I had the privilege of knowing the guy who designed and built the large Santa displayed in Blacklers. Great guy, who sadly passed away a few years ago.
The ‘Sputnik’ ( as we affectionately called it) the topping of Blacklers magnificent lights display warmed many cold and dreary December nights spectacularly . Does anyone remember the dancing waters grotto? At TJ’s Hughes at the top of London Road now sadly a third world ghetto that resembles Mogadishu these days .
Anyone know the period(s) these photos cover? This Yank was in Liverpool for two weeks leading up to Christmas 1981. Fantastic time! I remember the Salvation Army (?) band playing at the intersection of White Chapel and (__?__). Did a decent job with my first-ever Yard of Ale!
