    Your cat painting is a great success! I have a problem with going over the painting with too much detail and it looks so overworked and the colors get dull and muddy. This tutorial is a great and helps me see what is enough detail without going too far. Thanks so much for this and I hope you paint more cats in the future.

    Sigh - you are such a gifted artist! Even the art you create that "doesn't" have all the details, has all the details. Love your way of teaching, but boy - you have set a high bar! That's ok, we all do what we can and get a little better each day, right? right? Loved your cat paintings and loved the beautiful flower your house guest was walking over!

    Great tutorial. I thought your previous cat was good but I like the way your style has developed and the way you paint now is, to me, more artistic. I think its also harder as you are giving up some degree of control - your results show how worth it it is!

    Your cat paintings are so beautiful, I need to free and loosen up my artwork too. I was too fussy with watercolours and had a kitty who wanted to help me paint pawing my brush thinking the handle was for catching. I ended up using pencils to be more controlled and not as easily spoiled by my art wannabe kitty. What a wonderful result you've achieved using a bigger brush and letting go. I may be tempted to pick up a brush again. The bloopers made me smile too.🥰❤

    Another lovely video, Louise! I loved and so much agree with your sentiment at the end about trusting yourself and your supplies. It's not easy, but I find my work turns out the best when I can let go and let the watercolors do what they want. Thanks for this! Can't wait paint these cats on patreon...I should be just finishing with my zebra by then!

    • @rachelparkervarner
      @rachelparkervarner 4 роки тому

      I find when I let watercolor do its own thing, the painting comes out a lot better than if I try to control it. I'm working on a painting now that's supposed to be for beginners, and have now painted it 7 times. When I just let go and 'played', it came out much more lovely and fresh.

    U do beautiful work...i still felt the grey kitty was a little tight...its lovely ..nothing wrong with it...but its not what i would call lose...i think ur going to find it very hard to let go of control....u are a perfectionist...and it has served u well. I guess we all have to struggle with something. Even u with ur beautiful work. I would humbly suggest that u try a cat without drawing it in pencil first. Just let paint sugest a cat...if u truly want it to b "lose". Either way ur work is fab. 😊 TC REd

    You answered one of my biggest problem. I was wondering why my paint would travel so far and make a hard edge unless I kept wetting the paper- to the point of running right off the edge of my flat watercolor world.
    Too much water on my brush!

    So when you wet a painted area again, how do you avoid it from creating blotches? The kind of blotches that you used on the cat on purpose after the first layer of grey. I'm guessing it's just about the amount of water? Or also if I need to wet the entire area?
