I'm the same exact way. I've been a console gamer all my life. 2 years ago I purchased a quest 2. Been playing nothing but VR since. Upgraded to Quest 3 and absolutely love it.
Maybe I'm too lazy but vr just seems like far too much effort. Gaming for me is all about chilling, switching off and moving my thumbs. Vr is just too mentally and physically tiring for me, to want to play every day. I like a 30 min blast every now and then but it will never replace flat screen for me. I like the options though
I was able to play both even when discovering VR in 2020. Now after playing Batman Arkham Shadows on the Quest 3, and being underwhelmed by a lot of flat games, I find it harder to get impressed with flat games. I just got to Blackgate Prison and while the graphics are very behind modern flat games, it felt so much more immersion and believable. Holy freaking cow. 3D depth is incredibly underrated.
@Adam-mo2qw The good thing about VR is it doesn't just have to be first person or physical. With mixed reality coming more popular, I can see more traditional games in pass-through like with Triangle Strategy. I also don't see why they can make traditional flat games with stereoscopic 3D like the 3DS.
I mean, these big companies have no excuse not to include a VR option when modders are doing this in their spare time in a matter of weeks for no pay. Get a small team of these people on board give them a decent wage and get it done, I am reluctant to buy flat screen games these days. I was never a big fan of Resident Evil 4, that is until they bought it out on PS VR2 at which point it turned into one of the best gaming experiences I have ever had. Like you say VR is transformative. Great vid dude.
Because they always resell the game but -insert game name- vr, if there is no market incentive they just wont do it whatsoever, they already have a hard enough time optimizing the damn thing as it is now that unreal 5 is a thing
I don't think it's unreasonable to expect a VR toggle option for most games in the future just not quite there yet. Edit: after watching full video Holy cow way to speak off the cuff, some people can't even write a script as good as you just winged that live commentary my man is spittin straight facts 🗣
It's entirely unreasonable lol. Flat2VR proves you have to have a dedicated team to iron out all the VR kinks. All games having a VR mode would in reality mean a lot of BAD vr games lol
I'm watching... I've recently published our first VR game on Steam, but there's not much interest. I'm wondering whether we should make another VR game or focus on a traditional screen-based game instead. This is a tough nut to crack for us.
@@tomaszzackiewicz8473 what is the game? issue is people think vr is a gimmick and there are still plenty of people that get sick. if games had a vr option for those of us that want to play in vr i think that would work. put it in the season pass or whatever
@@caliginousmoira8565 You will find my gam on my YT channel. I don’t have a problem with VR games, even with smooth movement, but I know there are people who can’t play. I'm experimenting and looking for new mechanics. We're about to start working on a new game with realistic graphics.
I think most people that still say VR is a gimmick haven’t actually ever really tried it. They think it’s just a screen strapped to your face. They don’t realize that it is f@&king magic! As a gamer since the NES days, I don’t see how any real gamer can play a good VR game and not see it as the future of gaming.
I have seen them, and I simply can't comprehend their thought process. To this day one of my friends who keeps saying VR is dead (in a semitroll way), has played VR a few times when he comes over. And he never fails to be amazed (he even played his favorite game, Resident Evil 4 and wqs blown away), then he takes the HMD off and goes back to his usual tirade: "It's good for a few minutes but it's just a gadget, like guitar hero, dance dance revolution, etc. and no one is playing with their plastic guitars now, they're gathering dust, blablabla." When he's serious about it, it's just that he thinks wearing a headset is uncomfortable, he can't even bear wearing glasses. And that's why VR will never take off according to him. People are just different I guess. I can wear an uncomfortable piece of hardware if it means my playing experience will be better, "there is no gain without pain", as they say.
I love GT7 for this reason as the games starts off flat then turn VR just before the 3 second countdown. Most people are like wow this is cool it's so big ( the flat screen in vr ) and I'm sure some people think that is what VR is then it turns VR and they have their mind blown!
Current headsets are either big and bulky, sweaty in summer or expensive (big screen beyond). And some people get motionsick bad. Personally I too see it as the future of gaming. I guess we are a few years away from VR beeing ready for the "average" gamer. I took me some time to get used to, and a comfort mod to properly fit the headset, until it clicked. Some people might no be as patient. VR gets me excited like nothing else and I am looking forward for the many more VR games that will be released. Last time I was afraid to play a game like I was with RE8 VR was the first Bioshock back in the day.
