    When I made my first character it was a Miqo'te Seeker male, and I gave it a proper male name. It was a Tia... However as I became dissatisfied with the glam males had at the time I used a fantasia and now my head cannon is that they got plastered in an Ishgard bar and somehow ended up finding and drinking one (a fantasia) unknowingly so they are now female.

    • @AlienneAshford

      That's always a fun way to go about it! Fantasia antics can be really amusing to work with. X3

    It's kindof interesting that despite the lore saying that nunh aren't often the leaders of their tribes, the few that we have seen in-game seem to hold this role regardless. Both the M tribe M'rahz Nunh in Gyr Abania and the U tribe U'odh Nunh in Thanalan seem to hold leadership within their tribe. Still, all the different tribes that aren't shown in-game allow you quite a bit of freedom. I've been playing a nunh of the C tribe for the past year, now, and his tribe has a council that previous nunhs and older females sit on along with the current nunh. So, while he isn't the de facto leader, but he's still a powerful voice in the tribe.

    • @AlienneAshford
      @AlienneAshford  2 роки тому +1

      I thought the same thing too! Both in-game tribes are indeed lead by the Nuhns and that is amusing . XD
      My hope is we'll eventually see more tribes flushed out, as far as I can remember the only other tribe that has heavy representation in game is the J tribe in the peaks, but they are somewhat scattered.
      You are right though, it does allow for quite a lot of freedom to wing it and make the lore work for you. I do like the council theme you have going on! X3

    With Ranaa Mhigo being a Keeper living in Thavnair, I took to making my main be a Keeper from Thavnair as well. Her family is a family of Keepers who married into Raen families to aim for better survivability and a more wide range of abilities in lack of what one or the other may not have.
    Atasi, my Miqo’te, has a family who forwent the traditions they knew to live more closely knit to those in Thavnair. Her family is no longer matriarchal and she carries her father's last name and a hindi first name. This showing their ability to adapt as needed as you mentioned in the video.
    Her family specialize in raising coeurls on the far side of the island we don't get to go to. Her family would also be the Thavnairians who introduced coeurls to Vylbrand and La Noscea. Each member of the family is given a coeurl kitten to raise at the age of 16 who becomes their hunting partner and the persons constant companion and protector as they travel.
    I thought this would overall be an interesting concept with the aid of a good friend of mine! Thoughts, opinions?

    • @AlienneAshford
      @AlienneAshford  2 роки тому +1

      I really like both of these approaches! Thavnair really opens up the doors for some interesting concepts to work on, especially with it begin such a large trade port! You get this big collection of different cultures all coming together in various ways which is really neat! Have you been able to grab the Coeurl mount?
      I'm actually working on a new Sunseeker miqo back story right now myself! She's from the G tribe and she's a monk, but thats about as far as i've gotten so far. XD
      Yeah with Thavvnair being what it is, I could very easily see names and traditions changing all over the place.

      @@AlienneAshford The entire thing is the scenario and I'm very glad you like it! There are also more elements to her backstory such as having twin older sisters and a little brother.
      In XIV lore, mixed children will almost always take after their mother meaning race, skin color, etc. So Atasi and her siblings' father is the only Au Ra in her immediate family outside grandparents and such on father's side ^^
      And please feel free to correct me, but didn't the G tribe move to Sharlayan due to Garlean takeover? Or am I missing something? Was it only G'raha and his parents? I'm asking because I don't exactly remember and you bringing it up made me remember some of what G'raha had said

    Do all Miqo'te in the Seekers of the Sun clan necessarily have Nun(sorry if I spelt it wrong!) personally not a fan of my Miqo'te belonging to a harem if it doesn't need to in lore.
    Of course, I can find a way to explain otherwise if it is a thing that happens often but I'd be interested to know how common it is!

    • @AlienneAshford
      @AlienneAshford  2 роки тому

      Heya!
      While many Sun Seekers are born to a Nuhn it does not have to be that way! There are also many miqo'te who have either left the tribe or abandoned tribal ways of life entirely; then there are miqo'te who are adopted into non-tribal families as well. So you do have a lot of room for variety there!

    I play a Keeper and have actually been wanting to get into roleplaying her more. Would you happen to have any suggestions for places I could look to make connections or find groups that do roleplay actually relating to the lore? ;-; I know there is a ffxiv roleplayers forum, but it doesn't appear to have been very active in the last couple years. I have social anxiety so randomly walking up to people is really hard for me, and the only real experience I've had with rp in game was a Hrothgar with a foot f*etish trying to ERP me in Limsa (way to reinforce your stereotypes, buddy).

      I can certainly take a look around and see what I can find! There is a Discord that I recommend to people who are on the crystal Data Center however I unfortunately cannot post the link here as UA-cam dislikes that. But I shall still see if I can get that link to you!

      Okay so! If you google "FFXIV Roleplay Resources Discord" the one that I am a part of should be the first link that pops up! It's a really nice hub for role-players who are looking to find their way! I believe it is heavily Crystal DC based, but there are also people there from other data centers who may be able to point you into the right direction!
      I hope this helps! Feel free to reply here anytime if you have questions!

    My Seeker male was born not only outside of a tribe and has *no* idea what tribe he should be part of. He has no tribal name and has no idea where to even look to begin. He's largely a blank slate as far as tribal culture is concerned. He's a former pirate and veteran of the Bozjan front... looking for a proper place to call home.

    I was going to write a comment about my Miqo'te's name; however, I was immediately hit with a wall that displayed the speech violations for this comment section...
    I have reviewed the comments and have seen (just like on XIV forums) that all "negative" comments have been policed out of the discussion.
    I want to now speak on a bigger issue:
    The threat to the XIV community is not the "racists transphobes" that virtually do not exist in the community.
    It is the rampant leftists that are against discourse and use passive-aggressive behavior to abuse the ToS and silence players.
    I cannot even believe that I have to write this comment (which will probably be deleted) on a video about fictional races.
    You people literally cannot handle opinions and view-points that are contrary to your own but you are on the Internet? Play MMORPGs? *Why?*
    What "racist" and "transphobic" comments can be made about fuckin Miqo'te?????
    Explain to me how someone can be racist and transphobic *to FICTIONAL races in a FICTIONAL world where transgender people do not exist???*
    Instead of coming here and appreciating the game, I have to be instantly reminded of why people hate this community.
    This fake "nice" bullshit which is really pandering to *ONE* demographic that flooded the game after it became successful; and then policed all the "phobeisms" out.
    Look, I appreciate the content but XIV isn't a "safe-space".
    This is why people think XIV players are weak ass leftists....

    • @AlienneAshford
      @AlienneAshford  Рік тому +4

      I will not be deleting your comment, however for the sake of education I will say this; at the end of the day people come to videos games to have fun and relax. That can mean many different things for many people. If you are under the mindset that racism and transphobia are not something that can translate within the game, then you have severely missed the point altogether.
      The rules I have set in place are to keep the community as stress and discrimination free as possible. The fact that you've taken offense to my rules I genuinely believe show's internal complications that you yourself will need to work out.
      At the end of the day, I myself am Pansexual. I'm non binary. I am a part of the LGBTQ+ and if you're not keen on the guidelines i've set up, then that is your choice. With that said however, I do not believe ours is the community you're looking for if what should have been simple guidelines have made you feel obligated to post and try to pick my reasoning apart.
      I do hope you find a community that suits your life-style, but I will not tolerate people getting up-in-arms over the simple courtesy i've asked. Good day.
