- Whether you are a "Gear Junkie" or a "Minimalist" you can appreciate quality hunting gear. The 2023 Gear of the Year award honors 10 companies & products that we fell in love with this year.
You will find products ranging from $10 to over $1,000. Quality gear is paramount but finding quality gear at an affordable price is a challenge. Some of our favorite gear this year belongs in the heavy weight class despite the tiny pricy tags.
We would love to hear your feedback in the comments. Tell us some of your favorite gear from 2023. Our list of honorable mentions is a mile long but ultimately we had to narrow it down to the top 5 overall and top 5 budget/gift items.

All great gear. I do want to get the tactacam FTS. I film all my hunts, but sometimes I don’t have someone to hold the camera while I shoot.
Me too! I love the 6.0 camera but I need to get the solo xtreme with the FTS for filming the action. I like the 6.0 for bow hunting and love the fact that it is not round as it keeps the orientation of the camera perfect. Now that my boys are shooting though I want the FTS so I can see what their view was when they do pull the trigger.

My buddy owns it and can't say enough good things about them. I saw them at SHOT last year and almost ordered one when I got home but then I checked the regulations. Scheel's sells them down the road and one of their guys told me it is legal in CO. I just have a hard time making sense of what I read in the regs and what I see in the scope. I still may end up picking one up for times we travel out of state and for days at the range.
Yikes, it is pretty clear in the co hunting regs once you see it, something like no electronic aids attached to the weapon. You can use it if you take out the battery.
@@WallymakesstuffBurris responded today and said it IS LEGAL in CO! I already ordered everything for one of my boys hunting setups. Good thing I have two boys though!!!

“FYI, the PH is legal in CO and so is the Eliminator product. There is some confusion around those products and thus we have a letter from CPW stating it is good to go.”
Oh nice! Man that is crazy… I guess the regs aren’t that clear after all 😅. I’d print a copy of that and keep it with you on hunts. I wouldn’t expect all the game wardens to be on the same page. Makes me wonder if the garmin bow sites are legal too if that thing is…