Because nobody develops for it. VR will stay a gimmick until the majority of AAA games start getting a vr mode. Stuff like blade and sorcery is cool, but in 8 years of VR only Half Life Alyx? The future is today and VR is sadly in the same place.
Exactly! We're in a catch 22 position atm. Everyone i know says "there's not enough big mainstream games available in VR for me to justify buying one. Game companies will say "there's not enough ppl playing VR games for it to make business sense........
Yeah, because companies that make vr games now will lose money, but they will ultimately push it to mainstream so in the future these games will earn tons. But these pioneers won't get the piece of the pie. So why should they do it? I SAY FOR THE LOVE GODDAMIT! THERE'S NOTHING LIKE IT!!!!
@sodiacTV haha, exactly my friend. It just takes a few powerful rich ppl to have a personal interest in it to push that barrier down. Not sure if Zuckerberg is that man as I'd imagine he's purely business orientated and expects some of that pie but maybe I'm wrong. I don't care so long as VR prospers. Like you said, there ain't nothing else like it and I don't understand why more ppl aren't falling in love with it. Think we need more demo stations in stores too but they'd need to be manned to help ppl sort shit out and advise with techniques to get used to it quicker
I play HL2 in VR all the time. It's crazy how well it transfers over to VR. I played the original back in the early 2000's and it's still mind blowing.
@ I strongly believe VR is the future of gaming we just need to hit that breaking point for the hardware! If a 20 year old game plays that well imagine what it’ll be like in 10 more years.
Since is first person shooter, that is really not a surprised since having tried VR fps shooters. It felt like as if fps is initially built for vr not mouse and keyboard. But manipulating physics with hands in hl2 can be buggy as hell
I wanna try that game. What’s the full name of it tho? And also how much does it cost for ps vr2? Is it free? What’s up with the other game or is the same? Half life Alix or whatever
I think that in VR games I spend most of my time looking at the environment and objects in my hand saying: just look at this!!! I've been using VR for three years now and I still can't stop admiring it
And this is what vr magic does things what developers spend hundreds of hours making environment look real and alive on 2D screen doesnt relate to the real 3D VR promote
I can never go back to flatscreen gaming. When I try, all I can think is how much better it would be in VR. Right now im laying in bed watch this on a giant screen, watching UA-cam on a TV or computer screen seems archaic. VR is a superior way to experience everything, I show it to EVERYONE that I can
great video, man. VR is actually my day to day for almost 7 years now, but sadly still a distant future to many... maybe one day they snap out of last century...
Couldn't agree more. Thought Tetris Effect was going to be the last game. it's a real test of that, "EVERY game needs VR" mantra, since you'd think VR couldn't really make Tetris better. ...but it does!
@@KayoMichielsfor some UEVR games full motion control already exists. A good recent example is Silent Hill 2 remake. The biggest problem is graphics power for these AAA games.
I need to also comment that this editing had me laughing a lot lol love your channel and been there since a long time, much success to you and I can’t wait for VR to be an option in EVERYTHING!!
I would suggest spreading this video as far and as wide as we all can. Beadro has set the agenda, we can disseminate it to the people we know. Post links on social media, retweet the original tweet, email family and friends. Here is a man speaking passionately on a subject that I think we can all get behind. Great job on the video, really well made and from the heart.
I waited nine agonizing months from launch to play Resi 4 Remake just so I could have my first play-through in VR. It was well worth the excruciating wait because what I ended up getting was an almost transcendental gaming experience unlike anything I've had in recent memory, and I'm not trying to be hyperbolic. I didn't just get the feeling of playing Resi 4 for the first time, I felt like I was living it, and yeah, that may sound cheesy, but there's no other way to say it. There was no barrier between me and the screeching, rabid Ganados, chainsaw-wielding maniacs, or giant inbred ogres. It's one thing to be safely sitting a few feet from your TV as El Gigante comes stomping towards Leon, it's another thing entirely to have to look up at the hulking beast as it towers over you, ready to make you its appetizer. There's no way I could indulge in playing the pancake version afterward because it would feel like just that, playing. I lived it in VR.
