasn't as good or clear
This is absolutely fantastic, thank you for sharing. I’m looking at starting a sons of Horus army and I am going to try and apply this method. I wonder if you would be kind enough to show how to apply this technique to a vehicle? Keep up the great work, and thanks again
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures oh crap, haha. I just assumed you learned from your trip to england a few months back. Well arent i the fool haha. On the other foot though, you nailed the colours. Well done :) i look forward to more as usual!
Loved your video on the SoH pallet. Thanks it makes it achievable. BTW what was the background music it's what I'd want to play when painting something like this. 👌
Juan! Qué colores usaste para el resto de la mini si se puede saber? En concreto para iluminar las partes negras, para los ojos y para el bólter (especialmente para las partes metálicas de la mini).
Awesome work as always. Love the ‘eavy metal style but you’re not wrong about it being quite time consuming! I’m currently trying to paint a Genestealer cult army as close to the box art as my unsteady hands will allow and quickly realising it’s gonna take me forever! 😅
I use almost exclusively a Rosemary and Co series 33 size 3 but I also have a size 2 and 4 handy. I encourage you to get used to doing tiny details using a large brush, that will help you develop brush control
That's literally the exact same recipe as the official Eavy Metal paintjobs. If they say it's good enough for 30k, then it's good enough for 30k in my book
@@JuanHidalgoMiniatures I wouldn’t argue with that not taking away from your paint style it’s def amazing and very technical just being a horus heresy player their armor would never be clean
I personally just copy the official paintjobs, so I guess your complaint is with GW themselves 😂 Also weathering is always something you can build onto anything, so consider this a canvas for the final effects
That's your opinion and it's a valid one but it's not mine. I personally love the Eavy Metal style myself, I get it's not realistic but it's not meant to be.

This is awesome Juan, you did an amazing job of representing the 'Eavy Metal style.
Thanks mate, means a lot coming from you in particular!
That marine turned out awesome. I also feel a mix of massive respect and pity for the 'eavy metal team :)
Yeah me too, each time I do a truly EM marine I feel for them

Yeah, the guys at the Cult of Paint did a version that's like that in case you want to take a look
I read this recipe a few months ago and didn’t believe it was what was behind the box art, but seeing you do it in front of me proves it!
Happy to help 😘
Incredible! The soft shading and volumetric highlights on this guy look stunning.

could you do this again- but with Necron blades?
I have been DYING to find out the recipe for those blades and its driving me mad.
Already did! Its My video on Necron Blades
How do you make glazes that easy? Do you have a guide for making any paint into a glaze consistency? You’re the best! Thanks!
No guides or recipes for that, each paint is slightly different and you need to learn how to get there by feel.

What colurs from VMC would You suggest as substitites for those from Citadel? I really like those sea green tones.
