- Top Things to do in BELGRADE SERBIA!! Not what you expect! (Belgrade Travel Guide)
Travel Belgrade Serbia and you will be surprised!! When it comes to eastern European destinations, Belgrade often gets ruled out because of its reputation in Hollywood films as being a place for the shadier characters. But that's such a false conception of the truth. From our experience in Belgrade, Serbians were so down to earth and loved to have a good time. From their coffee scene to their nightlife, from their cultural sites to their historical museums, there is a ton to see in this city. This is our Belgrade Travel Guide.

OUR STORY
Hey! We're Olivia and Nathan 👋🏽 A couple from California.
We met back in 2014 in Monterey, California. I (Olivia) was a senior in college & Nathan had recently moved back to the area after living in Italy.
After a few “deep life talks” (ones that were so foreign to me) and hearing about the lifestyle Nathan had been creating for himself for the last 6 years, I wanted to spend more time with him.
We started dating and I learned how he’d moved to Cambodia when he was 17, Germany when he was 18, Italy when he was 20, and was itching to travel again.
I was fascinated and wondered HOW THE HECK DID THIS GUY PAY FOR ALL OF THAT?
Nathan would work in California for 2 years, save every dollar he could, move abroad, find a job in that country, live there for 1-2 years and then do it all over again. Each time, he’d learn the language of that country, acquire new skills & make lifelong friends.
I was deeply inspired & wanted to travel with him. After 1 year of working our butts off and saving every dollar we could, we moved to Australia. We lived + worked there for 3 years (learned to speak perfect Australian lol) & created online jobs so we could continue traveling full-time.
We were traveling South America when covid hit, flew home and bought an RV to travel the US.
Down to earth, entertaining, and informative is our goal - we want you to feel like you’re experiencing the day with us.
Welcome to ON World Travel 🤙🏽
Thanks for watching guys, means a lot to our little channel! Thanks to everyone who made our time in Belgrade so amazing! And out of curiosity, what do you find so special about Belgrade and Serbia in general?
It's the first time i hear about serbs as good gays.
For us it was the Temple of Saint Sava. Seeing it with our own eyes was incredible; inside and out. We really liked learning more about Nikola Tesla as well. Love all the respect and pride the Serbians have for him.

Belgrade is not Serbia, Belgrade is capital city of Serbia country, Serbia is not young country. Stuped no education turists.
Who cares what do you think....tomorrow you will bombarded us again..we dont trust you so fuck off...
Thank you!
Thanks for a great video ! And for showing us in a better light !
Young country haha lol...Serbia is older than America
but is much poorer.so it doesn matter who is older
@@M.Đ-z4u Wow such an intelligent argument, I'am impressed. Guess what, money can''t buy history and culture. Wait, let's say about another 900 years, then the USA will be old as Serbia is now. Of course it is not much likely that the US will exist, maybe it will be part of a greater Mexico, who knows?
@@M.Đ-z4u of course Serbia is poorer then USA. In the last century Serbia defend itself aginst occupation from Turkey, Germany, NATO and many others! If USA had war on their soil it will crush its own economy!
Egypt is also poorer but it is the cradle of civilisation, but what would you know about those things...
I'm sure that he meant young as being rebuilt over and over again, more constsntly, structure-wise. I don't think he's making this video that disinformed, to say that Serbia init of itself is a "young" country.
Hope you're catching my drift here.
I just made it to Belgrade! Serbia is one of the most beautiful countries in Europe!
Hell yea Chris!! Glad to hear you're really enjoying it! 🤙🏽
Summer is a perfect time to visit Belgrade. Hope you had a good time.
Thanks Alex! Definitely, we had an awesome time! :)
Just summer???!?
@@arturoalbino2610 Absolutely not. It all depends on your preferences.
If you are more to sightseeing and exploring the city, then summer is a better option.
If you are more into exploring the nightlife and culinary experience then visiting on winter is just fine.
Don't get me wrong, winter is a great time also, only I find that the spring and summer period offers so much more options for a tourist to truly experience the city.
Serbia isn't a young country, quite a contrary, actually!
Belgrade (Singidunum)was founded year 200 BC (before the Christ)!
Cheers
@Aleksa Stojković
Well, yes, you got my point, Serbia is not a young state.
Wow we didn't know it dates that far back, thanks for sharing that! When I said "young" I was referring to when it became an independent state...but you're right it's been around for much longer :) thanks Aleksa
@@ONWorldTravel yeah I deff understood your point on it being young. But believe it or not its the oldest city in europe and archeologists make the claim that the first humans in europe came from. I would look into the subject its fascinating.
@@ONWorldTravel Actually, this location has been continuously inhabited since at least 5500 BC.
@@ONWorldTravel Actually Belgrad is about 7000 years old, for example infront of the Rajiceva Shopping Center are old brigges build by Romans under a glas wall (3:51)

I’m traveling to Serbia next week and was wanting to a couple of things. It would be great to hear your thoughts (thanks in advance :) ) :
Do you know of any well-kept local secret places I should definitely check out?
I heard city centres and outdoor markets usually sell food at inflated prices. Where do locals shop?
Where can I get the food that they do?
Also, how do you commute between places?

