This game is perfect. I wish KOF got involved. It would sale a lot
Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man. You should do a video on Sonic the Fighters, known as Sonic Championship in North America and Europe.
Here is something else Ryu's ending in street fighter x tekken is linked to why he appears in asuras wrath dlc it would be good to find out more on this story if you could to see if its ultimately true if it is then wow what a easter egg. Keep up the good look
I still play this game online on my ps3 and I don’t care what anyone says, but this game is really good!
Top Hat Gaming Man, can you please do a video on Street Fighter V?
I remember buying SFxT and learning about the DLC characters when my friend brought over his modded XBOX and showed me all of the characters. They were 100% complete from day one and I realized the game industry was taking a nasty turn.
I think the On-Disc DLC was the big turn-off for so many people, and it was this, DmC, and Megaman Games getting cancelled left and right that turned this time period into what I dub the Crapcom era
While they’re making moves in the right direction, I feel they won’t be truly out of this era until they start bringing back old dormant IPs. Even bringing old games to modern platforms would do wonders.
An era I still live in... but their latest game for the PS5... should it finally end for me and finally forgive them?
Never forget the Street fighterV shitshow release.
Thry gave us a dollar store Mega Man lol
@@heelspawn8023 megaman 11?
Because capcom had spread themselves so thinly that they were literally competing with themselves on multiple fronts?
referral madness thanks.
Im still, sadly, hoping and waiting for Tekken X Street Fighter. I know it will never see the light of day but, one can always dream.
They keep teasing that it may happen but I don’t see it as long as tekken 7 and street fighter v are relevant
I mean, SFV is getting the final Season 5, and Tekken 7 is approaching its 4th season which might also be the last one. Hope we hear about TxSF soon.
Unless they troll us and SF6 & Tekken 8 get announced and then we have to wait another 6 years.
I stand with you man, been looking forward to this since they both got announced
why not? Tekken has massive market and it's getting better same with the decent amount of fans from SF
I'd rather see Tekken crossed over with Mortal Kombat.
I'd love to see Tekken x Street Fighter to come out. This was a great crossover marred by bad decisions and I'd love to see the crossover done justice. Besides seeing the SF characters in another 3D fighter would be great to see. Akuma in Tekken 7 has already been a great taste, please give us the main course Namco. Also please cover Namco X Capcom and it's sequel series Project X Zone. I love those titles to death.
Geese Howard in Tekken 7 was also great
@@ElGamerCosplayer indeed yet the fact him and akuma are 2d character's make you wonder what the other characters from street fighter and king of fighters would look like ....
Sfxt was still fun to play. In my opinion.
I enjoy it. I played it a few days ago for a few hours when I just wanted to play a match or two. It's underrated like no other.
Yeah, very funny with beer, pizza and old friends,a cheesy game.
Yup
This game could have been incredible. I remember when I saw that first Ryu and Kazuya fight I fell in love with the game and then Capcom had to go and get greedy with Gems and hiding DLC on the disk.
I still love how well the Tekken characters were put into the SF style
@Zamza about that, that's called Tekken x street fighter, but it's in limbo
i would love the namco version that's why i was not interested in the Capcom version i just think Tekken has better controls
I do as well
This game should have been legendary the 2013 update was so good lol
Greed and bad decisions man. Still hurts everything before it can be forgotten by the time people are interested again.
The game has a 2nd life on discord :) many people play it now. Check out my comment.
@@Jh0nnY2k i play and am apart of the discord hit me up. I'm Quizz LeBeau
This is the second time I heard that people believed a new Darkstalkers was going to be announced before the revelation of Street Fighter x Tekken. While my dark soul still burns for a new Darkstalkers, given the debacle that was SFxTK, the terrible practices of Capcom at the time and the general state of Capcom up until recently, I’m kind of glad Darkstalkers didn’t return during that period, but the longer wait further fuels the fire of my heart for Darkstalkers!
There's still a small community, we play daily and weekends on ps3
I still play online on my ps3
Street Fighter vs. Capcom should be the only way to bring back the glory of the VS. series period and add June from Star Gladiator into the game please.
😊👍💖
I haven't been into the SFIV MOD Scene in many years. But, since both games were done on the same Engine. Has anyone Ported the TEKKEN Fighters into SFIV yet..to boos the roster on that game with out all of the BS from the TAG & GEMS Systems?
I legit love this game but Capcom's scummy practices really hurt it, sad this game should of been better
it was the gem system’s fault! that flashy mess was a real turn off for me and i would always unequip the gems from my fighters.
