It's designed for slow pitch jigging with braid. I've used it in that manner many times and never had it eat the line. The drag is a little wonky but I found with use it all smooths out and is very consistent. It almost has too much drag. But with a little tuning its a great deal and a solid reel
Do yourself a favor: Go on ebay, buy Cal's grease, wipe even on those carbon drags only (not the metal side) to soak in the drag, wipe grease excess (important), mount it back, go fishing, come back and tell me how ANY reel doing that will feel in your hads. Yes, you're welcome. This info comes from someone who tunned, qa, and green-smoked reels at 35mph/~50lbs measured up to their drag-burning-point.
Thanks for the review. I'm looking forward to either this one or TX 15 for bottom fishing 🎣. There's a difference though in max drag between them too. Enjoy it sir.
Thanks for this review. I am thinking of buying the EX300L model but I am worried about the drag setting shifting. Have you been able to work out why the drag changes? And is there a fix for this problem?
On your recommendations I bought a brand new LX50 on ebay. I got it yesterday, & found the drag knob would not turn at all (like it had locktite or 2-part epoxy in the threads)! I eventually got it to move using pliers, but that screwed up the drag lever, now the lever hardly moves & there is no drag at all! Curiously the US ebay seller has a Florida reel repair service right in their listing....now I know why. The US seller says I have to ship the brand new reel to Florida, at my own expense. So I called the Florida repair place & they said I need a bill of sales for warranty service....the seller did not include any bill of sales.
Thanks for the review. However, you didn't follow drag adjustment routine. You adjust the drag while in FREE. I have this reel and there are no drag problems as long as you do it right way.
Once I set the drag pressure, I cannot get the drag lever to go all the way back to “free”. The drag lever will not go into free spool and the line will not come off as if in free spool. It feels like there is still a little bit of drag and it slows the drop of the jig. Help?
Saludos!
You reel the line into the spool because the reel is for jigging and you don't know how to wind the line evenly on the spool. plus it is made for PE braided lines. SO ALL OF THE PROBLEMS THAT YOU HAD WITH THE REEL WAS YOUR FAULT.

Did you put the reel in free spool before trying to adjust the drag…..the drag knob won’t turn if it’s in gear……
Thanks bro , Recently I bought the SX 450. I’m going to have in mind your review..
The same thing happen to me with the line getting stuck in the spool. I wish they had level wind.
Hi, great review, i was going to buy it mainly on looks alone. Would you have a comparable recommendation? Thank you.

What you like . Tell me for buy one
Doesn't jig. Doesn't use braid. Buys jigging reel designed for braid and rigs it with mono. Still does ok with it
Sounds to me like you brought the wrong reel for the job!
Do you recommend this reel for snook fishing off the pier

Did you manage to solve the drag problem?
if you went up the 100$ as you said what would be your choice
This is the question to ask right here.
Thanks for the review. Any update since May? Have you gotten into any 15+lb snapper or large AJ?

true!
Does this pair with a casting or spinning rod?
Casting
That happens to me also
Is the reel on backwards?
No
