I have recently found your channel I just wanted to say how much I appreciate your content and your approach to making UA-cam videos. No fuss, no frills, you don’t make the videos about “you”, just easy to follow, to the point and exactly what I need to help me with my projects. A massive than you from the UK 🇬🇧
I love to watch these old bombs getting another shot at glory. The designers and engineers of these cars probably had no idea they would be saved, sought after, and loved over 60 years later. You go to the highest level of restoring them, thanks for sharing.
Thanks ! man I've been looking up and down for info on that bike, can't seem to find any..... I've got a pretty cool chopper build going, super custom - twisted down tubes, twisted springer front leg, see through fuel tank, see through oil tank.
Always appreciate the close up shots and commentary on what you’re doing and what tools you are using. I’m in the process of replacing my inner and outer rockers and under seat panel replacement on my 57 Belair and I’m a lot more confident in first time attempting something like that! Thanks for all the tips! Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family Robert!
Every video you make it look sooo easy and we all know that it isnt....wish I lived near ya so I could volunteer 🙋♂️ and learn as much as I could from ya...keep up the good work with these videos cause I get motivated to go out in my garage and start tinkering ( start fucking my car up lol) with my impalas after watching your videos.!!!!
I had the task of updating a 64 Chevelle SS Malibu Convertible. Floor pans were rotted out. Turns out to be a good thing as the TH350 doesn't like the original floor tunnel. 19" wheels rear and 16" front and body hunkered down low over the tires, and the rears had a 1/4" clearance inside and out, so keep your fingers out of there! It was a gorgeous car.
Yes I too learnt welding by “grinding”. Grinding the hard welds trying not to damage the surrounding softer sheet metal is a real pain. Thank you for some of these tips. I thought I knew enough but when you see a professional doing it then you realize there is always more to learn. Cheers from the Emerald Isle.
If you have a mig welder, you should be able to convert it to use shielding gas, usually around a couple hundred dollar investment. If not clean your surfaces well, get good parts fitment, good ground, and dial in your machine... your good to go.
Cool how you can get all these aftermarket panels, through a bit of work I'm sure, to fit nicely together with screws. Is it a big key in having the body secure, square, and level PRIOR to removing the rusted parts, or more critical to re-level and square up the remaining body AFTER rusted part removal? Another great vid! THX!
Yes the body should be on a fixture if you are performing major structural repair. Truck cabs require a different approach. Thank you for the questions and comment !
The tip on using the .025 wire on thin metal is spot on. I found through experience that the voltage required to melt .035 is too much for 18 Ga. to handle without blowing through many times. What do you use for weld through primer?
Fantastic tutorial Robert! I absolutely picked up cleaning as you go, good habit to get into. Any reason you pick moisture cure urethane (POR15) over an epoxy? Care to share the source of the flap wheels? Thanks! You got a great channel!
Thanks ! the POR 15 was the customers request ( actually I prefer the epoxy ) on the flap wheels northern tool but I'm sure amazon would be a great resource.
Very helpful. What screws do you use and where do you get them? What type of driver head is used? They seem to have a large washer type head. I haven’t seen self tapping screws like that. Happy holidays.
I love your videos, and have learned a lot, but I was always told not to use POR15 on bare metal or any smooth surface. Best used on actual rust. What are your thoughts? Also, why filler primer at the end of the video. Can I just use spray on regular metal primer in both situations?
The POR 15 was customer requested, I've heard good and bad, I personally haven't seen anything negative from POR 15, I prefer epoxy. As far as primer, it's alot easier to use a small amount of aerosol than mix up 2 part and then have to clean the gun... Thanks
BIG Thank you to all the followers, subscribers, and people who have bought a coffee !!! I want to wish all a SAFE and Happy Holiday !

Good info and videos... I cant afford the gas type welders. I can only afford flux core... any tips for that?

Do u always use 035 wire when doing plug welds
Usually, but I use .035 across the board unless I'm doing something like 1/2'' up
Thnx
Do you have a specific place where you get your replacement panels from?
Replacement panel availability has changed soooo much in the last couple of years.... Usually Classic Industries.
Thank you. Awesome work