I still wish they'd go back to shadow effects instead of this stupid, overused flashing yellow effect for EX moves. It's still in use in SF5!
It put me off too, just overcomplicates things. It may be different, but it is why I haven't picked uo ex fighting layer.
I didnt even kno SF x Tekken failed. I Loved that game and its one of my top 3 fave fighting games ever
If Tekken vs SF plays like Tekken 7, I would be interested!
I want the Street fighter cross Tekken game that they promised us. Using the Tekken engine.
That “hello” and “yeahhhhh” is so sonically soothing
You and Matt Mcmuscles have been covering the same games for the past few months. I like how you both go in-depth for all the little details. You all building up to a crossover episode? Maybe for Clayfighter 63 1/3?
I was hella hyped this game ( and the Tekken version) back in 2010-2011. Here are some of the things that made me pretty disappointed.
1. It had to be a mandatory full blown tag team fighter.
2. Odd characters pairings & rivalries : Really Bob and Julia?
3. Pandora and chaos emeralds gems had to be 60% apart of the gameplay.
4. Story: why did it to revolve around those stupid pandora chaos emeralds , or what ever they are the story should have been more straight fowards like they with the Capcom vs SNK series , like where Shadaloo or the Zaibatsu was holding a world fighting tournament.
5. Music: the remixes were meh.
6. Roster: it's good but not enough. This could've been a very good crossover debuts for characters like Fei Long, Gouken ,Gen and Oro etc on the Capcom side. Imagine rivalries like Gen vs Feng Wei!
7. Finally the DLC obviously.
Despite how mediocre the game was I still actually want the Tekken x Street Fighter to come out, and even maybe try to do some sort of a improved sequel to The Capcom version because I think Capcom could've done way better than what they really did.
Still shocked we've yet to see sf vs mk
I hope you eventually review the Virtua Fighter, TEKKEN and Dead or Alive games.
I love Street Fighter X Tekken! I played online a lot on the PS3 version.
This game practically "milk" money from their costumers. It could or should have been incredible. I'll never forget the hype
The game is fixed now :) If you want to pick it up it's 6$ on steam and you would be a fool to miss it. The combo system is a bliss. And gems are fixed :) no need to spend any money. ANd you can grab the dlc characters for free.
@@Jh0nnY2k Cool I may pick it up then
It really is a great game underneath all the initial problems that have been fixed for the most part. Definitely worth the steal of a price you can find it for now.
referral madness theres a SFxT community on discord. You can join them if you want to find more people that play it.
Akuma in Tekken 7 shows Namco can make street fighter come to life using in a 3d environment using mostly tekken mechanics. I would prefer a tekken vs street fighter game than a tekken 8 or street fighter 6.
I just bought this again on the Steam Sale, great little game. Looks great maxed out on PC.
I still remember in the room at SDCC when Harada stormed the Super Street Fighter 4 panel! I thought they were actually gonna fight!
I wouldn't be surprised if Namco is sitting on Tekken x SF as a Hail Mary in the event a mainline Tekken entry bombs. Someday.
With Tekken 8 we’re on the road to one already.
I love this game. I just wish they went all out with the roster. I'd rather have Armor King instead of Bob, E. Honda or Alex instead of Rufus. I also wanted Lee and Combot.
King was nerfed badly in this game, too. Many Tekken characters are too complex in their gameplay for this simplified mess, to support.
Mr. Hell No And also Karin. Since Sakura and Karin are a perfect match and OP rivals. Like Karin vs Lilie would make a lot of sense.
They attributed Akuma in Tekken 7 as an acknowledgement of what the fans wanted, also saying that they had the assets already created and that the Tekken X Street Fighter game was basically finished.
capcom's greed was the reason this game failed, but it is amazing, just got it early this year on a sale on steam, totally worth my money
Why use the gems i dont get it
When all the awesome CGI trailers for STREET FIGHTER X TEKKEN was the most I want to really remember of this huge letdown.
The cross over we really need is a “top hat gaming x matt muscle”
Wha Happen X Yeeeeaaaahhhh
I miss Tatsunoko X Capcom😭. The Giant Character was such a cool mechanic. I wish that became a series of its own
I remember excitingly telling a friend who like me was really into fighters in the '90s about this game upon announcement, and his response was scoffing and saying the game only existed to compete with FPS. Not the reaction I expected.
What was the logic behind that?
I would still buy the Namco release. The only issue I had with this version was I don't care for tag team fighters. I wanted to fight 1 on 1 between the two roasters and believe that would have given me the match ups that I dreamed of.