This exactly!! Hell yeah man, I’ve beaten RE7 on original PSVR and now playing through RE8 and RE4 remake VR! Truly game changing experiences! Hell I even beat the quest 2 version of RE4 VR, amazing version as well. I really wish we had more AAA titles to play through for VR!
I wish developers would realize the full potential of VR and what it would mean for their games, whether new or old. I had played Fallout 4 for hundreds of hours but it wasn't until I played it in VR that I was actually THERE. Despite playing countless more hours on the flatscreen version, it's my VR playtime that I had the best moments and memories. Now if only it would allow me to switch back and forth between the two modes like Elite Dangerous does. Speaking of which: Elite Dangerous was a game I had but quickly gave up once I realized I wasn't going to fly with my keyboard and mouse. Later I tried it in VR just to test out the headset I bought, and I instantly went out and bought a HOTAS, learned how to fly and 5 years later is still a game I play to this day - all because of VR.
There's nothing like playing a flat screen game from your childhood in VR. Half Life 2 and Resi 4 (OG on Quest) are amazing in VR. We need more of this! Some of my dream games to play in VR would be: Bioshock, Prey (2017), Farcry 2, and FEAR.
If any of these games were built in Unreal engine, it's as easy as just injecting the UEVR mod, and tweaking some things... And I suppose it's only a matter of time before other game engines get similar mods...
Every game developer must see this video, what an absolute blast I had with this one Beardo, you are definitely one of the best entertainers in gaming world! thanks for this one!
Just got a my first VR headset today (PSVR2), kind of on impulse, although I have been casually checking out VR game reviews for a little while. I always thought the idea of VR was a bit extravagant but I have a feeling Im going to get very hooked. I have RE8 and 4 remake, No Man's Sky, and have ordered GT7. With the releases coming out this year its probably a good time to get into VR. Just found this channel today as well, which is my instant favorite VR channel. Love your content!
Absolutely. Half the reason I even became interested in the resident evil franchise is because of the resident evil 4 port to the quest, and I LOVE that port
I loved this, I think you should condense it down to a 5 minute, all thriller no filler video/written essay and publish it everywhere that will let you - even send it to Meta, I'd love to see this featured on the Quest blog!
its adding so much work to have a vr toggle to a game, it just adds to the scope and imo not enough people have a vr headset to make this also design wise a lot of games are not made to be played in vr, but the quality of vr games have been going up a lot
Thanks for a refreshing new VR content. I got bored since other VR youtubers keep repeating the same thing. After watching this i went straight away trying HL2 vr mod and Alien Isolation VR and it was incredible. Thank you mate.
15:30 yep and people look at the gameplay with that shaky footage and think “oh boy that’s gonna make me sick.” It’s like no…that’s not what you see in VR because it’s tied to your head/body movement, it’s actually incredibly stationary for you.
I use VR mainly for sim racing. Every single pc sim racing game comes with vr added from day one or a patch six months down the road or a launch option. Flight sims are the same. I don’t get why the sim studios build in vr mode, but normal games don’t. Most sim studios are small teams compared to these normal games that have a large dev team.
@@Slaughter_Hillpeople said the same about videogames in the 80s keep in mind that flat-screen has been around for about 50 years but vr only 10 years but it's been an idea for longer just give it time and it'll be as big if not bigger than flat-screen and you'll be wrong
Ben, this is the best video of yours I have seen - not that I haven't really enjoyed your other content, but this is really expressing what I feel about VR. I only wish there was a VR mod for X4:Foundations. If I have one dream for Deckard, it is that Valve will find a way to integrate what we are seeing from the modding community into their catalog of games so that we might maximize how we play games across the board!
Preach !! But I want to add that adapting the whole game in 1st person isn't even necessary. Just a simple stereoscopic vr mode is way easier and already game changing for any type of game. Just seeing the environments in 3d. 3rd person vr is soo underrated !
Lol. I said the same thing up above having not read this. You said it better! Sometimes I just want to chill with a controller. But I want to do it with the advantages of full 3D and head tracking that VR provides. It seems the VR community often has different ideas about this though. It ain't VRAF unless it is first person and you have full hand interactions. I'd play many more games in VR if I could sometimes just relax and not have to do all of that. And I imagine it would be much easier to convert from flat. Would the community accept that though or complain constantly that it isn't VRAF?
