I bought this reel and was really excited to use it. I bought it as a jig reel for nighttime bluefin. The transition from High to low during the fight was not smooth at all. I was on my third fish ( 40-50lb) when it started skipping in high gear while winding up from depth while on a fish. After that fish was landed I dropped the jig down and could not get it up in high gear at all because it was skipping so bad. I noticed that when it would skip that the gear change button would go in as if it were trying to go into low on its own. I emailed Gomexus and now have to pay for shipping to send it to Florida for them to look at it. Honestly after taking it partially apart, I can see where they cut some serious corners on the design. I would not trust this reel on a big fish at all. Just FYI
Thank you, this is right up my isle with the price point and I’m definitely considering giving it a go… If I were to use it for Bluefin (knife jigging) what size rod would you recommend pairing it with and what mainline would you recommend?
You're welcome! Thanks for checking in. With this reel, if you're going to mainly utilize it for fishing vertical jigs, you can pair it with a heavy jigging specific rod like the phenix megalodon. If you're planning on using it as a trolling or bait reel, we'd recommend pairing it with a rail rod such as the Seeker OSP 1X3 or 2X4. Gomexus recommends filling this reel with 80lb braid, but you could go heavier as long as you're conscious of line capacity. Hope this helps...if you haven't already we'd recommend checking out our video on vertical jigging for Bluefin: ua-cam.com/video/j37zxs33gws/v-deo.html
@@anthonytidwell9808 I haven’t only because I am too in love with my spinning gear 🤣… I use a 1000 with 2# mono for trout and a 12,000 with 80# braid for tuna
For this specific reel we would recommend either a lighter rail rod (trolling/nighttime jigging) or a heavy jigging rod. This is dependent on what tactic of fishing you are planning on utilizing the reel for.
Be careful when buying their products I bought a fishing reel from them,I didn't know that reel was being discontinued the real broke now I can't get it fixed nor can't find anyone to make a repair for it....

Hi Stephan, thank you for taking the time to write this, and for pointing out these issues. I'm sorry for what happened to your RA600D.
We are willing to cover the return cost to Florida, please check
Solid reel for under 10 years of service. For long term i would stick to battle tested Penn.

Is the RA600 for left-handed use?
Currently there is only a right handed option available for this reel.
Would this be good for trolling madmacs

1:10 International and Fathom 2 speed lever drags are on Dura Drag, not HT 100. Either way, your comparison is hilarious 🤡
How much did they pay you to drop that line? Be honest.
BD is woke AF. Not sure I trust you anymore.