If Namco did it based off tekken 7 engine that would be cool, no crystals or micro transactions and just did it as a tag game I think would sell well on ps5
Looking forward to your take on the forgotten JRPG Namco X Capcom. Why we were denied that game, I'll never know.
That god I got the Capcom x namco english version.
Love your work, you are a true expert on this type of stuff and I get so much out of your documentaries/vids. I have had to keep you as a subscriber and you always make me laugh. You steadily produce quality vids and if you have a shirt I would gladly buy one. Peace
@@OriginalMastersthat is true
This wasn't a crossover I was really expecting. I like both SF and Tekken, but to me Capcom's SNK crossover was a dream came true. The crossover I've been expecting is TekkenXDOA.
That gem system was bs and should of been optiinal. The dlc hack was crazy too. Honestly it one of the most fun fighting games I've ever played.
Love to see the cosplayers on this game launching event. I can see Guy, Rose, and Chun Li
After seeing what they did with Akuma in Tekken 7 I can say I would buy Tekken X Street Fighter on day one
Oh yeah. You know it's going to be a good day when you see big daddy top-hat posting a video
Hey, Top Hat Gaming Man. Can you please do a video on X-Men: Children of the Atom?
I really could not stand the only having to beat one of the opposing team rather than both characters, also the really early footage looked more over the top and wish it was like that
Disable the gem system and split the life bar. I got this and enjoyed it, the tekken cast was a blast to play with especially Kazuya, heihachi, Bryan, Steve, and Hworang.
If Namco does do Tekken x Street Fighter, they better add the same Pac-Man from SFxT, but if they also add Mega Man, then they got to give him a different design.
Speaking only for me and my group of friends, it boiled down to two reasons: 1) We loved 2D fighters primarily with the only exception being Soul Calibur. We preferred Street Fighter, Guilty Gear, Fatal Fury/KOF, Darkstalkers, and such others. We had little interest in Tekken so we didn't care much for the idea of a crossover. 2) We were kinda fed up with Capcom's crap by that point as we had shelled out too much money already on the many SF4s and MVC3s. We had had enough of Capcom by then. I wouldn't mind giving the game a go now though.
The over saturation may have had something to do with it, but I think the two biggest factors were the Gen system, that had fans worried it would make the game pay to win , and the on-disk DLC that left a sour taste. Also to a lesser degree the fact that the PS3 version had 5 extra characters didn't sit well with those who played on Xbox.
Black in the day SFxT gave me the impression of being an uglier SF4.
Also, the Tekken characters played clunky.
Not a bad game, but far from it's true potential.
This game failed because of the poor decision to include DLC characters on the disc. That pissed off everyone. I bought it, and it pissed me off. Nobody was playing it online a month later. It was fun, but something about it felt rushed. It just didn't feel right. The 2013 patch apparently helped with balance and other things. But it was too little, too late. The damage was done. I didn't jump back into it. I don't think many other people did either. Capcom can be geniuses, and then the biggest dumb asses a short time later. I love them most of the time, and then they push it too far. It is how they have been since the NES days.
imo this game is like a fine wine it's a classic! Remember street fighter 3 didn't get it's roses until way later down the line. This is the same situation the problem is that new capcom practices want alot of sales up front if not it will get the same treatment that mvci got. Honestly who wouldn't want this game again for the current and next gen system's?
MVC I seems like a better game than its competitors at the time in my opinion. It was even looking more fun and interesting to watch than Dragon Fighter Z.
Gem System, Disc-Locked Content, the Anti-American Stance Capcom had at the time with all the Sony Playstation Exclusive additions/games... not to mention they screwed up and let MVC3 die the year earlier, not to mention all the cancelled Megaman and Devil May Cry games... basically Capcom really burned a lot of their user-base at the time in what we refer to as, "The CRAPcom Era".
It failed because it was a cross over that made zero sense. You have a 2D energy based fighting game vs a 3D based hand to hand combat fighting system. It should have been
Tekken vs Virtua Fighter or
Tekken vs Dead or Alive
Games in the same fighting style and fighting plains.
Solo campaign in fighting games are dying, Dead or Alive 5 and 6, Street fighterV Mortal kombat 11 and more, they are all making a single story where you have to play different characters (not all of them) in one playthrough to achieve an ending (often really bad with no replay value whatsoever). Secret characters, levels and costumes are all hiding behind a paywall nowadays, hell, even voices of characters have to be bought separately (Guilty gear Xrd). What a sad thing to witness one of your favorite genre's demise (little by little they focus more on the online features and less on the solo experience because of the money).
