Cheers Ketut Wintara...It's got a few more years to go before those primary and secondary branches thicken up a bit..but, I think it's well on the way now. 🙏 👍 Thanks for watching and commenting !
Cheers Angry....I only have 2 maples, this one and a Shohin trident maple root over rock. Looking at the thumbnail pic, I still need to wire some of the lower branches down a bit. This was chopped back really hard about 3/4 years ago with the aim of "building a new top on it". And there is the trick I suppose...we can grow branches in few years but trunks take a while to get to where we want them to be for bonsai projects. This trunk is about 25/30 yrs old, it was grown in a pot on the patio for all that time and was around 6 ft tall before the chop. Bring on the broom style ! Thanks for getting involved...
Thank you Ju..missed this comment notification..sorry lady ! I love maples but only have few.. A Japanese maple and a trident maple. Great colours in Autumn and Spring .....See ya soon !
Handsome tree ....😁.....🍀🐈....what’s his name .....so just been reading an article suggesting we start taking a few cups of pine needle tea a day to promote an even healthier immune system...👍🧐🧐😁
Hi Alex, This is not usually a problem..it's mainly leaf stems as opposed to branches being cut. A gentle prune this time of year keeps shape of the tree and actually induces more growth. While it's more likely to run during the fall and early winter, it can run at any time of year. The pruned areas won't heal as quickly if the sap is flowing freely, which is why many arborists recommend waiting until the late spring or summer when the sap is least likely to run before pruning. Big branch selection and removal would normaly take place in the Winter months when we can see the branch structure on the Maple. NO real big chops left to do on this tree now, just refinement of the branches and wiring over the nexy few years. Thanks for watching/commenting.
@@templeartsbonsai hi! Thank you for such a detailed reply. Apologies for jumping straight in with a question. I've really enjoyed watching your videos and learning more about your trees. This maple is a beauty! This is my third spring in bonsai and I feel like I'm getting the hang of things now but often get mixed information online so I like to get other people's thoughts and experiences.
@@AlexBraunton No worries...each and every person has got their own methods/ ways..but there does seem to be some general rules to follow with each species of tree. If your into your third Spring with bonsai now that's a good sign...I think if we can keep a tree alive through all four seasons for one year...then it can be done for many years to come. It just gets down to species specifics and requirements after that.. Cheers..happy bonsai'ing !
Japanese maple, beautiful bonsai tree with great skill 🌳👍
