So basicaly the cycle is like some sonic fan complains another complains about them complaining and then someone else complains about them complaining
Couldn't have said it better 😂
@@shadowfoxx5153 I hoped no one would complain till the game comes out. I mean after first trailer i was worried but after showcase of first stage i can hope that shadow generations isn't only 3 levels. That's it.
@@ernestpazdro9691but complaining can help the game as Sega is listening to the problems like the animation
BUT COMPLAINING IS GOOD FOR THE GAME
BECAUSE THEY CAN STILL FIX THE ISSUES
@@SoulKnight-e6z Yeah i know but at the time i didn't have information
For anyone who wonders why these games have a yellow filter over them, it’s because blue light is bad for your eyes and yellow is on the opposite side of the color wheel. Blue light glasses have yellow lenses for the same reason.
Oh thats why?
I don't really think that's why Sonic Team did that, HOWEVER you're very correct about the blue light
okay but i can't see the yellow filter people are talking about, it just looks slightly brighter to me
@@thatsneakydude5316 I barely see it either, which is why I believe that complaining about it is extremely nitpicky
The thing is, people said that the game looked better IRL. When I replayed Fedel’s gameplay, it looked a lot more vibrant. It might be bc of the Oled Pannel, but when I noticed the coloring, they pretty much matched with all the non piss filter version. It looked less dull compared to the actual digital version. It might be bc of the camera he’s using, but IF this was shot on an iPhone(which tries to be as realistic as possible going for less saturated colors unlike for example Samsung) than that would mean that the piss filter isn’t on the actual copies and only on the videos and screenshots given to us.
Ima be honest I didn't even notice there was a filter to begin with nor does it even bother me. The fact people are mentioning how "bolts" look when you're going to be speeding past most of the environment any way is kind of funny. I do understand though why people want stages to look a certain way, to make sure that the game can look as best it can, but I doubt any of this is going to get fixed in the grand scheme of things but who knows.
I feel like the white lighting on shadow is kinda supposed to replicate how when you look at black fur on like dogs and stuff it’s got kinda a white reflective glow
It isn’t executed super well but I see what they’re going for
that "weird white outline" is called rim lighting,
This isn't really a problem exclusive to Shadow Generations, a lot of remasters and such do this. They make everything overly shiny and reflective, even things that shouldn't be, just for the sake of making it look more "modern" and "up to current graphics". Artstyle be damned, we gotta make sure people know we're using current gen graphics!
Shadow Generations isn't part of the remaster, it's a whole new game on a completely different engine.
They were trying to express that beyond this game, tons of remakes and remasters have the same issues. You missed the point.@Unleash_YT
I feel like some of these complaints are a bit stupid, like those wall textures being “low quality” bc you’re not really gonna notice if a texture isn’t 4k ultra HD when you’re blasting past it (just like regular generations)
And about the “piss filter”
I mean it could be Need for Speed: most wanted levels of piss, but it’s not too bad in shadow gens, I can see why they would add it.
These low textures are needed for the game to run well, it's quite an easy optimization.
@@rehaansiddiqie exactly, just because the consoles are more powerful now doesn’t mean we shouldn’t optimize the games.
@@tacobelldumpster1538 many people don't know the word "optimize" in today's world and I get a bit mad about that. Hell, Sonic Team with Frontiers don't know that, but now they luckily do. There seems to be a Team A and Team B involved, so I hope Team B's technical prowess and Team A's large amount of staff can merge together to make an awesome Sonic game that's technically sound.
Yeah you’re definitely not gonna notice the textures when going fast but the only texture related thing that they should change are those arrows in bullet station facing the wrong way. You might be able to notice them even at high speeds.
so your willing to let SEGA cheep you out?
were complaining to make the game better not to ruin it!
Oh boy can’t wait to see our lovely sonic fanboys I’m excited
don't count your chickens before they hatch buster booboo.
The main thing I’m worried about with the piss filter in mind is that Sonic Team might hear this critique and think of an exaggerated way to fix it that would make it look worse (think about Sonic Frontiers: The Final Horizon), hopefully that doesn’t happen.
Unleash, I love you, but SO many of the nitpicks you agree with is straight bullshit and would NOT matter at all.
4:02. No had a problem till one person says it. And then boom, chain reaction. And then watch the yellow filter get removed and everyone is happy. And then boom, another argument and it’s a continuous loop.