Yes I'll say it, it was much better in the old days.
@Heroinedown
The fall of the Tekken series began with Tekken 6 in 2010, the story and the new characters were bad, Jin's character was ruined with him starting WW3, the single player was a beat em up rather than a fighting game,
Such a shame, I sometimes dream on what would happen if Street fighter and Tekken made a crossover. And this is what we got.
I remember I got this and Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 at the same time on Vita.. Both are very fun to play and don’t seem to require advanced skills.. Damn when I think about it with fighters like these not to mention DOA, Skullgirls and Blazblu PSV had some of the best games ever in that genre..
I agree they should do the Tekken X SF because they said they would.. It feels a little incomplete..
I've played Street Fighter since street fighter 2 and owned it on SNES. I've also played and owned every Tekken since the first game for PS1. To be honest there were a few issue with the game that kept several of my friends from playing it. The first is that it was not particularly a good game for the Tekken characters. It was very awkward attempting to play most of the tekken characters. They did a great job of getting them to work visually in the Street Fighter IV style but a large portion of the fighters didn't adapt well in the street fighter system. Also a huge complaint from most of the people I know was the super moves. Every street fighter character by that time had 2 or more super moves that could've been used. And the Tekken characters had a ton of moves and grabs that could've been turned into supermoves in that game. But every character only had one if I recall. That took away from the fighting and strategy of most fighters which was disappointing.
I still love the game but I'd stopped playing because there were so many other fighting games at the time that were available and more interesting from that era (Tekken Tag 2 being at the top of that list)
I remember being around when it came out and I feel like the competitive scene was playing something else so this just kinda came and went without much fan fair. I bought it, it didn't seem very deep or interesting so I think I ended up just selling it back a few days later.
As endlessly hilarious as what they did with Mega Man in this game, I can't blame MM fans from being completely butthurt by the move. It came at a BAD time for the franchise before Capcom realized they could make money off of the character via merchandising, when game after game were cancelled and the Street Fighter franchise being seen as the only viable profitable one.
DAMN THOSE LEVELS LOOKED AWESOME !
I rented this game and beat it with 1 quarter, first try. It was a pretty fun game but the initial challenge was a huge letdown. I'm glad it was just a rental.
Love your videos Top Hat, especially Fighting Game Thursdays and Portables Around the World. But when are you gonna cover NetherRealms major franchises MK and Injustice? I'm dying to hear your opinion on them, even if you hate them. As long as the videos are longer than the three words "I hate them..."
I'm still waiting for Namco's side of the crossover
No Tekken X Street Fighter at this point I wouldn't even care anymore
this was and still is a great game, one that i wish can get a small remaster or re-release at least on current gen or next gen consoles, but the dream of TEKKEN X CAPCOM still lives, and maybe one day, we will also see a new SNK VS CAPCOM or even better yet, a new PROJECT JUSTICE.
i would have been way more excited for a tekken x street fighter look how awesome akuma is and looks in tekken 7
did you just consider pandora mode a good thing?
its by far the most useless gameplay mechanic ever.
Yeah... Capcom's BS on disc DLC practice was on full display with this. Take into account the gem system that they wanted to milk as DLC for years didn't fly because gems were banned in tournaments because of unbalance issues and the fact that picking took FOREVER, thus slowing the tournament to a crawl, as well as the Sony exclusive characters being banned because of said exclusivity as well as the cats being broken (Oddjob vibes). And to top it all off it had that kinda cheap feel since all the Capcom characters were copy pasted over from SF4, thus taking us back to when Capcom was reusing sprites and assets for all the games they were cranking out (see Capcom Fighting Evolution) that almost killed the genre to begin with. Also, it came out on Vita.
A Tekken X SF game would be good right about now since Namco has been doing quite good work with Tekken 7 and Soul Caliber. In comparison, Capcom (at least their fighting games division) has had not 1 but 2 high profile dumpster fires that were OG SF5 and Marvel Infinite. Capcom is LOOSING in the genre that they pretty much invented and were kings of for years (SNK has had solid outing with the new SamSho and KOF14, and games like Skull Girls and Them's Fightin' Herds doing surprisingly well for indies). So yes, a NAMCO led cross game is still desirable and considering Capcom isn't doing anything with fighting games, why not let someone else take a crack at it.
Capcom has let everyone surpass them in the fighting game area.
