This is one of the best Houdini tutorials I have ever watched please keep up because you made it so much easier to understand. You are better than all I have seen. Thank you.
Haha awesome to hear that! I won't lie, Houdini does take a bit of time to learn. If you wanna purchase multiple courses, please consider subscribing on the website to have access to all courses (and future ones are coming too)
I love this tut, I wanted to do fireballs, anime blasts, flame breath etc. and this tut is all you need to do all of that. You guys can use any free dragon model or dinosaur or human or whatever, you would just blast the two points like hands or roof and bottom of mouth to get it to grow between and blast the spine or neck to get the velocity direction.
Very cool and efficient workflow. I love your system for aligning velocity with the normal direction. Extremely helpful for someone trying to learn more houdini. Thank you!
Your channel is the best in Houdini classes, when I finish reading the Houdini manuals I will buy all your courses but I wanted to see a course where I interact with real people in a video
FX with live footage, that's what I wanted to say like in marvel movies. I found out that they use Houdini a lot I look forward to classes like this, thank you!@@voxyde
I am wildly delighted by your lessons ! Maybe you will make a video once and for all in which show how to put plugins and digital assets in houdini. it is very necessary for beginners .
and I’m not talking about the course, but how to do the assettes. Just show the simple examples how it happens and how to transfer it into a new version of the program. sure that many users ...
Enjoyed the video. I am trying to open the dragon breath .hiplc file but am unable to. I only have the apprentice houdini version, is this why? Would you be able to share another file type such as .abc alternately that i could open?
I always wanted to know this. There's one problem though - IDK the workflow. Like, I animate in Maya, so then I have to export the animation (with lights and everything) to Houdini and render it there, even though textures on my dragon and lights are set for Redshift? Or can I import animation to Houdini, make fire breathing and then reimport back to Maya to render it there? I seriously don't know what I should do here. Can you please give me a tip on this?
Depends on what you're comfortable with. My recommandation would be to just import the animation from maya, then texture, shade, light, FX in Houdini. Or if you want to render in Maya you would export the FX as alembic, vdb or USD from Houdini.
@@voxyde Oh, so it is possible? I honestly thought effects I'd make in houdini would NOT be compatible with Maya. Thank you for letting me know. These are the details I needed to know - about what to do. Alembic, VDB or USD (haven't heard of this one). Any tip which format is the best in terms of simplicity and quality? Or are all the same? Or depends on personal preference?
at 19.15 with visualizer I can t see the burn like a fractal noise, but I can see like a colours dots, how can I saw the burn like in your tutorial at 19.15?
As you say, I think is only a new and better way to look at the noise for the new houdini versions, for me it wasn't to difficult to get used to it but maybe is a way to enable at it was before
One thing that I have to ask... Its better to set up Pyro Sims (and other like RBD for example) in SOP or inside DOP? And about tutorial - Im looking forward for more :D as always straight to the point with deep explanation
If you look inside the SOP versions of all the solvers, inside you'll find a DOPnet, so it's pretty much the same. Only that the SOP versions have a lot of built in stuff that saves you time, it's essentially a preset dop network. Usually I use the SOP versions of the solvers, except the rbd bullet solver (this one I kind of like to set up from scratch)
@@voxyde Ty for answer :D , yeah I noticed that SOP Pyro Solver have DOP Net Inside, I was just curious if there are some diffrences. Looking forward for your courses :D
Amazing, as always! Thank you How do you split your lights for the comp? I had to do it lately and ended up just rendering a lot of of versions, each one a different light. It works, but it can get quite expensive
Hi thank you for a great video! I am studying to be an effect artist and I wanna learn not only Houdini itself but also rendering in Houdini by layers and do some precomp for my demoreel. Does your paid tutorials teach them? I am going through various tutorials but I barely find one with specific render to precomp lecture. I would be happy to hear the answer, thank you
Yes the paid tutorials show the entire work from start to finish. I show you how I render everything (with Redshift) and comp in Nuke. Be mindful that they're more intermediate level and you need a good foundation in Houdini to truly understand and follow along
I'm Brazilian, I've seen many channels and I can say that you are the best in terms of teaching, your tutorials are insane! keep doing this
Olá, meu amigo haha! Awesome to hear that brother, more tutorials are coming!

Nice tut friend! I wonder how did you get the .abc alembic file? in sketchfab is not available this format and also how did you apply the material?
When I imported the fbx in maya i could export it as an alembic !
Wow! Thanks!!
So good mate thanks a lot.
No problem 👍

Hey Voxyde, great tut, crazy techniques. The link for the dragon model is broken. Any other way I can find it?
Look at his site