Exactly
@@YourMidTierLava-zk2rk nitpicking every little detail 😭
Everyone's fixated on the yellow filter rather than how gorgeous the level still looks despite it
There's always that ONE PERSON that has to start fuckin' up the hype train. Despite the last 2 to 4 years bein' the best that Sonic fans have eaten in well over a decade, there's still complaints about the pettiest things possible. I wonder what's next, maybe The Biolizard has too many teeth .
@@secluded78once every detail that is nit-picked would be fixed, the game would be one beautiful, polished product. Just like every damn Nintendo game. I would like to see Sonic reach that level of polish, and they're getting real close with Shadow Generations.
You do know that your tv can literally fix these issues that you guys keep complaining about, so stop making stupid arguments about the visuals it really is damn annoying at this point
@@richardwood2001 THANK YOU
People really get magnifying glasses out and put over every trailer in order o have SOMETHING to create their “content” over.
Well just like unleash said in the video, it could be a death by 1000 paper cuts. I kinda agree that making content about it is kinda bad but unleash has a pretty big platform here so he could help fix these problems if enough people see this.
@@FriesGuyy hes wasting his time with these nothing burger videos, he should just admit the true purpose of them. Views
@@johnmehlman5195 I mean, that’s pretty obvious, MONEY
Sonic fans are really something.
We are allowed to nitpick
@@maryhindson2792Nah, what Crash Bandicoot fans did during the N. Sane Trilogy 7 years ago was nitpicking, this is so far BEYOND nitpicking that it deserves an entirely new word
Sonic fan this, Sonic fan that, you do know that your complaining about it only adds to confusion and make it harder for game companies to know what to do or what to change. It’s a small thing, we’re not asking for a whole different game here, because the game looks fantastic so far, we just want the game to better represent its references and inspiration from the games of origin.
@@maryhindson2792this ain’t nitpicking. This is bitching
@@autistichades5552 There's no need to change it. Literally NOBODY even noticed it to this degree until one person pointed it out, now all of a sudden it's an issue. This makes the Forces level design complaint look valid as hell in comparison, & IT was dumb too. It'd be different if it had an effect on the gameplay but it doesn't. This holds NO significance compared to any REAL issue the game may face, if anything all people have to do is slightly change the tint in their TV settings
SEGA will fix it, if you haven’t noticed by now, SEGA did fix shadow’s quill animation when he moves in the generations of stages video, and it reacts to his hand movements now, be a little more loud, and they will fix the filter, however to change the textures might be a bit too much considering how close we are to release.
It’s just the way the capture card works, in recorded footage from people testing the game the colors are way more vibrant
There's a massive difference between a capture card and recording a TV Screen with a camera.
TV colors are different bro, i played frontiers on both my monitor and tv, the game looks way vibrant and bluish on tv with all display settings set as neutral as possible. But i cannot use tv for my work because the color gradient all messed, even if i use standard tv icc color profile
You will never enjoy the good if you only look for the bad.
I'm already enjoying the good
@@Unleash_YT then stop bitching about a stupid filter and lying saying its "for the betterment of the game" when it fuckin not, critiques should be saved for big problems like framerate
@johnmehlman5195 Look dude, I don't agree with Unleash's criticisms in this video either, but there's no reason to be hostile
1:41 the piss filter actually helps with the dark areas, cuz they are DARK once you remove the filter, which makes the game unsee-able in some circumstances
@@rehaansiddiqie Exactly, notice P3dro didn't make an edited screenshot of the The Biolizard fight
You really had to make a whole 10 minute video about a piss filter and pass it off as "ruining the game" huh?
This is the same person who got angry at me because I pointed out him glorifying content locked behind subscriptions and other gross stuff like there's nothing wrong with it, the "rabid fan" package can consist of many things both positive and negative, if the return to nostalgia is promised, they shill and call anyone who disagrees a stupid fake fan but as soon as they see one silly little thing that isn't the same they nitpick and call anyone who likes it a fake fan, such childish behaviour
The issue is that this version of Kingdom Valley is more Valley and less Kingdom whilst the old one is more Kingdom and less Valley.
This is clearly using assets from Kronos Island.
The original was also more dreary whilst this one doesn't have that cloudy aura the original had.
We haven’t even seen the whole level yet lol

This the same thing they said before, Forces and Frontiers and I'm getting sick of it.
Wood can be reflective if it’s polished enough. Though this Yellow Filter is a minor fix.