VR has been a revelation for me, as a mid-40's Dad. I played/completed less than 10 games in the previous 20 years before curiosity back in 2021 made me get a used Rift S and Half-Life:Alyx. Holy WOW. Since then got right into it: Quest 2, then 3, via wireless Virtual Desktop PCVR, invested in 6e router and a pair of Vive foot-trackers + Natural Locomotion on Steam to simulate physical walking in-game. Experimenting with mods & UEVR when time permits. Sports with Thrill of the Fight (now the online sequel). I've done more gaming these last 3 years than in the previous 20....by a large margin. I feel inspired, motivated, physically energised and enthusiastically curious about the industry, tech & experiences. It's like a mid-life crisis on steroids haha! Recommended.
Excellent video, that I absolutely stand behind 100%. This was brilliantly put together Beardo, and I agree with it wholeheartedly! VR modes for the win, and lets have more of them, PLEASE! Keep up the great work! 👊🏻🍺
I just acquired a quest 3 and I can now certainly agree with you. So much progress compared to old VR that was just demos. I really believe this is the future. So incredible !
VR is an eye opener. Playing games in VR is amazing and you have shown a great variation of games. Yes we need more games to include VR options as standard.
Great video!. I still play a ton of flat games but VR is my preference and I always find myself saying "I wonder how this game would be in VR." when playing flat. One thing I think we need to get over as a VR community is every VR game needing to be first person to be considered "immersive" VR. I think third person would be fine. Immersive to me is not just controlling a characters hands in a first person view. Immersion for me is existing in a space with the ability to look where I want with my head and the 3D depth VR provides. You can still get the scale and environmental immersion with third person when in VR. Even if using standard controls. There is a camp within the VR community that feels that it's only a truly proper VR game if there are first person full hand interactions within it. I disagree and think I would still really enjoy sitting on a couch playing a game with a controller but I'm IN the world because I can freely look where I want and it all has depth. I did this with a GTA V mod that was in third person with a controller and I loved it. Best of both world, for those who just want to relax and not have to get fully active with the controls. I think I would play more VR if this was true since I often am guilty of being lazy and not wanting that full physical experience. Just my two cents. What Quest 3 facial interface is he using? I hate the stock one and already replaced the strap with a halo setup. Even so, I often choose not to use the Quest because I find it uncomfortable still. Amazing as it is I still tend to go to my PSVR 2 because I find it way more comfortable. I want to play my Quest 3 more but the comfort is killing it for me.
Dude I just love your VR content! I got a Quest 2 last year and I intend to upgrade it to a Quest 3 and also buy a PSVR 2 in the future. But since I got my Quest 2, I must say that your content is my biggest refference in VR gaming since then! I haven't got to play much on VR lately but this video really got me wanting to get back to it! Thank you for helping me find joy in VR gaming again!
Just getting into VR. I do agree that the possibilities are endless and I absolutely love my experience so far. One of my favourite experiences, however is a little game called triangle strategy that uses VR very innovatively, and you can also play it lying on the couch. Lol I don’t want to have to stand up and walk around to play every game.
For me, playing Subnautica VR was the most immersive and memorable experience I ever had of playing a flat screen in VR. Absolute mind melting experience guys if you haven't tried that already. I truly hope that the upcoming Subnautica 2 is VR enabled or at least can be modded for that.
Same for me. Facing a Reaper Leviathan in VR for the first time was terrifying on a level completely unmatched by any flat game or any horror movie for that matter. Glorious stuff. 😊 And just experiencing all the beautiful biomes in real 3D with full, natural depth is amazing. Probably my most replayed game of all and I've never ever considered even once to play it on a screen. With Below Zero I waited for the VR mod to come out before playing it. I just couldn't bare to not play it in VR.
@@Elgsdyr The same VR mod for SN works for below zero. I just had to adjust a couple of control settings again. That being said, somehow, the original SN had something else about it that below zero could not deliver to me. I'm yet to finish below zero but I think I prefer to replay SN once again in the hardcore mode this time.
I feel like VR even has value in 3D platformers, like Astro Bot. In VR, you have TRUE stereoscopic depth perception, which makes controlling and positioning your character more intuitive. I wouldn't say it's the future for EVERY genre of video game, though. Like 2D platformers, RTS, or Devil May Cry type games.
@@Slaughter_Hill I heard it's awesome and I can't wait to try it. In theory it should be fantastic, the bizarre scale of this world lends itself to how VR 3rd person platformers play, but some scenes might be janky.