@@emiliasanchez3637 we have very good public transport inside Belgrade, when u come buy plastic card in any place where they sell newspapers they will have them.. They are empty, u add some money and u can travel around town with them.. Around 80 cents is 90 minutes ride.. U can change buses, trams, trolleys inside those 90mins.. Between towns we use buses, bus station in in the center of the city, or rent a car.. I buy my vegetables and fruits in open market or supermarket.. Prices arent so much different between them.
I recommend you to see Ada, it is lake inside town, u can walk, run, ride/rent a bike there 9km long path around lake, or just have lunch/ drinks .. Go to Zemun on the other side of Sava river, enjoy lunch next to Danube there, see old tower..
KALEMEGDAN is fort inside Belgrade (and zoo is there), but all turists go there u wont miss it.. And Skadarlija street for luch, bohemian place with lot of restaurants with traditional food and drinks.. Also full of tourist always.

I just want to face palm everytime I see a comment where someone is correcting him on Serbia not being a young country.
He meant it as Serbia is young in being a developed city ready to accept world tourists etc. 🤦♂️
Didn't know Serbia is a city
Especially when they feel the need to mention it even when dozens of others did.
Also, to the other two making smart-ass remarks, you can see they refered to Serbia as a country in the first sentence, so it was nothing more than a lapsus linguae in the second one.
This is not Reddit, no need to be a smart-ass.

Those railway tracks at 2:02 are abandoned now because of Belgrade Waterfront Project, they are planning on building line park and recreational area there that will stretch around Kalemegdan up to here and further up the tracks. Also Nikola Tesla museum is in the process to be moved to an big old electric power plant building (it is the most visited museum in Belgrade but in a very small space), which is located just on the Danube maybe 700 m from that blue passage over railway, so this whole area will change a lot in the next few years.
Thanks for sharing that, we're excited to go back and see it!
One day this Psychopath and his unsuccessful abortion of government will be removed from power, and those monstrosity of plans and outcomes will be removed!
@@shara-la8629 I don't support SNS but i think linear park is much better option than building more residential buildings in the place of abandoned tracks.

Something I find strange. All tourists who come to Belgrade and film, 99 %
Of them film stuff in old Belgrade. You have the whole New Belgrade, including good cafes, bars, shopping centers, waterfront walk from blok 45 and forward with all splavs. Also the whole waterfront walk to new Belgrade and all cool places in Zemun waterfront walk, which I think is much more Bohemian than Skadarlija.
There are also Ada, Kosutnjak etc etc. And not to talk about Avala. All places worth a visit for tourists.
We also spent some time in the New Belgrade as well and did love the great cafes and bars! Belgrade is developing super fast no question about it, great spot for tourists!

That's so cool, Belgrade's awesome! 🙌🏽
Those old parts with graffiti exist only in old part of Belgrade ( you haven't visited new one ) but even there its becoming harder to find them every years that goes by because of all the new buildings and infrastructure :) i visit Belgrade at least once a year
Hey Komentariram thanks for your comment! We didn’t know that. We loved the graffiti there - so much beautiful artwork in hidden places. We hope some can stay!
Hey if you need a quide or something, id be glad to help out guys. I used to show the city to my ex fiance from the US. She loved it.
Thanks Monsun ! We Appreciate it 👍🏼 next time we’re in town, maybe we can message you
@@ONWorldTravel feel free, my next destination is Israel, was in Berlin a month ago... If i keep it up maybe i can make a living out of traveling
I love the video. the travel was amazing. But why do all of these travel videos have the same horrible music sound track? Makes it almost unbearable to watch.
LOL hey Tom. This was one of our very first videos. Truthfully it's a bit cringe for us to watch now 🥴 We were shocked that this video hit the algorithm and got so many views. Our music choice and editing has changed a lot since. Thanks for watching!
5:57 great idea😂
:x
Lucky nobody saw him and didnt missunderstand it.
Don't know what that means..
5:56 hahahha dobro da te nije video neki srbin 😂
Please, what is the name of the music in Your video?
Hey Jaca!! We use music from epidemic sounds :)
Thanks a lot!
👍🏻
young country hahahahahahaha
Drzava nam starija od njihove
Dude! Serbia isn't a young coutry!!! First Serbian coutry was found in 631 Ad, but as a people it will be over 2200 years 😬 so don't say that Serbia is young coutry it's 11x older than US. Have a nice day😊💙
People that were to be known as Serbs settled in the Balkans in 6th century. There were no Serbs during the Roman occupation of the Balkans. It's like saying the English were around when the Romans governed Britannia, modern day Britain. 2200 years is an exaggeration and you know it.

@@stanmarsh9806 there were NO Serbs before the Roman occupation of the Balkans. Serbs are Slavs who settled in the Balkans in the 6th century AD.

Da li neko zna ciji je spomenik coveka sa cigarom u ruci prikazan posle Pekicevog spomenika. 4 min i 57 sek. i gde se nalazi? Hvala na informaciji

Young country?! No, not at all. On the contrary, it's a very old country.
I'm from Serbia and I never been in some parts of the city they have been...
haha we feel the same about some of the cities where we are from! Funny how it's common to explore more of other countries than our own!
5:57 dont do that in Serbia
Mislim da nisu imali lošu nameru. Vidi se da su ok likovi

Belgrade, the jewel of Europe and they have the most beautiful women
Thanks for sharing James!! Belgrade's definitely a hidden gem to many people! :)
@@ONWorldTravel forgive me but, I've never been to Belgrade. I'm from Canada and there were a couple of guys who came from Bosnia and Serbia, they said the country was picturesque and the people very humble and polite, I would love to see Belgrade someday. The guys I was talking about, they lived in my hometown, very nice people they were
My husband is German and he don't want to go with me to visit my family in Serbia cause they think it's to dangerous for him... 🙄 So stupid
ah no, we're sorry to hear that. We felt very safe where we stayed and explored.

1:10 Just a disclaimer, that building (and a few others) were bombarded and left as a reminder of the NATO aggression in 1999.