@@YourMidTierLava-zk2rk that’s beside the point, the original was based on the wild west, which doesn’t really have as much polish as SxSG has, it’s a major contrast in tone from the original as well.
@@autistichades5552I guess. Though I think the developers are tryna make look as nice as possible but I still think it’s a small fix

Great job on using your platform pointing out problems with the game to hopefully get changes made! Speaking of problems with the game I’ve been trying to point out how in the VGC HD gameplay at 5:07 before kicking the missile, shadow just disappears. No blue chaos snap effects or anything. (this is less important but) Also when punching the missile before hand there is no easing into each frame, just one into another and it looks a bit jarring. Hopefully if you saw this you could possibly use your larger platform and point this out in a video and help get the ball rolling in discussion to get this small issue resolved. Thank you.
For clarification, the timestamp isn’t for this video. Instead it’s for the VGC HD gameplay
Are you referring to the cartoonish snap of Shadow's punches? Well, it's a QTE, so it would have to be fast paced, and I'm pretty sure it's the intended effect anyway.
@@andraw4002 it may be intended, but it still looks weird. When I showed it to my friends who don’t have any type of attachment to Sonic, they laughed and said it looked choppy and unprofessional. Which looking back at it I agree.
sonic fans really squeezing every second of the trailer to complain about
I really can’t see like a difference like I guess a little but unless you put a before and after like idk which looks better or worse
UPDATE: Don’t laugh but I just got new glasses so I thought I’d re check and like…..
The only real difference is the ARK stage the yellow filter I just don’t car if
Like thats like crazy like bro.
I know there are gonna be comments being like "ugh, this is so stupod, why are you upset iver this??" And i get it. It can certainly be annoying seeing people have opinions over the smallest things but I got my ass handed to me complaining about the violins in the kingdom valley remix because I care...a lot! and want the best of tje best highest quality sonic music you can get.
And i think these people want the same just visually.
Can it be annoying? Absolutely but I think for the most part, they nean well. I respect that no shade or insults were thrown around towards sega just because
Honestly the way sega respondes by fixing up these minute details just proves unleshed’s point.
true
I personally don't really mind the yellow filter, but if there's something that has always bothered me with the post Generations Modern Sonic Games (including Shadow Generations) is the camera animations, ya' know when the camera moves away to help you look at the loop you're going through, and the camera animation looks... Stiff and linear, instead of smooth with easing in and easing out transitions.
Like, when the camera is moving on a mid-level cutscene like the missile QTE, it actually looks smooth and pleasing to look at, while it's just in gameplay it looks so robotic and stiff, without any easing in and out. It wasn't very often with Sonic Gens or even Unleashed because it actually used easing but since Lost World they just... Stopped doing that and they just let the camera move like that. It just looks so boring to look at.
This is NOT that big of a deal. Stop clickbaiting us, bro.
sorry for wanting the game to be as good as possible??? lmao.
Uhhhhh these aren't really issues to me at all, I never would've noticed any of this until it was pointed out. It all looked amazing to me, these are some extremely insignificant nitpicks 😅
Exactly. Everybody was happy, then somewhere along the way someone started pointin' out Gnat sized "problems" & all the dominoes started fallin' 🙄
1:12 i wouldnt say generic sci fi asset pack because they remade a lot of the stuff from the ark like the pathways and doors and the towers in the background are based on the shadow rival fight but they are larger
There is an issue. This game could be the best game of its year and for many years to come! Or we could spend the next decade trying to "fix it" after final release!
What I think SEGA could do to fix this is give us two filter options for Shadow Generations. “Default” (With the P Filter.) “Defined” (Without the P Filter and the colors are more vibrant) That way both the people who like the filter and the people who don’t win.
There’s one Thing every generations fan can agree on. the Homing shot dialogue NEEDS TO GO
ANOTHER nitpick, they don’t need to fix this. Stop nitpicking such minor things for clickbait
Sure, they don’t NEED to fix this but we still want the game to look and feel the best possible, right? So it’s best to fix this even if it’s incredibly minor.
@@FriesGuyy ah yes, because the bolts on the wall in Rail Canyon being 2D matters way more than game breaking bugs, hell, a barely noticeable yellow filter matters more to change than game breaking bugs? its nitpicking and its stupid, the developers know what they are doing, they are game developers, people like Unleash have to stop acting like they know better
@@Spinball2006I haven’t seen any game breaking bugs but those definitely have higher priority than this. But again, we want this game to be as great as possible so might as well fix these issues as well.