Great Video. I am also enjoying my time in HL2. It is hard to believe that this game is 20 years old and even harder to believe that this amazing Studio Flat2VR made this for free. Support this studio and buy everything they make, and that to me means even the games you don't like, to encourage them to make more.
I agree, as excited as I am about Greta Auto six coming out. I’m disappointed that it’s not going to be VR. Because once you play VR games flatscreen is just never the same.
We need all the OG games in VR! But I wanna also experience the old games like Tomb Raider in third person VR, like Astrobot Rescue Mission, that game was one of the best gaming experiences Ive ever had. Sometimes the horror games are too intense and I'd like something more chill.
Great positive video about VR, it really is a gamechanger. My absolute favorite is Gran Turismo 7. I really want to know if the developer will enhance the game on PSVR2 with a ps5 pro patch..it's already fantastic in VR, and a pro-patch could make it even better! Hopefully the update tomorrow will be the one...
This months Steam report shows %1.55 of players on Steam, are playing in VR. Yes, that a lot of people, but a very small slice. Two thirds of those are playing on Meta headsets and it's pretty clear that the biggest section of growth is through them. Once I got my HMD in 6 months ago, my flat screen gaming dramatically dropped. I did experiment for a while playing flat screen games on the giant virtual screen on my HMD, but that phased out as I got more stand alone games and set up my PC for PCVR. At that point my PS5 went untouched for months, so I gave it away. My only regret in doing so, was losing my old No Man's Sky save because the idea that it might some day be recoverable on another system was unheard of. I should have never doubted Hello Games. Still, no regrets. My GFs sons love the PS5. We'll see how that changes when he gets a Quest for Christmas.
A truly fantastic video! A little more of a long-form essay-type thing really suits you if you ever find another thing you'd like to speak about that much
100% agree with you, that VR makes me play games id never enjoy flat. Racing games, never cared for em. Puzzle games.. eh. Yet i love both in VR. Hitman, never cared for. Dying to play that on psvr2. And pvp multiplayer games? Hate them. But id sell my kindey to get Eve Valkyrie back.
4 years ago I've tried VR for Half Life Alyx and The Walking Dead Saints and Sinners. Today, I can't go back to flat screen and I am absolutely enjoying my flat screen classics in VR now.
I have to admit, when I first got my Quest 2, I side-loaded Doom, Doom 2, Final Doom, and Doom3, Quake 1 and 2, and Half Life 1, all running natively on Quest. It was surreal to revisit areas I once tread before only on a screen back in my teens.
Great video. I’m eagerly awaiting the day where VR modes are the norm. I feel the foveated rendering on PSVR2 gets games *so* close to flat quality, that there’s no excuse not to do more hybrids in the PS6 generation, whenever that is. The processing power is there, we just need the games.
I agree with you, but what I think is most important for people to try it is that it needs to be easy to do it. Just plug in your vr headset and toggle a button in the game and your in vr, if that will be possible then yes I believe it will bring the mass to vr
Beardo! I’m the guy who’s band played with NOFX remember me or not but since you are such a superstar VR channel, please do videos for us newbies trying to even learn how to make these dam things work! These mods and tinkering aspects are hardly ever talked about. Please help us other non cool vr experts figure out (slow talking) how to even get this to work on a mid range computer. All my friends are screwups and can’t help me. Haha
Alien Isolation is amazing in Vr. I’ve never played an Alien game before and never watched a movie. But this game was probably my favorite VR experience.
Genuinely can't agree with you more vr is the way forward it's such an amazing experience I was the same with gran turismo 7 I hate these games I find the slow and boring mega dull my mate lent me his copy and I thoroughly enjoyed myself paying it in vr burnout would be insane. Fantastic video I hope more people will listen so we get more vr. Companies need to demo vr once you try it really gets addicting been gaming my whole life now I'm 35 and I don't think I have enjoyed gaming as much as I have these past few years . I really need to save for a gaming pc so I can enjoy even more greatness. Thank you for the fantastic video 🙏🏻 take care and have a good one
Which ones? Batman shadows and metro are both 10% of the flatscreen versions. If those games came out as flat screen entries, both of them would’ve killed the franchise
Lots of complaints about Alien Rogue Incursion not being flatscreen on the recent Sony PS trailer put out. Anyway, as the haters say, it’s PS2 graphics, it’s a waste making a game for VR and they are being forced to get a VR headset. Suck it up because us VR enthusiasts have to resort to mods.