Harada has nothing to worry about since Namco usually isn't as greedy as Capcom. He just need to approach the business practice the same as he does Tekken.
The game flopped due to the gem system BS, atrocious dlc practices and problems with the gameplay before they patched the game, not the "canibalism" trash excuse from capcom.
I remember having a little bit of fun with this game for a few months and never touched it again. While I enjoy both SF and Tekken parties I was always more of a Mortal Kombat guy myself!!!
I still play it (a hacked PC Version with all the extra PS3 Characters) and enjoy it but the On Disc DLC and the Gem Crap are what Killed it. I even came across an Arcade Version (Pirate) at Pinballs in Austin TX
This game completely ruined my outlook on every future fighting game. I could no longer trust these companies to deliver a full game and couldnt help but think that they were holding back. Turns out I was right and I never bought a fighting game ever again
The game would have been better if they had a better character matchup.
I hate it because it's not Canon and there are a few minor things I really hate about it
I gotta say I do love street fighter and tekken but I've to give the edge to tekken to be better well for me nowadays the absolute mount of hours ive played t6. I would love to see a aspect of the crossover by haradas tekken team
The jem system in the game is a big part that killed it
You forgot to mention an interesting fact that... despite on not releasing (just yet) a Tekken x Street Fighter...Namco made Akuma to appear in Tekken 7 (as a tease maybe)
Of course they should release it. I wanna see what they do with the Street Fighters, good or bad.
2021 would be a perfect time to release Tekken X Street Fighter as right now there is only the next-gen MK11 port on next-gen consoles, otherwise people are just playing last-gen fighters such as SF5 and Tekken 7
It failed because Capcom was full of greedy COONTS and plagued by bad decisions
How to fix the game:
- NOT make the DLC included on the disc, OR make it available from day 1, it WAS on the trailers so that's false advertising
- REMOVE gems altogether, it's completed UNRELATED to the in-game Pandora system
- Fix Pandora by simply NOT killing you after elimination and leaving you with 1HP, plus give it a 2-3x power boost
- Have included FEI LONG instead of that shitty Megaman for that much deserved Bruce Lee clone dreammatch!!!
I think collaboration games are fun either way
Street Fighter X Tekken didn't sell mostly because of the DLC debacle and the gems thing. Also, it's TIME Mr. Harada... it's the PERFECT time to go for Tekken X Street Fighter.
I definitely voted on that pole when harada ask-- I said of course I'm still interested I've been waiting for 10 years ever since I heard the announcement and still waiting come on PlayStation 5
the disc locked content was a HUGE factor in it's lack of sales...I did eventually get it for my Xbox 360 though, the game itself was on sale for like $6 and the disc locked content was on sale for like $2.49 so I figured "yeah, I think it's time I got Street Fighter X Tekken"
Top Hat please to talk about what happened to Tekken X Street Fighter and if it still makes sense to still release it. Thanks
As a long time Tekken fan myself, I kinda find it difficult to transfer and exercise my skills in Tekken into the series. While the game is advertise as a cross between Streetfighter and Tekken, game predominantly plays like a street fighter game more than anything else. Furthermore, I'm not too hot on the gems either. I find that to be game breaking for me especially since those who paid extra to get the better gems did break the game's balance. Lastly, game breaking bugs like the "Megaman" timer scam is basically the preferred play for a long time given how much mileage one got from using such a tactic especially in tournament play.

I had this game on the Vita and absolutely loved it. Always mean to pick up the PS3 version, at some point.
i think i'd have to agree with you that the reason sfxtekken was not as successful as it could have been came down to the fact that sf4 had already captured so much of the fighting game market/audience at the time that there simply wasnt enough room left over for sfxtekken to flourish
It would be GREAT to see better/new version of this game.It COULD work very well and it would be even More cooler if there could be Guilty Gear or Rival school characters too in the new game.IJ2 having a Lot of Guests can be a bit too much but having few guests can be nice
Where did the footage @ 18:38-18:46 originate? Was that a prototype to tekken X street fighter?
All links for footage are in the description, but the footage you are referring too is sadly only fan concept gameplay.
@@TopHatGamingManChannel oh ok.also please do videos on street fighter 1,tekken series, doa series, blazblue series, bloody roar series,& primal rage.as well as the two persona 4 fighting games on ps3
Would've gotten it if Tekken was crossed over with Mortal Kombat. A crossover I envisioned when I was 14.
I still have and play street fighter x tekken and still am hoping that they will make tekken x Street fighter. They do have Akuma in tekken 7 he looks and plays great.