@@FriesGuyy that's the thing though, these aren't even issues, you or whoever might say they are issues, but in the grand scheme of it all, it really, REALLY doesn't matter in the slightest
@@Spinball2006Yeah I would say that these are issues but they’re so small that they’re basically insignificant. Even if Sonic Team doesn’t fix them, mods will.
I went to this video to see if this "problem" was a big one and boy was I wrong lol
@@bowtiefries Nope, the "problem" is 'bout as small as a Gnat's brain cell
I disagree with you on the white outline on Shadow because I think it looks cool and they way it changes colour based on surrounding lighting but the "piss filter" I agree with it looks WAY better and I already liked the games visual style. Maybe try tagging Justin (the guy who said there was more than 3 stages) and see if he responds . That would be really great thing to be fixed.
Based on the thumbnail, this would be a video about the fact that the keep reusing the stupid Classic Sonic idle animation on literally everyone for some dumb reason. I'll edit this to say if I was right or wrong.
Edit: I was completely wrong, but they should definitely remove the piss filter and release it as DLC with codes that can only be found by travelling to Walter White's house, since they love region exclusivity so much.
Piss filter is valid, but there is ZERO chance anyone is noticing anything else mid gameplay.
It seems to be a deliberate choice made by Sonic Team/the developer, most likely to give Shadow the Hedgehog's stages a more dark and edgy feeling abd set it apart from the Sonic sections of the game. It was done before in Shadow the Hedgehog (2005). Just look at how much more yellow amd gray the lighting and filters are in that game and how much blum lighting effects or ones similar to that are used, makes it look completely different than Sonic Heroes despite being on the same engine. It may be misguided but I don't think this is a mistake at all. The filter is similar to the one's 6th and 7th console and PC generation games used to create a certain type of atmosphere, like the different city filters in Assassin's Creed 1 or the Assassin's Creed II color filters. It didn't always look good but it is nostalgic.
I'd love to be able to play through Shadow's stages in Sonic X Shadow Generations as Sonic, and then the filter can be removed. I mean we can play as Shadow in Sonic in Sonic Forces, and Tag Team stages too I think. They can just skip over quick time events and level cutscenes if they want. Plus I'm pretty sure Time Break is already a Sonic ability in the original Sonic Generations releases, so that can replace Chaos Control. And Sonic should have the exact same controls as he does in Generations, so he feels different to play as than Shadow in the game.
Even if they don’t remove all these weird graphical things, mods will do it so I’m not too worried but this is gonna be a bit sucky for console players.
@@FriesGuyy Yeah I think I'll be fine
This reminds me so much of Yakuza Kiwami 2 which had a major issue with the green filter all over the game, it was supposed to give the game the same vibe as the original Yakuza 2 but it ended up just making the game look way too GREEEN, its just memed to death now for being so green.
The piss filter didn't bother me much until you showed Kingdom Valley. Good god, the visual difference there is drastic.
i'm wondering if it's a capture card thing that just adjusts the way the lighting looks on video - ive not clocked the "yellow" filter until the trailer and i think in spite of that everything else looks nice
It's never been a problem before, I wouldn't count on it.
I hope that they add an option to smooth the camera movement. I noticed that outside of cutscenes and stuff the camera changes angles and moves without any easing. It kinda looks unnatural and makes me feel ill, so I think maybe a smooth option would make the game look way more fluid and comfortable on the eyes
My brain got so used to seeing the blurry footage from summer game fest that every time I saw the game I just thought to myself “that’s not how the game will ACTUALLY look like” even when I saw clean footage.
It is worthy to note that the game always looked more vibrant when the screen was captured by a camera (could be cuz they were using oled screen) and then when the review channels used the provided capture card footage it looked more dull, it could be the way they’re presenting it idk
I'm not seeing much of a difference between the images with the "yellow filter" and without. It just look like the floor is slightly more light. Then again, I'm not really one who closely analyzes such minor things like this, so perhaps it's just me.
Only problems I see with the game are:
1. It's taking a game about celebrating the past and present of Sonic, and shoehorning in a character who has no classic incarnation.
2. Sega's putting Denuvo in the PC version when the original didn't have it.
I don't like the white outline, but about the piss filter. I don't see much of a difference. Yeah, the game look better without, but it looks SLIGHTLY better, not substantially better. Also, I don't even care about the graphics, if they don't hurt my eye, they are good, and these don't hurt my eye. At least the gameplay will be good, right?