People who say "there's not enough big mainstream games" don't realise that pretty much any game is fun in VR, and you only learn this once you have used a VR headset. I don't like playing most games on a flat screen, I like GTA 5, Fallout, Cyberpunk, Horizon and RDR2, that is it really. But in VR everything is so much fun. I cant even wait to play the Resident Evil games, and I hate Horror games, even games like Beat Saber I love, and I really wanna play Behemoth which I wouldn't touch in flat screen. I think the PSVR2 sales a few months back and this years black Friday sales could quite possibly be the tipping point that propels VR forward with so many people getting it, and so many good games available and upcoming. After a lot of reservation that's how I got mine, and I don't regret it for a beat!
You make compelling cases for VR modes to be mandatory. However, it really depends on the developers/publishers and if they're prepared to spend the extra budget/time to include something at least half decent. I wish it would happen but realistically, I think it will be down to modders. You've opened my eyes to the RE4 mod, I didn't realise there's so much to it. Definitely going to give it a try. Thanks!
I don't usually watch long videos but I had to hear your opinion on this topic, I just hope it reaches the target audience because they need to hear this. Your last point was that everyone needs to experience the 'right game' to show them what VR is capable of, maybe you should make a video of all the best introductory games, ones that hook you and show VR's potential but also avoid the overwhelming/nauseating the player. Btw as you're still a fan of flat gaming I recommend trying stereoscopic 3D (such as nvidia 3Dvision) which turns flat to 3D with a 3D monitor, although some can also be played in VR on a 3D screen. Despite being a VR content creator like you I also still love flat games but with 3Dvision I can still play them in 3D, in fact when a game has both 3D and VR support I prefer 3D as they have a higher PPD and are played the way they were intended. Stereo3D also has it's own modding community (Helixvision) which has singlehandedly kept 3D alive for the past 14 years after the mainstream ditched it, they're basically the Flat2VR of 3D. On that note I also see the same thing happening to VR when/if the industry ditches it for being too niche.
@@skateorbri That is possible but it's still a flat video which doesn't convey the sense of depth, in fact 360° is even more inconvenient for youtube viewers because most don't want to scroll around.
Awesome video! Spot on! I would like to see someone mod the older COD games like COD MW2 in to VR. COD is such a big title and I believe it could send some shockwaves through the gaming community then they see you can play your favorite COD games in VR!
I do both VR and flat i like to relax but sometimes wanna get real immersed especially driving/ flying/cockpit view stuff. Metro Awakening is brilliant though so far, and Batman was next level
Every single time I put somebody into VR that has never played it before is always blown away and never thought it would be as good as it is. They never think you'll actually be inside the games world. Then the game starts and I struggle to get them off it lmao If you haven't tried VR, do not knock it until you try it. You can get motion sickness but with a little time you'll get over it and VR will be phenomenal
Spreading the word as fast as I can. Literally I was playing Alien Isolation mother VR mod today. And was thinking on invite some friends, so they can appreciate the beauty of gaming. ❤
Great video! would be even better if you talked about options for VR hardware. what games you can play with which head set and so on. that way this video could be great for onboarding flat screen gamers into playing VR games easier. but maybe that deserves its own video? I would LOVE to play RE4 Remake in VR. but it's not worth buying a PS5 and a VR headset for almost 1000$ plus buying the game again. BUT the Quest version of the original game is still amazing and would be worth mentioning.
I think and it's just my opinion, We need to be at the level that we don't need a PC to enjoy the fun Quality of VR that you talk about, Then we are truly experiencing VR. Keep up the great content.
Very well put together. You should've mentioned that even if you're tired you can play vr games sitting down with a gamepad which is still much better than on a flat screen.
@@michelverheijen6643 it still can be tiring for some after a hard day's work moving arms about. And needs a bit of space to not hit anyone next to you or any furniture. With a gamepad you can really relax, even recline, turning with thumbsticks than in real life.

Edit: after watching full video
Holy cow way to speak off the cuff, some people can't even write a script as good as you just winged that live commentary
my man is spittin straight facts 🗣
if it's made like the Hitman VR mode, then we have tons of bad VR ports
Especially when there are incredible mods like the praydog resident evil ones.
