I have 5 of these Earthway seeders with alot of extra plates that are modified with package tape for better spacing and I also ordered a fertilizer hopper way back, maybe in the 1980's. It being plastic ended up getting cracks which I fixed plastic welding or duck tape. It finally give up a few years back. I got to looking on Ebay and found a new but old stock, only one listed, I bought it quick, now I am very gentle with my new one and keep it in storage when not using. I Love it! I mainly side dress with it as fast as I want to walk. I wish everyone had one.
Make sure the belt is fresh and tight. If you can stretch it by hand it’s shot. The seeds will not pick up and drop at regularly spaced intervals if it is not tight enough. This is particularly true for the older units you may find at yard sales etc. in fact it’s the most common reason they get sold. I buy the every time I see one for sale. Every single part of an earthway is available to purchase. I have an Amish ag supply dealer nearby who stocks the most commonly needed ones also
Twice have had an insect build a nest in the seed tube blocking seed flow. A small 3/4" bottle brush will quickly clear the tube. Now I always run the brush just in case. Thank you for sharing your experience.
This is just the info I was looking for. Used the radish plate for arugula and had to do a lot of thinning😂. Got a broccoli plate on the way but lehmans is taking awhile.
I like your video. Yo do a very good job. I like your stile to explain - very good for me. I like to by a 1 row seeder, but I have not got to my conclusion yet. Carrots is what I need to seed. My oldes girl eat between ½ and 1 kg pr day!!!
Hi i would like to grow corn and sun fluwer, the smallest space i would need for each seed is about 6 inches, is the earthway good for that crops or should i need the jang seeder? Thankyou in advance.
Just ordered the earthway, I was considering the jp as I am farming a few acres but the season is starting out and my budget is tight right now. Planning on seeding my early crops wed-thursday next week like snap peas. How deep for those 1 inch?
If you are referring to the low tunnels, then they are 1/2" EMT you can get from any hardware store. Here's my video on it, ua-cam.com/video/LwS1I_9nlAc/v-deo.html
@@NaturesAlwaysRight Perfect, I watched that video a month ago but forgot about it, have watched almost everything you have so I can plan properly for a fall garden. Thank you so much again for all you do!
We're all gonna die ! I don't believe any of these climate Loons. First it's another ice age when I was a child in the 70s. Then acid rain, then hole in the ozone is going to kill us all. Then global warming and when they were confronted with the facts they changed the name to climate change. This grand solar nonsense will be another Y2K and Maya calendar event.
@@NaturesAlwaysRight Thanks for the response. I've tried. I've also tried the online DIY fix to keep the plate tighter. I'll probably get the jang next spring.
Sorry. I DISAGREE!!!!! This seeder sucks. Don't buy it. I tried to plant okra yesterday and the seed kept wedging behind the plastic seed metering wheel. It kept jamming. I just used a wheel hoe to dig a furrow and dropped it in manually. I am going to find a much better seeder with a good metering device. Save your money. It is simply plastic junk

I just started using my Grandma's old Earthway and I'm loving it. It's got to be around 40 years old and still going strong. Thanks for the tips!
Oh wow 40 years that's a new record!

My wife just got one. She can’t wait to try it ! Thank you
Thank you. I watched a bunch of videos. The Jang seems way better, ...but, right now, the Earthway will work. Thank you, again.
Yes I think that's the right way to think about it. Still use my earthway
I think I’m going to get this for my wife’s birthday. Thanks for the explanation of the tool. 🌈😃🤙

Dont know how this video only has 6k views... this seeder is the next step going from hobby farm to business owner
Using my moms old Earthway. She had a Veggie stand when we were kids. I'm 50 now so they last forever.
Perfect timing! Just got my Earthway !
Sweet hope you enjoy it!
I was looking at this recently. It looks pretty amazing.
It's a great seeder at a great price

I love the lettuce plate for arugula for my salad mixes. I put a little cheat sheet for what I use in the description.

3/4" - 1" 🙂
How do you figure out what disks to use? We want to plant radishes and peas and carrots. We don’t see a disk that can be used for those seeds.
Have you tryed onion?? If yes what plate will you recomand. Have just got a Earthway
I'd use the lettuce plate
What is purchase process
Off subject - but where to you buy the hoops for the caterpillar tunnels or do you make your own? Enjoyed this video, thank you!

What about pre-soaked or 'chitted' seeds to speed up the germination/sprout time?
Use a cheap paint brush to get any seeds out or dislodged. I use a paintbrush to dush fans or other things like computer keyboard. Just a thought.
Thanks for this tutorial.
How much it’s price bro? I'm From Bangladesh desh if we could buy this machin hear!
Thank you
good work. Keep it up.
Current price this seeder
Can we get an egg harvest video? Maybe about marketing too, where is the best place to buy cartons? What is a reasonable price to sell eggs locally?
I'll have to do that on my new property when I get chickens again. Thanks for the idea.
New sub here. Good info. Thanks.
Thanks for the sub!
Also pumpkins
I can't find the "cheat sheet" you mentioned.
Thanks I forgot to add it. It's there now.

@@richstone2627 ya it's all nonsense man I agree.
I’ve had mine for about a year and it seams to break my pelleted seeds in half when planting
It's best for raw seed. I only ever use raw seed in mine.
Listening but getting distracted by the birds😂
I'm about to throw my earthway in the trash. I think I probably got a defective one. It shreds my seeds in half and does a terrible job in general.
Make sure the hopper is super clean, nothing is behind the plate, and the seed plate is super tight on there.