Why do people keep calling this stage Final Rush when it's Final Chase?
@@AnonymousC2218 Because the theme is a remix of Final Rush. We know the influence FC has here with the gravity walls (thankfully someone OVER the age of 5 programmed 'em this time, unlike the trash gravity cylinders in SA2), but why NOT call it Final Rush when it's the better level of the 2
@@themenacingsloth "but why NOT call it Final Rush when it's the better level of the 2"
You just answered you own question, because of the gravity cylinders which is for Final Chase not Final Rush.
Besides there was a remix of final rush in Shadow the hedgehog, thats proberly the reason why they chose that theme for that stage in Shadow Generations.
It may have the theme of Final Rush doesn't mean the stage is Final Rush....
@@AnonymousC2218 You DO know when I said that I meant as in "Eh, Why the hell not" right? Like I said, I'm fully aware of the FC influence, but nonetheless, Final Rush is, & always has been, the name that comes to mind for most people whenever they see an exterior ARK level from Sonic &/or Shadow's past. Even Shadow '05 dismisses Final Chase. The level "The ARK" doesn't just have a remix of the Final Rush theme, it's the same level. It follows & flies over the same path, but of course, most things (including a few rails, tunnels & that chase sequence area) are destroyed following the aftermath of SA2, & there are new additions.
I could really care less. Looks great to my eye balls
Sonic fans when they don’t change the monitor display settings to their liking
Damn now I can’t unsee it. Hope it gets fixed
I hope they remove the weird white outline around Shadow
That's probably because he is a dark (like in appearance) character and they want him to be easily visible at all times during gameplay. But yeah it does look a little weird once you notice it.
I see what you are saying, and that's right.
Sega is trying to make the newest sonic games look more realistic but it doesn't really fits. It looks dull just as you said.
I think the low textures and details in some areas are just an outcome of rushing everything to make it on time.
I seen it in many games, they are rushing to make things fast and in some points it is just some kind of lazyness.
perhaps the team behind editing trailers/game clips is putting a color grade over it?
That’s hedgehog engine 2 for ya. Sonic games have looked washed out since generations wake up
Unleashed also had that piss filter problem so it’s not just he2
@@FriesGuyy gens graphics are dog compared to unleashed on series x
Unleash, remember that the footage they are showing us are an early build, the demo footage is the later build. They already fixed your graphics complaint.
While i understand the want to point out every little thing and categorize such to let the devs know. Treating these nitpicks as bigger than they are and exaggerating them while insulting the work done is not only extremely clickbaity, but i think itll end up backfiring in sone way in the long run. Like this complaining is only gonna make the idea that sonic fans are never happy more and more true to more and more people the more often it happens.
On the argument of the bolts looking flat, yes, there is an excuse, and it's the fact that they're just going to be seen for like a fraction of a second and addding detail to something so unnoticeable it's not worth it. That's game dev for you.
The lighting issue didn't make a huge difference for me. I will say that Final chase looks a little better, but this is a very fixable issue with the time they have. It clearly makes a big difference for some people. I can't really be mad at it. Hopefully, it gets fixed.
And to think, I thought the whole "levels are like Forces design" complaint was asinine. It's still asinine, but feels more validated compared to this
tbh i do notice most of the things that the guy noticed, minus the shiny wood. Part of me wanted to blame the switch lol. I do hope they really consider this feedback, make that $50 more worth it
I didn't really see a problem at first, I thought it was fine. Then when I saw the filter fixed my eyes just opened, it was just like night and day. Idk why they thought that filter was a good idea, except for bullet station
they probably added a filter in post just to not reveal how good the game looks maybe?
just a my headcannon but it may explain it
wood can be reflective, maybe not to the degree in rail canyon but it can be. I would know my floor is a reflective wood
I personally just don’t give af tbh. As long as the game is fun, and not as graphically horrendous as colors ultimate, I’m content.
Unleash. Get ready for the haters.
Ngl everything in shadow gens look shiny lol
Sonic fans are really complaining about every little problem that not many will notice..
When does look better than the other but I think it’s a little overblown for it to be called all kinds of boring and drab and stuff when it ain’t that big of a difference… just popping more than other. But I get it. If they changed it great but this isn’t really something that’s bothering me personally that much.
At first I didn’t like this criticism cause I thought it was just small things people can’t stop complaining about, but then you showed final rush & kingdom valley comparison without the piss filter and now I totally get it. That 1 small change makes the game look 10x better 🎉