It's entirely unreasonable lol. Flat2VR proves you have to have a dedicated team to iron out all the VR kinks.
All games having a VR mode would in reality mean a lot of BAD vr games lol
But Hitman trliogy coming to PSVR2 should be a better port, hopefully. Just look at the Resident Evil games on PSVR2 are amazing @Takeo-iq2lh
Most games don’t work in vr. Elden ring is an easy example
Very, very well put. This is the video non VR players need to watch!
Such a cool video. The VR space is lucky to have someone like you championing the medium and helping to push it forward.
I hope you know how important videos like these are! Really appreciate you using your platform in this way, Ben.
A true advocate for vr. Great video boss.
This vid should be watched by every single game dev
And every game devs will look at how VR game sell and will say, " no, not worth the effort"
And he never fails to be amazed (he even played his favorite game, Resident Evil 4 and wqs blown away), then he takes the HMD off and goes back to his usual tirade: "It's good for a few minutes but it's just a gadget, like guitar hero, dance dance revolution, etc. and no one is playing with their plastic guitars now, they're gathering dust, blablabla."
When he's serious about it, it's just that he thinks wearing a headset is uncomfortable, he can't even bear wearing glasses.
It ís f@*king magic!
Exactly! We're in a catch 22 position atm. Everyone i know says "there's not enough big mainstream games available in VR for me to justify buying one. Game companies will say "there's not enough ppl playing VR games for it to make business sense........
And it's not helped by the general collapse in western gaming market. Anything considered risky are the first plugs to be pulled.
Seriously! The mod team did such a fantastic job!
I've been using VR for three years now and I still can't stop admiring it
I thought vr is known for the gameplay than graphic
it's awesome being there in ways that it isn't on TV - where you lose all sense of scale, depth and full interaction with the game world
@@toututu2993 I don't care about gameplay mostly, i like those worlds that vr give. But gameplay is good also in many games
And this is what vr magic does things what developers spend hundreds of hours making environment look real and alive on 2D screen doesnt relate to the real 3D VR promote
That will wear of eventually... But even then it's still awesome.

That game is amazing in VR!
VR mode for STALKER would be EPIC! (and yes, i know of Into The Radius)
Stalker 2 is made in Unreal Engine. That means you maybe can play it with Praydogs UEVR mod. Will try this tomorrow when it releases, hope this works
@ExhaleDJ The UEVR only let you render it in VR... it still won't have full vr motion controls
bro hasn’t heard of into the radius
@@vroreo5019 I have, but it's not exactly Stalker...
@@KayoMichielsfor some UEVR games full motion control already exists. A good recent example is Silent Hill 2 remake. The biggest problem is graphics power for these AAA games.
I appreciate you making this video Ben. Good work.
Fantastic video, I appreciate how passionate you are about describing your experiences and how you casually showcase the awesomeness!
Loved RE4 in VR but the boat boss fight really took it out of me 😂
I wish developers would realize the full potential of VR and what it would mean for their games, whether new or old.
This is a high-quality passionate ode-to-VR video....a reference ode...well worth sharing around. Thanks for making it!
Bravo! This is a great way to illustrate VR to those who are used to flat screens
Absolutely. Half the reason I even became interested in the resident evil franchise is because of the resident evil 4 port to the quest, and I LOVE that port
"Look at this! Look at this! LOOK! AT! THIS!" all while bludgeoning a flesh bag to death. GOLD! 7:32
I loved this, I think you should condense it down to a 5 minute, all thriller no filler video/written essay and publish it everywhere that will let you - even send it to Meta, I'd love to see this featured on the Quest blog!
its adding so much work to have a vr toggle to a game, it just adds to the scope and imo not enough people have a vr headset to make this
also design wise a lot of games are not made to be played in vr, but the quality of vr games have been going up a lot
exactly! I think it's happening as you speak.
"OI YOU!
WANNA PLAY THIS IN VR MATE?
YES BRUV - NAH FAM"
that cracked me up lol. its the little things. :)
Thanks for a refreshing new VR content. I got bored since other VR youtubers keep repeating the same thing. After watching this i went straight away trying HL2 vr mod and Alien Isolation VR and it was incredible. Thank you mate.
Thank you so much for this comment, put me in a good mood already today!
