  • **Ken from Salmon River Solutions actually watched the video and sent me a few notes. He said he will often flip the T-Nut which would eliminate the need for the 11/32" drill bit. The rail also adds structural stability to the stock once it is secured so you may not even need/want to fill it with all the epoxy. Did I overcomplicate it? Probably but I still feel great about the final result. The stock feels rock solid!
If you are looking for a secure way to attach your hunting rifle to a tripod/bipod this video may help. My son and I are setting out to build an economical long range hunting rifle. We recently purchased the CVA Cascade XT knowing they come with incredible barrels from Bergara's shop in Spain.
We explored several options from swapping the stock to a chassis system ($$$), using a hog saddle when shooting from a tripod, mounting a bi-pod to the sling swivel stud, etc. After weighing each of the options we opted for the Salmon River Solutions "Hunter Rail". It is ultralight (3oz), adds strength to the synthetic stock, and provides unmatched versatility whether shooting from a bench, tripod, or bipod.
This video shows the tools and process we used to install the Hunter Rail on a synthetic rifle stock with a plastic skeleton. I am not going to lie, it was a bit intimidating and scary at first as we really didn't want to screw up this new rifle.
I am so glad we decided to send it though. The Hunter Rail is exactly what we hoped it would be. The install process took a few days (waiting on epoxy to dry) but went smooth at every stage. I am grateful one of my buddies owned a drill press but we still could have easily completed this project without it.

I was introduced to Salmon River Solutions last year through the On Point Experience league inside the HuntLeague app. SRS sponsored the league winner, Cody Paratore with some SRS gear that was used on the bear hunt hosted by Garrett Weaver, Bear Hunting Magazine, Vortex Optics, HUXWRX, and HuntLeague.

I'm glad I found your video - I have some Manfrotto gear and I want to do this on my Tikka composite stock so I can mount the Magpul M-Lok. Should be fun! I might even fill the back of the stock with epoxy, to help with sound mitigation (right now, with the stock being hollow, every shot echoes inside the stock, so this will help stop that).

I am sure filling in some of the gaps will make a big difference. My son and I are really happy we did this with that rifle as it is shooting great and that Salmon River Solutions Rail is rock solid when attached to the tripod. For the butt stock or just filling gaps you may do a minimal expansion foam that can be shaved down or sanded. That will help keep the weight down and it should eliminate sound and some vibration.

@@huntleague My rifle weighs less than 8 lbs with the scope and Harris bipod, so weight isn't a huge concern, especially if I'm going to be using a tripod - but I have to agree about the choice of filler. The volume of epoxy required in the butt stock would make the back end ridiculously heavy. I happen to have a can of expanding foam, though it appears this stuff expands a lot - I guess I can always test the expansion, and then try it, and scrape it out if it doesn't work well. The company that is selling the M-Lok has it on sale (clearance) for less than half price, so no better time to buy, methinks!

Absolute love my hunter Rail. Nick from vortex mounted it onto the rifle after the hunt for me. It played a key part in killing my whitetail this year in Wyoming. Had it clippped into the tripod while we snuck in and when the buck stood up I was ready. I love their stuff. I now have their muzzle breaks for two rifles and a second acra plate on my back up rifle. I also plan to get their tac table for NRL hunter matches. Great products.

Come hunt with me in CO and you can take that ARCA plate I ended up with back with you. No chance am I shipping it! Has to be a face to face, man to man transaction.
So glad you introduced me and the HuntLeague Community to SRS. Hoping to get JJ ringing steel at 600+ here soon after adding the rail.

Man,so sorry, am not judging but in all fairness, you missed checking your firearm for live round, 2nd you should never pick up barreled action from scope