@@BeardoBenjo Glad to hear that. Keep it up.
An Avatar Frontiers of Pandora VR mode is such a no brainer, its omission is criminal.
Could save ubisoft . Watchdogs legion would be cool too splinter cell. Just give the modders the tools to make it easier at least
The passion you put into these videos will also be a huge factor in people picking up a headset, and gaming in VR. Good job bud.
Ive played games since original nintendo. VR is the future...period.
10 years and it’s smaller than ever.
Such a beautiful love letter to VR gaming.
Everything being life-sized in VR is what folks don't seem to appreciate. Big stuff is big. Good vid, thanks.
Finishing with the Trombone 🤘🤘 loved it, great video.
I love your unbreakable enthusiasm again and again!💯❤️ You can't beat the real freaks!!✌️😎👍 Keep it up, Bro!👍
No Man's Sky, Resident Evil remake 4, Resident Evil The Village , Horizon call of the mountain are all absolutely OUTSTANDING IN VR
I have a quest 2 and a psvr2 and I'd say wait to get the psvr because there isn't very many games for it right now so just upgrade to quest 3
Love that idea it would be incredible playing anything in VR
Studio bosses need to watch this video
Totally agree! One of your best videos to date!
Yes Moose 2 as an example.
Is little nightmares any good in vr? It was a nightmare in flat because certain jumps require depth perception and I kept missing simple jumps
@@Slaughter_Hill I heard it's awesome and I can't wait to try it. In theory it should be fantastic, the bizarre scale of this world lends itself to how VR 3rd person platformers play, but some scenes might be janky.
VR blew me when i first tried it recently when i bought meta quest 3 2 months ago... Can't get enough of it... It's the next evolution for gaming
Wow man what great showcase to vr and why it’s amazing and should be in every persons house so we can advance in gaming haha love it!!!!
Great Video. I am also enjoying my time in HL2. It is hard to believe that this game is 20 years old and even harder to believe that this amazing Studio Flat2VR made this for free. Support this studio and buy everything they make, and that to me means even the games you don't like, to encourage them to make more.
FINALLY!!!! Thanks 🙏 someone who proper gets VR, I love the RE4 example!!! Once you go VR you can’t go back!!! It’s like if not VR it’s meh 🤭
VR is what Disneyland will be transforming into 20 years from now. It will be AR on rails for every ride in they make.
I agree, as excited as I am about Greta Auto six coming out. I’m disappointed that it’s not going to be VR. Because once you play VR games flatscreen is just never the same.
You flew right by our apartment and didn't even wave hello! hahaha Great video and thank you for all your amazing work championing VR.
We need all the OG games in VR! But I wanna also experience the old games like Tomb Raider in third person VR, like Astrobot Rescue Mission, that game was one of the best gaming experiences Ive ever had. Sometimes the horror games are too intense and I'd like something more chill.
Amazing video i tell everyone about this video one of the best vr dude on UA-cam
Wonderful video, so true
I absolutely loved this video!!

Perfect ending to a great video 🔥
Beardo! I’m the guy who’s band played with NOFX remember me or not but since you are such a superstar VR channel, please do videos for us newbies trying to even learn how to make these dam things work! Love hearing complaints about recent VR games not being in flatscreen.
Which ones? Batman shadows and metro are both 10% of the flatscreen versions. If those games came out as flat screen entries, both of them would’ve killed the franchise

Thanks!
I fully agree with what your saying mate 👍
I don’t usually read long comments. But i think there’s a way to show a vr game using the 360 effect other vids use somehow?
Then the game starts and I struggle to get them off it lmao
If you haven't tried VR, do not knock it until you try it. You can get motion sickness but with a little time you'll get over it and VR will be phenomenal
Spreading the word as fast as I can.
Literally I was playing Alien Isolation mother VR mod today. And was thinking on invite some friends, so they can appreciate the beauty of gaming. ❤
Waiting for the HL2 RTX release to play it again now in VR
Guess 90 % of vr games are playable seated. I play 90% seated.
@@michelverheijen6643I try to play as many vr games standing as I can because I'm overweight
@@michelverheijen6643 it still can be tiring for some after a hard day's work moving arms about. And needs a bit of space to not hit anyone next to you or any furniture. With a gamepad you can really relax, even recline, turning with thumbsticks than in real life.
